The baby monitor you don't have to pack. Extra Eyes turns two iPhones or iPads into a private monitor for the room next door - the hotel suite, the Airbnb, the guest room at Grandma's.
One device stays with your child as the Camera. The other stays with you. They connect directly to each other over the local network or your own Personal Hotspot - live video stays between your two devices and never touches the internet.
WHY THIS INSTEAD OF PACKING A MONITOR
* It's already in your bag. No hardware to pack, charge, mount, or forget in the room at checkout.
* It works in whatever room you get. Naps happen in strange places; a QR scan sets up wherever the crib ends up.
* You're on a network you didn't choose. Extra Eyes doesn't ask you to trust it: there is no Extra Eyes account, no Extra Eyes server, and no cloud video. On shared Wi-Fi, everything the two devices stream is encrypted - or skip the venue's network entirely with your own hotspot.
A SAME-PLACE MONITOR, ON PURPOSE
Extra Eyes streams between rooms in the same place. It does not stream over the internet, so it is not for checking on the room from the beach - and that limit is exactly what keeps it private. Sessions are intentional: you start one for a nap or an evening, you end it, you get a recap. Any device in the home can take the Viewer role - a grandparent's phone included.
SET UP IN THREE STEPS
1. On the spare device, choose Set up Camera and position it where your child sleeps.
2. On your device, choose Set up Viewer and scan the QR code the Camera shows.
3. Tap Start Monitoring.
If a guest network blocks the connection - some hotel Wi-Fi does - turn on your Personal Hotspot and pair through it instead.
WHILE YOU WATCH
* Live video and audio, room to room
* Push-to-talk, so a quick "shhh, I'm here" doesn't require opening the door
* On-device detection for crying, motion, people, and an empty frame - even pets, if you turn it on
* Alerts arrive live on your device during the session, each kept as a Moment: a text record of what and when, never a photo or clip
* Picture-in-Picture while you use other apps; optional audio while your phone is locked
* Soothing sounds and visuals you can start on the Camera from your side of the wall
* When the session ends, a summary shows how long it ran and what was detected. It clears when your next session starts - nothing accumulates.
THE PRIVACY DETAILS, PLAINLY
Live video and audio are encrypted end to end with AES-GCM. Keys are created when you scan the QR code, exist only in the memory of your two devices, and every session gets fresh ones. If anything fails to decrypt, the session shuts down instead of falling back to something weaker. Nothing is uploaded anywhere: no cloud video, no analytics, no account - the app can't send your video to a server because it doesn't have one.

This is a maintenance update. We refreshed our App Store screenshots to better show how Extra Eyes works. The app itself is unchanged - still a private baby monitor that keeps video on your local Wi-Fi, with no account, no cloud, and no subscription.
