Live mode: grains no longer jump when the record head passes the play position. Recording into a live loop used to move any grain the record head was about to overwrite. You heard that as the cloud lurching backward and then forward again each time the head swept past. Now the buffer crossfades underneath instead, so the sound morphs from what was already in the loop to what you are recording, and grains stay where you put them.

Usability improvements to multi-playhead and mod screens.

Bug fix to make the new LFO feature work better when LFOs are synced to the host tempo.

Field 1.4.0 adds motion. MODULATION: six slots you assign by long-pressing a knob. LFO or Euclidean patterns, per-route depth, tempo sync, and rings on the knob that show what's moving. MOVE: the Morph macro can drift on its own now. Long-press MORPH, set a rate, and each destination evolves on its own phase. DELAY: a stereo delay built for granular tails, with tempo sync, feedback, and mix controls. Playheads 2 and 3 gain a PAN dial, so each stream gets its own place in the stereo field. Presets carry all of it, in the app and in your host session.

Playheads 2 and 3 now have their own Size and Spread. Open the Playheads sheet and each extra head has Size and Spread sliders next to Speed, Pitch, and Level. A new head starts matched to Playhead 1 so it sounds full right away, and from there you can make it bigger, smaller, wider, or narrower. Also fixed: long grains on an extra head no longer shrink as you raise Density. The grain overlap limit now accounts for every head's grain size, so a big grain keeps its length.

Fixes the Playheads panel on iOS 16 and 17. On some devices, especially when Grainsmith Field runs inside a host app like AUM, the top of the panel could be cut off. Also included from the last update, in case you missed it: Record Performance. Start a recording from the presets menu and everything you play is captured to a WAV file, through app switches and screen locks, with a Lock Screen Live Activity while it runs. Recordings save to the Files app and share straight from Field.

Pitch modes The pitch ribbon and the pitch probability can now each follow a pitch mode. Free moves continuously with no snapping to semitones. Scale locks to one of 12 scales, shaped around your current pitch, so there is no key to set. Chromatic, Octaves, and Octaves+5ths snap to those intervals. Set the mode and scale in the Pitch settings. Also in this update: smoother pitch pickers, and you can import a Roto-Control setup profile for its 18 knobs. Your saved presets load and sound exactly as before.

Record up to 90 seconds. Field's recorder now captures up to 90 seconds, up from 20, leaving room for full phrases, longer field recordings, and live takes before you granulate them.
