Your pantry just got smarter: freshness that knows fridge from freezer, best-by dates you control, and track what's left down to the last slice.
GroceryTrack turns every grocery receipt — paper or digital — into a clear, private picture of your spending, your pantry, and what to buy next. No loyalty cards. No store integrations. No spreadsheets.
SNAP, FORWARD, OR BOTH
• Snap a photo of any in-store paper receipt. Our AI reads the items, categorizes them, and totals them in seconds.
• Forward digital receipts from your inbox: Instacart, DoorDash, Walmart, Whole Foods, Amazon Fresh, Uber Eats, Costco, Target — anywhere that emails you a receipt.
• Edit, recategorize, or flag non-grocery items in one tap. The dashboard updates instantly.
KNOW WHERE YOUR MONEY GOES
• A clean monthly hero shows your total grocery spending this month — restaurants and household non-grocery items are excluded automatically, so the number is honest.
• A 7-day chart breaks each day into grocery vs restaurant spend, color-coded.
• Category breakdown ranks where your money actually went — produce, meat, dairy, bakery, snacks, household, and more — with dollar amounts and percentages side by side.
• The Nutrition tab estimates the macronutrient mix behind what you buy, using standard USDA values.
A PANTRY THAT RUNS ITSELF
• Every grocery item you scan lands in a live pantry with a freshness estimate that knows fridge from freezer — chicken you froze on day two keeps freezer life.
• Set your own best-by dates, count down multi-packs ("2 of 6 left"), and portion-track single items so nothing quietly expires in the back.
• A "needs attention" section surfaces what to use soon; one tap turns what's running low into a shopping list, and AI suggests recipes from what you already have.
• Choose how far back your pantry looks — one week to forever.
A BUDGET THAT FITS YOUR LIFE
• A short 7-question setup builds a personalized monthly target based on household size, kids, cooking habits, store types, dietary style, waste level, and delivery frequency.
• Adjust your budget anytime with a slider in your profile.
• Restaurant spending is tracked separately so it doesn't blow up your grocery goal.
STAY ON TOP — WITHOUT OPENING THE APP
• Home Screen widget (small or medium) shows your month-to-date grocery total at a glance.

If you can’t make the app read the date off the receipt, make it editable at least. I scanned 3 receipts from March, April, and May to see my spending trends. They all got posted to June instead.
Developer Response
Thank you so much for taking the time to scan those receipts and tell me exactly what went wrong — this is really useful feedback. Here's what happened: receipt dates show up in all sorts of formats and places, so the scanner can't always find them reliably. When it can't, the app falls back to today's date, on the assumption that most people scan on the day they shop. That works for fresh trips, but it's exactly wrong for what you did — catching up on March, April, and May receipts — and I'm sorry it threw off your trends. That's why your suggestion is the right call. v1.3.0 is in review now and makes the purchase date editable, plus every line item too, so when the scan guesses wrong you can fix it in a couple of taps and get your spending history lined up correctly. It should be live within a few days.Really appreciate you helping make the app better — if anything else comes up, I'd love to hear it.
This update is all about your pantry.
SMARTER FRESHNESS
• Shelf-life estimates now know where you keep things — chicken in the freezer lasts months, not days. Move an item to a new spot and its freshness recounts from that day.
• Set your own best-by date on any item with quick picks from 1 week to 3 months. Your date always wins over our estimate.
TRACK WHAT'S LEFT
• Count down multi-packs ("2 of 6 left") or portion-track single items (Full · ½ · ¼). Items running low feed straight into your shopping list.
YOUR PANTRY, YOUR WINDOW
• New in Profile: choose how far back your pantry looks — 1 week, 4 weeks, 3 months, or forever.
• A filter chip on the Pantry screen lets you peek at a different window any time without changing your setting.
• Prefer a tidy list? Turn on "Hide marked by default."
FASTER FIXES
• Correct an item's name or quantity right from the pantry — no digging through receipts.
• Jump from any pantry item to its full receipt in one tap.
• Older purchases now read "2mo ago" instead of "62d ago."
GETTING STARTED
• New guided onboarding walks you from your first scan to a working budget in a few minutes.
ALSO IN THIS RELEASE
• View the original receipt photo with pinch-to-zoom.
• Fixed dark mode in the budget questionnaire and history filters, plus date editing for receipts with misread years.
