Lightweight, privacy-first location tracker for your Apple watch (no iPhone needed if you have a cellular model with a data plan!)
If you like to go out riding your bike or hiking with only your Apple watch and still want your family or friends to be able to track you in real-time: FollowMyWatch is the solution! All you need is a cellular Apple Watch with a mobile data plan. Simply start the tracker in the app on your watch, and people who know your personal, random ID can follow you on your dedicated webpage at https://followmywatch.com/YourID. The app can safely run in the background, and of course you can use workout apps like Strava etc. in parallel with it.
FollowMyWatch uses OpenStreetMap to display your location. No other data is collected; your past tracks are deleted whenever you start a new one. The app itself is free, there is a small fee involved for displaying your location data on the website.
