Backstage 17 puts you in the control booth of a live theater show. You are the stage operator calling every cue at the right moment, and the show does not pause to wait for you. Five physical instruments sit on your console, each built as a real mechanical control instead of a menu. Trim Cascade: three coupled valves that keep rigging, lighting, and sound trim inside a corridor that keeps narrowing as the scene runs. Blocking Radar: a sweeping radar that shows where the cast actually is on stage, not just where the script says they should be. Aim with the joystick, capture a track, fight the fog with the focus valve. Cue Track Scope: an oscilloscope for the prompt line. Scrub across the excerpt and compare the live signal against the reference before a malfunction reaches the house. Rig Watch Panel: several set pieces drifting out of safety on their own schedule. Pull them back with a slider or hit the quick stabilizer before one fails. Mix Desk: balance the live house mix across several channels. Push one fader too hot and it bleeds into the rest of the board. Calling the cue itself is not one button. It is a row of breaker switches you pull in the order printed on the call sheet, shuffled every scene, with real drag weight behind every throw. Every scene you get wrong costs the company's trust in you. Every act raises the bar: new instruments become mandatory, the deadline gets tighter, the fog gets thicker. Four acts make a full shift, and every shift you finish is logged to your personal archive.
