The biggest heartbreak in photogrammetry (3D modeling): you get home, start processing on your computer, and find out the photo overlap (lap rate) was too low. The model falls apart, and you have to go all the way back to reshoot.
Overlap Camera lets anyone try photogrammetry, 3D scanning, and fixed-point observation with nothing but the phone in your pocket. No special gear, no professional equipment, no complicated setup. It overlays your previous photo semi-transparently on the live capture screen and shows a real-time overlap rate (LAP%) powered by your phone's IMU sensor. Because you can see the overlap as you shoot, you keep enough overlap every time, so your models don't break and you don't have to reshoot.
Just point, line up the overlay, and capture. It's that easy to get started.
New: choose any photo in a project as the reference. The app keeps overlaying that one shot, so you can return weeks later and line up on the very first frame.
Free trial: every feature is free for 30 days after you install the app. To keep using them after that, an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription is required.

You can now set or clear the reference photo straight from the gallery list, and while a photo is pinned the screen shows that the gauge is measuring against the previous shot. The overlap estimate is now correct when zoomed in. The app is now also in German, French and Italian, and has an appearance setting (system, natural, light, dark). Tap an icon to see what it does. Restore Purchases now confirms when your subscription is already active, and the subscription screen no longer mentions a free trial you cannot get. Also fixed: at the largest text size the button on the first screen fell off the screen. The camera now turns off when you leave the shooting screen. Fixed: people on a free trial could be locked out when the app couldn't connect. Fixed text that was hard to read in dark appearance, and the appearance picker and new-project field breaking at the largest text size. The app no longer shows a raw English error when the camera can't be used.
