Balance is the measurement of how well your eyes, ears, muscles, and brain work together to keep you up.
Our balance changes.
Stēla helps you understand the system that you rely on every day. Eight short tests, about five minutes with your phone, and you have a reading of what your balance is and which way it's moving.
WHAT YOU GET
A single number that reflects how you perform across the session, plus the individual test scores that feed it. Each test isolates a different sensory system, so the comparison between your scores reveal which system is carrying load and which is drifting.

THE 8-TESTS
• Standing, eyes open
• Standing, eyes closed

• Dual task, arithmetic
• Dual task, verbal fluency
Vision, inner ear (vestibular), body position sensing (proprioception), and reactive control each get their own window. Dual tasks add cognitive load, because real balance in the world rarely happens in silence.

WHAT STĒLA IS AND IS NOT
Stēla is a measurement. It produces quantitative postural sway data intended for self-observation, clinical supplementation, and longitudinal tracking. It is not a diagnostic device. It does not screen for, diagnose, or treat any medical condition. Clinical judgment remains with the supervising clinician. If you have a known fall history, vestibular disorder, or neurological condition, consult a clinician before using Stēla unsupervised.
THE SCIENCE
Stēla uses peer-reviewed measurement methods adapted for phone-based sensors. Test-retest reliability, scoring methodology are documented on stelabalance.com/science/, with 24 references.
PRIVACY, PLAINLY
Your account details are stored securely, never sold, and never shared for advertising. Session data syncs to encrypted cloud infrastructure for backup and cross-device access. Account deletion is available in-app at any time.
