Volario: Paragliding Vario
Plan, Fly & Analyze Your XC
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
A vario that reacts instantly. Your phone's barometer and motion sensors combined, as fast as a high-end vario. No external hardware needed.
Volario brings planning, flying and analyzing together in one app for paragliding and hang gliding. Plan your XC at home, fly it with a vario that reacts instantly, and relive it afterwards in your logbook and in 3D.
A VARIO THAT REACTS INSTANTLY
On its own, a phone's barometer can react a second or more late. Volario combines it with your phone's motion sensors (an IMU vario), so the vario responds the moment you enter a thermal. Flown side by side with a high-end vario, it reacted just as fast. No extra hardware, nothing to charge.
PLAN
- Plan XC routes and FAI triangles on topo and relief maps.
- Check the airspace along your route, with classes, altitudes and activation times.
- See thermal hotspots and skyways (thermal.kk7.ch), takeoffs and landing fields worldwide.
- Study new sites in 3D terrain before you go.
- Download regions and routes to fly without signal.
FLY
- Build your own cockpit: place, resize and combine instruments on a grid, across several pages.
- Wave a hand over the phone to zoom the map or switch pages. No tapping with gloves.
- Navigate to waypoints, goal and competition tasks, with airspace warnings before you reach a boundary.
- Live tracking: see your friends on the map, whatever phone they fly with.
- Works with Bluetooth varios such as XC Tracer, BlueFly and Flytec, and any instrument sending LK8EX1 or LXWP0.
- Signed IGC recording that starts and stops automatically.
ANALYZE AND REMEMBER
- In-depth statistics for every flight: duration, distance, altitudes, climb rates, speeds, thermals and XC score.
- Personal records and XC bests, per year or across all your flights.
- Gallery: add photos and videos to your flights and find your flying memories in one place.
- Relive every flight in 3D over real terrain, and compare flights.
- Share a flight card or a summary of your year.
FREE AND PRO
Free: fast vario and flight instruments, custom cockpit, all maps, all airspaces with activation times, IGC recording, logbook, statistics, gallery, 3D replay, Bluetooth varios, watching live tracking.
Volario Pro (subscription) adds:
- Navigation to waypoints, goal and competition tasks with start gates
- Thermal assistant and thermal profile
- Airspace warnings, airspace instruments and airspace altitudes in your units
- Elevation profile along your course
- Offline maps for regions and routes
- Creating groups and live tracking in the cockpit
- Second map layout, FAI sectors, track colored by climb
The fast vario needs a phone with a barometer.
Available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Czech, Japanese and Korean.
