Optional focus protection
If you want help keeping distractions away while you read, Word First can optionally use Apple’s Screen Time tools to hold selected apps until your chosen reading time is complete. You decide whether to enable it, which apps should wait, and how long you want to read.
When enabled, blocked apps show a daily Scripture passage and a clear path back to Word First. Temporary unlocks remain available when you genuinely need an app.
Use Word First without app blocking and the complete devotional, prayer, study, memorization, journal, sharing, and Companions experience remains available.

Reading, Saved, and Companions actions are now easier to find and use, with calmer confirmations and improved large-text and keyboard behavior.
For those who choose to enable focus protection, blocked apps now show one Scripture passage each day, with clearer Return to Home and temporary-unlock guidance. The redesigned Manage Apps screen also explains your privacy before Apple’s private picker opens.
The complete devotional, prayer, study, memorization, journal, sharing, and Companions experience remains available without app blocking.
