Discover the sonic diversity of South Asia — directly on your mobile device.
Rangiin allows you to intuitively play instruments such as the sitar, sarod, tanpura, and various vinas on your mobile device. The instruments in Rangiin do not just sound like their originals — they feel like them. Instead of static recordings, we rely on physical modeling: every string and every resonance is calculated in real time. This way, the sound responds directly to your touch — lively, dynamic, and expressive.
Rangiin also supports AUv3: Use Rangiin as a plug-in directly within your favorite DAW like Logic Pro for iPad, AUM, or Cubasis. Seamlessly integratethese expressive physical modeling instruments into your mobile production workflow.
Key features:
Pluck strings with varying intensity.
Shape tones through natural finger movements.
Play melody and drone simultaneously — just like on a real instrument.
Whether you are a beginner or a musician: Rangiin makes complex instruments immediately accessible.
Rangiin opens the door to a fascinating musical tradition: from the shimmering sitar to the deep, meditative rudravina. For centuries, these instruments have shaped the music of Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and India — from classical raga to film and folk music. While the sitar became world-famous through musicians like Ravi Shankar and George Harrison, instruments like the tanpura with its pervasive drone, the delicate sarod, or the profound tones of the rudravina also lend an impressive depth to any composition.
A unique feature of these instruments is the special shape of the bridge: unlike most European string instruments, the bridge is quite wide. As a result the vibrating string regularly strikes the bridge and creates a distinctive timbre, where the energy of the vibration is in a constant flow between all overtones. Physical modeling reproduces these dynamics with striking realism — for a sound that you cannot just hear, but also feel.
Rangiin is optimized for mobile use on iPhone and iPad. Support for desktop computers is limited to compatible host software on Macs with Apple Silicon.
Sounds great as a sitar owner and player, but it needs background audio in standalone mode, it does work in as an AU however. The touch screen is about half the volume of having a midi control/keys connected. It’s a great start! I’m having so much fun playing it and driving my wife crazy with the sound of what she has called the “devil’s instrument” for the last 30 years.
Developer Response
Thank you for your feedback. We'll look into the issue about the volume being inconsistent. Great that you have fun playing and apologies to your wife!
Poor UI ruins the intent of this instrument.

03 Jun 2026: My knowledge about Indian instruments is about as remote as my cabin on the moon. I’d like to think after listening to the Shankars that that might be within reach and of course it is; however, in the dark mode on an iPad, the UI on this app is so dark you can hardly see anything which I think is odd and steeped in darkness rather than good human interfacing. I think this could be fun with AUM and other AUv3 plug-ins. I just hope the UI is u-dated so I can see it.08 Jun 2026: The developer wrote back basically proposing on of two solutions:(1) Increase the contrast, or(2) Add a Light Mode.I’d prefer increasing the contrast since I never use the light mode on my iPad. But, maybe, it should be voted on or do both. I hate to see the Ranglin app pushed to the wayside due to poor visual representation. From what I was able to do, it seems like it has a lot of potential.
Developer Response
Thank you for your feedback. We'll either increase the contrast in the UI or add a light theme in the near future. If you have a preference for either one, please drop us a line at https://ahangi.audio/contact-us/

Needs a mixer for balancing volumes of the drones. And a little larger note pads for more control. Needs different colors in the sections. It’s hard to see. And for $10.00 it’s not really worth it. Sounds nice though.
Developer Response
Great to hear that you like the sound! Thank you for the hints on what to improve. By different colors in the sections you mean different colors for the melody string keys, the drone string keys etc., right? If I misunderstood you here or if you have other feedback, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us at https://ahangi.audio/contact-us/
-New color schemes (light, high contrast)
