more This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Amazing job and keep up the good work. I love being able to track all my guns, ammo on hand, and ammo expenditure from range trips.

I’ve tried several similar apps. This one is new but intuitive and helpful so far!

Collection depth, data portability, and stronger privacy.
• Malfunction log — record stoppages (failure to feed/fire/eject, light strikes, stovepipes, and more) per firearm to spot reliability patterns.
• Magazine tracking — capacity, quantity, rounds fired through, and a reliability rating for each magazine.
• Custom fields — add your own fields to any firearm: twist rate, zero distance, trigger weight, anything.
• Targets list — a browsable, sortable, filterable list of every analyzed target, with multi-select delete.
• Exclude a target from stats — keep sighting-in and fouling groups out of your averages and trends.
• Ammo cost-per-round trend — see how your price per round is moving, by caliber.
• Import from CSV — bring a collection over from a spreadsheet; parsed entirely on your device.
• Encrypted at rest — serial numbers and Form 4473 / acquisition details are now stored with on-device AES-256 encryption.
• Plus a round of refinements and fixes.

Two features in this update came straight from user feedback on launch day — keep it coming!
• Redesigned dashboard — your stats are now full-width cards you can actually read. Tap any card to jump straight to that section, and customize the lineup: choose from 14 cards and hold-and-drag to reorder them right on the dashboard.
• Delete any analyzed target — long-press a target thumbnail anywhere in the app, or use the new ⋯ menu on the results screen.
• Fix a target's details after the fact — Edit Session now lets you change the date & time, firearm, and range trip.
• Session notes now appear on the target results screen.
• Fixed: the dashboard's Recent Targets gallery now displays your recent targets.

v2.0 — The AI Update
This is the biggest Range Stats release yet — everything since 1.6, plus a whole new way to score your targets.
AUTOMATIC SHOT DETECTION
- Photograph your target and a custom-trained neural network marks the bullet holes for you — finding more than nine of every ten holes on typical range targets with almost no false marks. Works on light paper and dark silhouettes, and runs entirely on your device.
- A new Crop & Straighten step corrects angled photos so group size, MOA, and point of impact come out accurate.
AI COACHING — YOUR CHOICE OF AI
- Pick your provider: Google Gemini (default), Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, any OpenAI-compatible server, or Apple On-Device — private, offline coaching with no API key at all.
- Bring your own key, stored securely in the Keychain. You can even set the exact model each provider uses.
AN ALL-NEW LOOK
- Six full themes — Ember, Glacier, Gunmetal, Dusk, Alpenglow, and Fern — plus Light Mode (Light / Dark / System). Your previous theme migrates automatically.
850-MODEL FIREARM CATALOG
- 353 new entries, every one with a reference image. The accessory catalog grows to 527 models.
WIDGETS, FINALLY
- Thirteen Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets: rounds this year, cleaning due, your accuracy trend, ammo low-stock, permit countdown, your last scanned target, and a full iPad command center. A new Discreet Widgets option keeps firearm names and values off your home screen.
SAME DEAL, CLEARER SCREEN
- Pay once. Yours forever. No subscription — and the redesigned unlock screen now says so up front.
FIXES & POLISH
- A comprehensive usability and accessibility pass: clear "couldn't save" retries and discard confirmations so nothing gets lost, no more permission dead ends, full VoiceOver support for the shot editor and every chart, better dark-mode contrast, searchable pickers, locale-correct currency — and a ~27 MB smaller download.
- New here? Quick first-run walkthroughs and in-context tips help you get started — replay them anytime from Settings.

v1.6.1 — Hardening release
BACKUP & RESTORE
- Backups now fully cover the ammunition system: SKUs, purchases, and per-trip consumption are all included. Backups made in 1.5/1.6 still restore and convert automatically.
- Retired the legacy ammunition model. A one-time migration converts any old inventory into the unified SKU + purchase system, preserving on-hand counts. The duplicate legacy ammo picker in Add Trip is gone.
PERFORMANCE & STABILITY
- Exports now run off the main thread for a smoother UI during export.
- AI daily-quota tracking is now atomic — no more rare races that could let usage slip over the daily limit.
- Internal cleanup: removed dead code and resolved pre-existing lint errors.
UI POLISH
- The onboarding "Add Your First Firearm" button now properly completes onboarding.
- Performance Trends distance filter now works correctly when the unit is meters.
- The Firearm Comparison screen now scrolls when content overflows.
- Range search is now bounded to the visible map area, and your Default Map Type setting is actually applied.
- Eight add/edit forms standardized on a consistent toolbar Cancel/Save layout.
BUG FIXES
- Deleting a firearm now also removes its leftover ammo-consumption records.
- Add Trip no longer silently discards entries missing a firearm — it reports the problem.
- Adding an ammo purchase now blocks a negative cost.
- Exported files are timestamped more precisely to avoid name collisions during rapid exports.
- Testing your AI coaching API key now correctly distinguishes an invalid key from a temporary network problem.

What's New in v1.6:
AMMUNITION MANAGEMENT (NEW)
Track every box and round. Catalog ammo by brand, caliber, grain, and bullet type. Log purchases per vendor with full purchase history. Per-trip consumption automatically deducts from your stock. Configurable low-stock alerts so you never run dry before range day. Vendor management included as a first-class feature.
PRIVACY HARDENING
- Lock screen masks firearm details in the app switcher and over open sheets
- Notifications no longer reveal firearm names, calibers, or certification details on the lock screen
- CSV exports hardened against spreadsheet formula injection (CWE-1236)
- Exported PDFs use file-level encryption on disk
- Photo imports auto-downsample to prevent memory pressure
FIXES & STABILITY
- Retired firearms no longer count toward the free-tier limit
- Filter chips now correctly update summary tiles (round counts, inventory value, accessory totals)
- Paywall and lock-screen gates unified across every entry point
- Lock-state lifecycle managed by a single source of truth
- Backup restore validates file size before loading
- 30+ smaller fixes throughout the app
