more ### New Features
* Show a separate, synchronized karaoke view for the audience: use the new Screen 2 button in the karaoke controls to open a clean lyrics-only window that can be moved or enlarged independently while you keep the playback controls on your own screen. On multi-monitor setups, it opens automatically on the external display the first time and remembers its position afterwards.
### Improvements
* The karaoke controls now group fullscreen and second-screen controls together in the main panel, with clearer previous/next buttons for selecting the lead-vocal channel.
* Tempo, key and volume can now be entered precisely by double-clicking their LCD displays. Press Enter or click outside the field to confirm the value, or press Escape to cancel the edit.
### Fixes
* The Virtual Piano now highlights the notes you actually hear after changing KEY, instead of continuing to show the song's original notes. Drum-kit keys remain unchanged.

### New features
- Show a separate, synchronized karaoke view for the audience: use the new Screen 2 button in the karaoke controls to open a clean lyrics-only window, ready to move or enlarge independently while you keep the playback controls on your own screen. On a multi-monitor setup it opens on the external display automatically the first time, then remembers where you leave it.
### Improvements
- The karaoke controls now put fullscreen and the second-screen shortcut together in the main panel, and use clearer previous/next buttons when choosing the lead-vocal channel.

- Every export — audio, video and lyrics alike — failed there with "Permission denied: choose another destination folder", whatever folder you picked; the folder was never the problem. That copy of the app is only allowed to write the exact file you confirm in the save panel, and the app was preparing the file under a temporary name alongside it. Nothing was wrong with your setup, and no export you had already saved was affected.
- Exporting to MP3 now works on the published versions of the app. The MP3 encoder was left out of the packages built for the two stores, so that one format failed — with a message about the destination folder that pointed at the wrong thing entirely — while WAV, video and lyrics exported normally.
- When your system can't produce MP4 video, the save panel now offers the WebM name straight away, and says so before the export starts, instead of changing the extension once the rendering is over. On the App Store version, that late change was enough to make the video export fail outright.
- An export that can't run at all — no supported video format on the system — now says so in a couple of seconds, rather than after rendering the whole video.

NEW FEATURES
• Copy lyrics directly from the karaoke window: right-click anywhere on the text to copy the whole song, ready to paste into a document. A new option in Settings → Karaoke also makes the text selectable with the mouse, so you can copy just part of it with Cmd/Ctrl+C. The option is disabled by default, preventing accidental text selection during a performance.
• The karaoke font is now available in Settings → Karaoke, alongside text size and line spacing, instead of only under Appearance.
IMPROVEMENTS
• Every font picker now includes a × button to restore the theme’s font, just like the colour pickers.
• Exported karaoke videos are noticeably faster to produce.
• Export errors, such as insufficient disk space or denied permissions, are now explained with clearer messages.
FIXES
• Library searches are no longer affected by accents: “perche” finds “Perché”, “perché” finds “Perche”, and “uber” finds “Über”. The library is updated automatically the first time this version is opened.
• Blank lines no longer appear between verses in .kar files. Reported by Giovanni.
• Web addresses in song credits are no longer split at “https://”. Reported by Giovanni.
• Exported videos now correctly use the karaoke font, colours and line spacing.
• Fixed overlapping uppercase lyrics in exported videos.
• When H.264 is unavailable, videos are correctly exported and named as WebM instead of producing an unplayable MP4 file.
• Interrupted exports no longer leave incomplete files behind or destroy the file being replaced.
• An unreadable folder no longer empties the library: the source is now marked with a warning instead.
• .rmi files can now be dragged onto the playlist.
• Tempo now uses the same range everywhere in the app.
• Drum kits assigned to channels other than channel 10 are now recognised correctly and are no longer transposed when sent to an external MIDI device.
• The re-authorization banner now appears at startup.
• Windows saved on a disconnected monitor now reopen within the visible screen area.
• Completed the French and Japanese translations for the Export window and the latest karaoke settings.
• Fixed three buttons that displayed their internal names instead of translated labels.
• “Open app data folder” in Settings → Advanced now opens the correct folder containing soundfonts, themes and languages.
• The piano window title bar now displays the translated name.

### New features
- Export your songs to audio: render any track to WAV or MP3 (choose the bitrate) with ID3 tags filled in automatically. A toggle lets you bake in your current setup — mixer levels, tempo and key — or export the song as it originally is (from the new Export window).
- Export karaoke videos: turn a song into an MP4 (or WebM) with the on-screen lyrics burned in and synced to the music, so you can share a ready-to-play karaoke clip. The video mirrors the live karaoke look — font, outline, text case and layout.
- Export lyrics on their own: save a track's lyrics as a synced `.lrc` file or plain `.txt`, from the same Export window.
- Paged karaoke display (vanBasco style): the lyrics can now advance a page at a time instead of scrolling, with a configurable line spacing (Settings → Appearance).
- The piano input volume you set in Settings is now remembered between sessions.
### Improvements
- The former "Export Audio" window is now simply the "Export" window, gathering audio, video and lyrics export in one place.
- Karaoke text case (upper/lower/as-is) is now honored in exported videos just like on screen.
### Fixes
- No more audio crackle during an export: the render no longer starves the audio engine.
- Cancelling an export now always returns the app cleanly to its idle state, even if you stop it during the pre-render wait.
- The exported video's lyrics stay locked to the real rendered audio — no more text lagging behind the music.
- The karaoke font is loaded before rendering starts, so exported videos always use the right typeface instead of a fallback.
- Windows: the user folders (soundfonts, themes, languages) are created on the fly when opened, instead of failing if they didn't exist yet.

### Fixes
Windows now remember their position, not just their size: on every platform, they reopen where you left them, on the right monitor in a multi-display setup. The last move before quitting is no longer lost.

### New features
- MIDI input routing: choose which connected MIDI keyboard plays the piano, or listen to all of them at once (Settings → MIDI / Routing)
- MIDI output routing: send MIDI to an external device in two modes — *Forward* keeps the internal synth, mixer and visuals while sending in parallel; *Direct* drives the device with precise hardware timing, bypassing the internal synth
- Use any font installed on your system for the interface, LCD readout and karaoke text, alongside the bundled fonts (Settings → Appearance)
- Optional "play with the computer keyboard" toggle for the virtual piano
### Improvements
- Settings shows an input-activity light indicating which MIDI device is sending signal
- The Karaoke font selector now lives in Settings → Appearance, alongside the interface and LCD fonts
- A loading indicator appears while the system fonts are being read
- In "All devices" input mode the selected MIDI output is automatically excluded to avoid feedback loops; a warning appears if you deliberately choose the same device for input and output
- The player progress bar stays inactive until a track is loaded

1.1.288 May 29
### New Features
This version introduces several improvements designed to make Karakara smoother, more stable and more enjoyable to use.
The File Explorer can now automatically hide empty folders, making navigation through large MIDI libraries cleaner and more organized.
Playlists are now smarter: after a new scan, Karakara can automatically recover tracks even when folders have been renamed or moved, using content-based matching instead of relying only on file paths.
A full playlist backup feature has been added, allowing playlists to be exported as a ZIP archive. Playlists now also show a clear indicator for the currently playing track.
The Player, Mixer and Settings windows now support proportional resizing and remember their dimensions between sessions. The Settings window also supports zoom up to 2x.
### Improvements
The File Explorer search field now stays visible and preserves the entered query, making it easier to keep browsing your library.
Folder interaction in the File Explorer has been refined: folders now expand only via the arrow, icon or double-click, helping prevent accidental openings.
The File Explorer now opens automatically on first launch and after a reset, making the initial experience more immediate.
Missing playlist entries are now marked as “orphan” instead of disappearing silently. Playback of unavailable files is blocked with a dedicated warning.
The Settings reset now performs a full app restart and restores the fresh-install state.
The Player initial state is now cleaner: the info icon is dimmed and BPM values remain hidden until the player is ready.
In Karaoke mode, the tempo control now shows the real BPM in real time, with an adaptive step of approximately 3 BPM.
### Fixes
The Playlist “Reset” button now correctly clears all items.
Native text shortcuts — Copy, Paste, Cut and Undo — now work across the entire app thanks to the new Edit menu.
The Karaoke tempo tooltip and label have been correctly translated as “Tempo (BPM)”.
