Athena: Fight Camp
Fight Camp, Fully Optimised
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Athena
Fight camp nutrition and weight management for combat sports athletes.
Athena is built for amateur and semi professional fighters across Muay Thai, boxing, MMA, and grappling who need to make weight, perform better, and stay consistent without a full time nutritionist.
Subscription Required
Access all features with a monthly auto renewing subscription. Start with a 7 day free trial. Cancel anytime before the trial ends and you will not be charged.
Adaptive Weight Cut Management
Athena tracks your weight daily and adjusts your nutrition targets in real time. When you are dropping too fast, losing muscle, or stalling, the system recalibrates to keep your cut on schedule without sacrificing performance.
AI Generated Meal Plans
Get a full week of meals built around your targets, training schedule, and preferences. Swap meals with AI generated alternatives, customise for fight week, and generate meals based on what is available around you.
Restaurant and Travel Logging
Training abroad or eating out? Type any dish and Athena estimates the macros instantly. Adjust portions and log meals in seconds without relying on barcode scans or guesswork.
Training Aware Fueling
Nutrition adapts automatically to training days versus rest days. Carbs are timed around sessions, protein remains consistent, and targets shift based on your workload.
AI Nutrition Assistant
Ask questions about your cut, your meals, your recovery, or your energy levels and receive guidance based on your actual data rather than generic advice.
Performance Check Ins
Log energy, soreness, sleep, and session quality after training. Athena connects nutrition and recovery trends to performance and flags issues before they become bigger problems.
Fight Reviews
Review every camp from pre fight to post fight. Track what worked, what did not, and carry lessons forward into future recommendations.
WHOOP Integration
Connect your WHOOP account to sync recovery, HRV, strain, and sleep data. Athena adjusts recommendations based on how recovered you actually are.
Apple Health Integration
Sync workouts, activity, and health data directly through Apple Health for a more complete picture of training load and recovery.
Barcode Scanner
Scan packaged foods and instantly log macros without manually entering nutrition data.
Fight Camp Insights
Track weight trajectory, nutrition consistency, recovery patterns, and overall camp trends so you arrive at fight week informed and prepared.

more UPGRADED: Check-Ins Now Analyze Like a Real Coach
The session check-in has been completely overhauled. Athena now reads your entire athletic profile to deliver highly contextualized recommendations. At every check-in, the system automatically analyzes:
Nutrition & Weight Trends: Today's intake, 7-day rolling averages, and actual weight velocity.
Training & Biometrics: 7-day training load, WHOOP data (Recovery, HRV, Sleep, Strain), and consecutive low-recovery flags.
Injury & Wellness Tracking: Active injuries, illness flags, and subjective session ratings from your 14-day journal.
Cut Plan Projection: Real-time alignment between your remaining weight target and required weekly rate.
Plus: The "Tell Athena More" feature now cross-references your subjective input against this entire background dataset for precise, coach-level plan refinements.
Nutrition Log Upgrades
Macro Progress: Swapped priorities based on tester feedback. Large numbers now display total consumed macros, with remaining targets shown in smaller text below.
Food Data Sanity Filter: Integrated automatic filtering to reject impossible nutritional data (e.g., total macros exceeding 100g per 100g of weight) from OpenFoodFacts and USDA databases.
UI Clarity: Updated the barcode sheet icon to a Camera icon to accurately reflect the manual photo logging workflow.
Performance & Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug where a past fight date would incorrectly lock the app into "FIGHT WEEK" mode.
Resolved calculation errors where stale profile weights were being used instead of your latest, actual logged weight for AI cut context and carb boost ceilings.
Fixed rate-per-week calculations when multiple weight entries were logged on the same calendar day.
Replaced the blank screen error on failed AI calls with a clean error message and a dedicated "Try Again" button.

Bug fixes and general improvements.
1.5.2 Jun 6
Weight Projection — Fixed
The cut tracker was showing a nonsense projected landing weight. Replaced the old calculation with a 30-day linear regression so the projection actually reflects your trend, not a single bad reading.
Multiple Sessions Per Day — Added
Fighters can now log two-a-days properly. Morning boxing + afternoon strength? Log both separately, each with their own blocks and structure. No more forcing everything into one session.
Boxing Session Types — Added
New training categories built for strikers: Pads, Bag Work, Shadow Boxing, and Footwork. Each has its own icon, colour, and default drill blocks.
Takeaway / Fast Food — Added
Real life happens. Added a full Takeaway category to the food library — chicken shawarma, kebabs, pizza, burgers, fried chicken, biryani, chow mein, Subway, and more. Log it without guilt, track it accurately.
Fiber & Sodium — Fixed
Both were showing "tracking" with no goal or progress bar. Now display proper daily targets (30g fiber, 2300mg sodium) just like every other micronutrient.
Ghost Profiles — Fixed
Phantom accounts were appearing in the backend with weight data but no name or email. Locked down the sync so profiles only push to the server after onboarding is fully complete.

Athena — Recent Feature Updates
Session Check-In
Log how a session felt in under 30 seconds. Athena evaluates energy, recovery, striking quality, mood, appetite, and limiting factors simultaneously — then generates 3 specific AI recommendations with a confidence score and applies a carb boost directly to the day's nutrition target where glycogen depletion is flagged. Actioned recommendations persist to the home screen.
Subjective Refinement
After the initial read, fighters can describe how they actually feel in plain language. Athena re-evaluates with this new context, calls out any conflict with the objective data, and returns updated recommendations labelled as refined. If an injury is mentioned, the response includes a specific management protocol and a clear threshold for when to stop training and see a physio.
Carb Periodisation
Carb targets now adjust dynamically based on training load and recovery signals — not just a fixed training day vs rest day split. When a check-in flags glycogen depletion or critical recovery, the carb boost is applied in real time and carried forward through the day, including into any AI recommendations generated in that session. For fight week, a separate restriction protocol tapers carbs progressively with an AI advisor that accounts for the fighter's current weight gap, weigh-in type, and days remaining.
Fight Review Tactical Brief
Athena synthesises every documented fight to identify the single recurring pattern holding the fighter back, then produces 2–3 training objectives grounded in actual fight history. Written in the voice of a personal coach — using the fighter's name, addressing them directly. Automatically highlighted in the 48 hours before a fight. All drills use standard gym equipment only.
Micronutrient Tracking
Iron, magnesium, and vitamin C are tracked alongside macros on every food log. When intake drops below threshold, Athena flags the deficiency, names the specific food and amount needed, and routes the alert to the relevant part of the app. For WHOOP users, recommendations are cross-referenced against sleep, strain, and resting heart rate to determine whether a deficiency is actively affecting performance.

Your AI Corner Man Just Got Smarter
AI-Powered Nutrition Targets
Athena now sets your daily calories and macros using real data — your body weight, fight timeline, training schedule, and live WHOOP recovery score. Green light day? More carbs. Recovery in the red? Athena pulls back the deficit so you don't dig yourself a hole.
The New Fuel Planner
The meal tab is rebuilt from scratch. See exactly how much you've hit vs. how much you have left — calories, protein, carbs, fat — all in one glance. Slot your meals into Pre-Training, Post-Training, Breakfast and more. Every food you log updates your targets in real time.
Smarter Onboarding
Drop in your height and age during setup and Athena's recommendations get sharper immediately — more accurate TDEE, tighter macro splits, better cut pacing.
Calorie Math Fixed
A reported issue where the meal plan calories didn't add up has been fully resolved. Every number on screen now traces back to a single source of truth — no more phantom calories.

Quick Add: Eat Out Without Losing Track
Training in Thailand? Grabbing food between sessions? Type any dish — Pad Thai, green curry, shawarma, a burger — and Athena estimates the macros instantly. Tap a common dish chip or describe anything in free text. Adjust the portion slider, fine-tune any number directly, and log in seconds. Your recent meals are saved so repeat orders are instant with zero API call.
Smarter Meal Recommendations
The AI no longer defaults to chicken and rice. Meal suggestions now rotate across cuisines, respect carb timing around training, and never repeat the same options twice in a row. Asking for "something more protein focused" or "a different option" works exactly as you'd expect.
Meal Plan: Swap Meals That Actually Work
Opening a meal's swap options now shows a clear Use this button on every alternative — no more guessing that the row is tappable. Options load cleanly with a skeleton state while the AI generates, so the list no longer jumps and replaces itself after a few seconds.
Adaptive Cut System
Your post-fight review now feeds directly into Athena's cut logic. Calorie and carb adjustments in your next camp are automatically scaled based on how hard your last cut was and how sensitive your recovery is — not a fixed template.
1.3.7 May 14
"Manual Entry" (camera button → action sheet) now opens the new quick macro sheet instead of the per-100g food builder.
"Log macros" shortcut appears inline in the ADD FOOD section (red, next to "Create custom food") — always visible without needing to touch the camera button at all.
QuickMacroEntrySheet is the new sheet:
• Optional meal name field
• Three large number-pad fields: Protein / Carbs / Fat (in grams — just totals, not per 100g)
• Live calorie counter updates as you type (p×4 + c×4 + f×9)
• "Add to Log" enables once any macro > 0
• Logs as "1 serving · X kcal" and dismisses — nothing saved to the library
1.3.4 May 11
New Features
• Post Weigh-In Recovery Day — After your weigh-in, Athena now gives you a dedicated recovery protocol with rehydration targets, calorie guidance, and sodium recommendations to help you perform at your best on fight day
• Annual Subscription — Athena Premium is now available as a yearly plan at a discounted rate
• 7-Day Free Trial — New subscribers can now try Athena Premium free before being charged
Improvements
• Updated in-app guide with the latest features including Fight IQ, Ask Athena, and Cut Protocol walkthroughs
• Cut Protocol header now correctly shows "Fight Day" or "Recovery Day" on your weigh-in day instead of a countdown
• Paywall updated with clearer pricing and plan options
Bug Fixes
• Fixed a bug where your profile data (weight class, current weight) could revert to old values after updating your settings — this was the most commonly reported issue and is now resolved
• Fixed a rare issue where changing your training schedule could overwrite other profile data

What's New
This update is all under the hood — faster, more reliable, and smarter where it counts.
Sync that actually works
Your data now syncs in the background every time you open the app. If you go offline and log a weight or meal, it pushes as soon as you reconnect. No more silent gaps. The top bar now shows exactly when your last sync happened — and flags it if something's wrong so you can retry with a tap.
Weight logging — your entry always wins
If you log weight offline and the cloud has a different value, your entry is kept. No more silent overwrites.
AI timing — no more hangs
The "Athena is tailoring tomorrow's timing" message now has a 15-second limit and a Cancel button. If your connection stalls, you're not stuck.
WHOOP refresh feedback
The refresh button now turns red and shows an error card if the fetch fails, so you know something went wrong instead of wondering why nothing updated.
Calendar access fixed for good
If you previously denied calendar permission and re-granted it in iOS Settings, the app now picks it up the moment you return — no reinstall needed.
Journal deduplication
A quick double-tap on the submit button no longer creates two identical entries.
European number keyboards
Weight entries using a comma as the decimal separator (e.g. 70,4) now parse correctly on all locales.
1.2.3 Apr 29
• Weight logging now works on all devices, regardless of language or keyboard settings
• Your data now syncs reliably across devices
• Bug fixes and performance improvements
1.2.2 Apr 29
What's New
• Smarter Athena AI — Athena now gives direct training and nutrition advice without the generic disclaimers. Ask for a weekly plan and she'll build you a full table with HR zones, S&C notes, and session structure. She also knows your injuries, schedule, and heart rate zones so every answer is specific to you.
• Weight graph now works from day one — The chart draws properly even with just one entry logged, so you can see your trajectory from the moment you start.
• Cleaner home screen — The Stay Ready card has been redesigned. Your current weight is front and centre with a clear drift indicator so you know at a glance if you're on pace, slightly off, or need to adjust.
• Injury & HR zone settings — You can now add active injuries and your max heart rate in your fight profile. Athena uses these automatically when giving training advice.
• Weight entries no longer reset — Fixed a bug where the weight screen wouldn't update after a background sync. Your logged entries now stay consistent across the whole app.
1.2.1 Apr 28
Fight Week Mode
Fighters told us they cut carbs completely in the final week before a fight. Now there's a single button to do exactly that — one tap switches your entire meal plan to a zero-carb, high-fat protocol built for final-week depletion. Tap it again to go back to your normal plan. No forms, no rebuilding from scratch.
Every part of the app now respects fight week mode — whether you're swapping a single meal, regenerating a day, or browsing alternatives, you'll only ever see fight-week-appropriate options while it's active.
WHOOP Connection — Reliability Fix
Fixed a bug in how the app handshakes with WHOOP during login. Some users on certain WHOOP accounts were getting a connection error even after completing the sign-in screen. This is now resolved — the connection process is more robust and works correctly across all accounts.
1.1.9 Apr 26
Bugs and UX improvements.
1.1.8 Apr 22
What's New — Meal Planner
• Your plan is saved. Build it once, come back anytime — even after closing the app. Your full week of meals is always there.
• Shopping list remembers you. Check off items as you shop. Reopen the list later — everything stays ticked. No more starting from scratch mid-supermarket.
• Smarter meal prep guide. The prep guide reads your actual plan. It tells you exactly what to batch cook, how many meals each ingredient covers, and how long it takes. No generic advice.
• Your preferences actually matter. Training load, meals per day, foods to avoid — the plan builds around what you told it, not a one-size-fits-all template.
• New: Manual training adjustment. Change your weekly training routine manually. More sessions? Fewer? The meal plan adjusts instantly.
• New: AI assistant. Tell Athena what you need — "more carbs before evening sessions" or "I've got a hard sparring day tomorrow" — and the AI updates your plan. No digging through settings.
1.1.6 Apr 20
Bug Fixes & Accuracy
• Weight tracking delta fixed — The app was incorrectly showing extreme weight changes (e.g. "↓ 67.5kg from yesterday") due to a calculation error. Weight changes now display correctly.
• Nutrition targets now consistent across the app — Protein, carbs, fat and calorie targets were showing different numbers on the Home screen vs the Fuel/Meal Plan screen. All screens now pull from the same profile-driven formula based on your actual weight and training schedule.
• 7-day average no longer crashes on first use — New users with no weight history logged would see a blank or broken average. This is now handled gracefully.
UI & Display
• Milestone bar now flags impossible weight states — If your logged weight is already below your fight weight (e.g. a data entry error in onboarding), the app now surfaces a clear amber warning directing you to check your settings, rather than silently showing a full progress bar.
• Walk-around milestone label clarified — The distance-to-target label under the walk-around card previously showed confusing values like "−0.0kg away". It now reads "X.Xkg to go" or "on target".
• Sign-in screen button sizing fixed — "Continue with email" and "Continue with Apple" buttons are now visually consistent in size and weight.

What's New in Athena
Your fight prep just got a serious upgrade.
WHOOP Connected
Link your WHOOP strap and Athena reads your recovery score, HRV, sleep quality, and daily strain — automatically. No manual input. Wake up and know exactly how hard you can push today.
AI Meal Plan
Tell Athena your goal and training schedule. Get a full week of fighter-specific meals in under 60 seconds — built around your cut, your macros, and your training days. Swap any meal you don't like with one tap. Athena generates four alternatives instantly.
Your shopping list builds itself from the plan. Your meal prep guide tells you exactly what to cook and when. Tick off meals as you eat them and they log straight to your nutrition tracker.
Smarter Home Screen
Your dashboard now shows everything that matters in one place:
• Live Apple Health data — active calories, steps, and workouts for today
• Your calendar — training sessions pulled in automatically, so Athena knows when to fuel you up
• Tomorrow's plan — meal and hydration timing built around your next day's schedule
• Cut risk status — green, amber, or red. Know if you're on pace or falling behind
Built to Last Camp
Full cloud sync keeps your data safe and accessible across sessions. Apple Sign In for one-tap account creation. Everything works offline and syncs when you're back online.
1.1.2 Apr 15
What's New in Athena
Smarter onboarding, built for fighters.
We've completely reworked the setup experience so Athena feels personal from the moment you open it. Answer a few quick questions about your camp — your weight cut, training schedule, and biggest challenge — and Athena builds a plan specific to you.
Body fat-aware cut planning.
Athena now factors in your body fat percentage to tell you what's actually achievable before you commit to a weight class. See your realistic fat loss range and water cut split — not just a number on a scale.
Honest weight cut modelling.
Cuts aren't linear. Athena now shows your camp in two phases: your diet phase pace week by week, and your final water cut window — because that's how fight camps actually work.
A home screen that tells you what matters.
Open the app and instantly see your fight status in one line. On track. Behind pace. Every day matters. No digging required.
Training days, simplified.
Tap the days you train. That's it. Green means go.
Bug fixes and performance improvements.
1.1.1 Apr 8
Food Log — Major Update
3.7 million foods. Instant results. No dead ends.
What's New
Massive database upgrade
Three food sources now work together — local staples load instantly, USDA's 700,000 verified foods and Open Food Facts' 3 million products search in parallel. Most results appear in under a second.
Smarter search
Type how you actually talk. "Ground beef" finds beef mince. "Yogurt" finds Greek yoghurt. "Shrimp", "steak", "protein shake" — all work exactly as expected.
Recent foods
Your last 10 logged foods appear at the top every time. Log chicken and rice every day — find it in one tap.
Can't find it? Add it yourself
If something's not in any database, hit "Add manually" — the form pre-fills your search term and you're done in seconds. It saves to your recents automatically.
Honest error messages
If a search fails, you'll know why — and you'll always have a way forward.
1.0.9 Apr 6
Sign In with Apple
You can now sign in securely using your Apple ID. Sign in once and your account is tied to your Apple credentials — no passwords, no email required. Your identity is protected and Athena never sees your personal Apple account details.
Your Data is Now Backed Up
Everything you log is automatically saved to the cloud and restored on any device you sign in to. Nothing gets lost if you change phone, reinstall the app, or delete and redownload.
What syncs:
• Weight history — every weigh-in you've ever logged
• Nutrition logs — daily food, water, and activity entries across your full fight camp
• Journal entries — all performance, sparring, and recovery reflections
• Meal plan — your swap selections and any custom meals you've built
• Profile — fight weight, fight date, training days, and unit preference (kg/lbs)
Offline First
The app works exactly the same without internet. Everything saves locally as normal, and syncs silently in the background whenever you're connected. You'll never hit a loading screen waiting for the cloud.
Upgrade from an Earlier Version
If you've been using Athena already — your existing weight logs, journal entries, and meal plan are automatically migrated to the cloud the first time you sign in. Nothing is lost.
1.0.8 Apr 6
Athena now delivers a much smarter fight-camp experience with Apple Health + Calendar-aware planning, dynamic macro targets based on your profile/workload, improved weight-cut risk detection for aggressive timelines, and a new Activity Today flow in Nutrition that instantly adjusts daily calorie and carb targets after logged sessions.
We also added clearer calculation transparency in Settings, improved meal planning actions (including faster planned-meal logging behavior), polished profile/avatar personalization, and upgraded paywall messaging with professional purchase/restore success confirmations.
1.0.6 Apr 3
Version 1.0.5 introduces a major upgrade to Athena’s daily coaching flow for combat athletes: Apple Health and Apple Calendar integrations now power smarter home-screen recommendations, tomorrow planning now includes hydration and meal timing reminders, and athletes can edit core meal categories (breakfast, lunch, pre-workout, dinner, post-workout) with one-tap actions to mark meals eaten or skipped.
We also added AI-powered food scanning directly into nutrition logging (camera or photo library), improved calendar-aware scheduling context for Ask Athena, and strengthened in-app persistence so key coaching/chat and planning actions are retained more reliably between sessions.
1.0.5 Apr 2
UPGRADED: Check-Ins Now Analyze Like a Real Coach
