BookStax

The BookStacks app

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

BookStax – Your BookStack Wiki. In Your Pocket. You self-host your knowledge – so why should mobile access feel like a compromise? BookStax brings your BookStack wiki natively to iPhone. Fast, offline-ready, and built with privacy first. Read, Write, Search – All on iPhone Navigate your entire knowledge base using the familiar Shelves → Books → Chapters → Pages hierarchy. Breadcrumb navigation always shows where you are. Edit pages with a full Markdown editor – including live preview, formatting toolbar, image upload, and tag management. And when you're offline, the local cache keeps your content available anyway. Your Data. Your Server. Your Device. BookStax connects exclusively to your own BookStack instance. No third-party servers, no telemetry, no cloud accounts. Your API credentials are stored securely in the iOS Keychain – and nowhere else. Full GDPR compliance by design, because no personal data ever leaves your device. Features at a Glance - Full navigation through your BookStack hierarchy - Full-text search with filters by type and tags - Markdown editor with live preview and image upload - Offline read access via local cache - Secure connection via API token (iOS Keychain) - Light / Dark / System mode, 8 accent colors, adaptive app icon - Available in English, German, and Spanish Requirements A self-hosted BookStack instance (accessible via HTTPS) and an API token from your BookStack profile settings. No BookStack yet? Visit web.bookstax.app to get started in minutes. BookStax is free – for everyone who wants to truly own their knowledge.

New in BookStax 1.7: • Checkable task lists: Task boxes in the Reader are tappable; the change is persisted to the server immediately. Lists auto-continue in the editor. • Export sheet: Share pages, chapters and books as PDF, Markdown, plain text or HTML. • Smarter wiki links: Internal BookStack links open the target page in-app instead of in the browser. • Code blocks: Syntax highlighting (light & dark) plus a copy button on every block. • Biometric app lock: Optional Face ID / Touch ID with configurable grace period and a privacy overlay in the App Switcher. • Recycle Bin tab: Restore or permanently delete shelves, books, chapters and pages from one place. • Cross-promotion: A dedicated detail view for sibling apps (gyokuro, dock-g, Mobile MA) with real App-Store icons. • Iris is the new default theme — matching the app icon. • Theme selection now sticks across launches. • Large navigation title now renders in a deeper accent tone. • Long-press menus replaced by clear swipe actions. • Many small refinements.
