more Firstly, it’s a nice app. The user interface is good. I’m deeply concerned though by some of the low wagers I am seeing. I thought this was a gambling app. Would be helpful to filter out low wager matches as it makes me feel sad.

Fixes
Strokes on the expanded match card now match the handicap line above it — in five-player rounds a benched player was inflating everyone's stroke count. Shapiro details now show for watchers on the Live tab, and 5-3-1 points show for the scorekeeper. The Shapiro row on Settle now shows what each closed match paid or cost, adding up to the total.
Editing setup on a finished round now recalculates every match from the scores, so a match added or a handicap changed after play settles correctly.
2.15.3 4d ago
Adding a course, rebuilt
Search a course by name and pull in every tee — ratings, slopes, pars, yardages and stroke indexes. Results suggest as you type, and anything that doesn't look right is flagged before it's saved.
Scorekeeper takeover
Taking over scoring mid-round now works properly. The new scorekeeper lands on the scorecard and can score immediately, and the previous scorekeeper can take it back.
Scoring screen
Each hole now shows its stroke index and yardage.
Also
New players are asked for a display name at sign-in so teammates can find them. Corrected tee data at Miacomet and Charles River. Several new courses added, including Canoe Brook, Upper Montclair and Kiawah.
2.13.1 Sep 2
Todd Index
Your handicap index, computed from rounds played in the app. See your scoring record, which rounds are counting, and a hole-by-hole breakdown of any round. New "How the Todd Index works" page explains the math.
Player Lookup
Search players by name, alias, or home course and see their Todd Index. Ordered by who you play with most.
Home screen
Your alias, home course, Todd Index, and handicap at a glance. Tap to edit your handicap.
Privacy
A single Visibility setting controls whether other players can see your rounds and whether you appear on the stats leaderboard. Your Todd Index is always visible.
Also
Stroke index now shown on the scoring screen. Golf scoring notation — circles and squares — in the hole-by-hole view. River Vale Country Club added. Various fixes.
2.11.1 Aug 26
- Editing a finished round now works properly. Tap Edit scores, make your changes across any tab, then tap Done. The screen clearly shows when you're editing.
- Fixed a Shapiro staying open after it was already won. It now closes as soon as it's decided, freeing the next hole to start a new one.
- Fixed strokes appearing on different holes depending on which match you were looking at in a mixed-tee round. Everyone now plays off one stroke index.
- Scorecard strokes now default to the Shapiro or 5-3-1 when one is running.
- Fixed the Junk summary rendering as unspaced text.
- Fixed the guest badge showing unstyled.
- iPad support: the app now fills the screen instead of running in a phone-sized window.
2.7.2 Aug 12
- 5 and 6-player rounds: the scorecard now lets you pick which match to show strokes for, instead of guessing. Tap "Show strokes for…" above the scorecard.
- The "Show in search" toggle now actually works — previously it saved your choice but every round stayed searchable regardless.
- Carry status is clearer: "carrying" now appears in amber under the Back score once the front nine finishes tied, replacing the old symbol.
- The gear icon is now labeled "Setup" so it's findable.
- Hole winners are now shown in bold as well as green.
- You can now swipe to remove a round from your list.
- Bigger tap targets on the hole selector and junk buttons.
- Fixed the search screen's date field being hidden behind the keyboard.
- Removed the unused "Save Setup" feature.
2.5.0 Aug 5
- Fixed an issue where scorekeepers couldn't edit a completed round. Finished rounds now open to the Settle tab, and the Edit Scores and Edit Setup buttons are available from any tab.
2.4.0 Aug 4
This release fixes a large number of bugs found in a full-app audit:
- Junk winnings were missing from the settlement shown in Round History
- Rounds viewed on a new device or after a reinstall incorrectly showed "All square" instead of real amounts owed
- A match that finished all-square could never be edited, and live updates would freeze when a match evened up
- Course photos with an unreadable handicap row silently invented stroke indexes, putting strokes on the wrong holes
- A tee saved with a missing rating or slope settled the whole round at scratch
- Clearing your handicap, home course, or alias in Profile appeared to save but didn't
- Remembered Ways settings could apply the wrong config to Indy matches
- Home screen could crash on shotgun or back-nine-start rounds
- Home/followed-course notifications were reaching nobody despite showing as enabled
- Push notifications could go to the wrong person after switching accounts on a shared device
- A losing player received both the winning and losing notification
- Live matches vanished from search at midnight while still being played
- Course search could delete another player's scoreless round
- Scorecard corrections silently reverted instead of saving
- Cold-launching the app showed "No active matches" to a player mid-round
- Tapping a Junk counter then entering a score erased the Junk increment
- Plus many smaller fixes to search, history, and course data validation
2.3.10 Jul 30
- Fixed rare cases where a round could start without a course/tee fully selected — now blocked with a clear message
- Fixed mixed-tees rounds showing incorrect stroke allocation on the web dashboard
- Fixed the dashboard's "Who Pays Who" payment breakdown to match the app exactly
- Fixed the live spectator view getting stuck on "scores coming soon" when only one player had scores entered
- Fixed a multi-nine course picker edge case that could record the wrong tee
- Fixed decimal stakes ($2.50) getting rounded down when added mid-round for Valley bets
- Fixed scorecard stroke dots to correctly follow the match in view for 3 and 4-player rounds
- Assorted stake/setup validation hardening to prevent silent $0 or scratch-handicap settlement
2.3.9 Jul 29
- Fixed a bug where individual per-player stakes weren't being saved correctly on 4, 5, and 6-player rounds — bets now settle for the amount you actually set
- Fixed Front/Back "carry" and auto-press settings incorrectly affecting both Team and Indy matches when only one was set up as a Closeout — Team and Indy now have fully independent settings
- Closeout matches now display like Valley bets (up/down + total stakes, no confusing $0 lines)
- Fixed scorecard dots showing the wrong stroke count for players in multiple simultaneous matches on 5/6-player rounds
- Scorekeepers can now edit a completed round's setup (stakes, ways, players, teams) — not just scores
- Valley bets can now use any player pairing, independent of the main round's matchups
- Added The K Club (Ireland) and Sleepy Hollow Country Club (Upper) to the course database
2.3.6 Jul 28
- Fixed a bug where Closeout matches showed confusing "$0" front/back lines — now shows just the overall stakes and who's up/down
- Closeout now correctly disables "Halved Front Carries to Back" (front/back don't apply to a Closeout)
- Removed the doubling banner and made Turn Settings and Valley easier to find in Match Setup (gear icon) — no more scrolling needed
- Added Sleepy Hollow Country Club and Innis Arden Golf Club
- Backfilled missing course coordinates so nearby-course search works for more courses
2.3.5 Jul 22
- Profile setup got smarter: your course auto-populates based on your location, and your last-used tee & Ways settings can be remembered (toggle in Profile)
- Removed GHIN Number from Profile (not currently used)
- Redesigned the Course/Tee selection screen for clarity — see rating, slope, par, and yardage at a glance
- Fixed a keyboard bug covering course search results
- Fixed course-picker modal overlapping the status bar/Dynamic Island
- Added Innis Arden Golf Club and coordinates for several previously-uncoordinated courses (improves nearby-course search accuracy)
- Dashboard search overhaul: Live/Final/Code tabs with search by course or player
2.3.4 Jul 17
- Simplified course search: courses now show as a single result, with tee selection on the next screen
- Fixed keyboard covering course search results
- Added Olympic Hills Golf Club
- Removed a confusing/unused stat from the dashboard
2.3.3 Jul 15
New: Shotgun Start
Start your round on any hole. Pick Shotgun at setup, choose your starting hole, and the app handles everything — scoring, handicaps, presses, Valley, and settlement all work correctly no matter where you tee off.
Scorekeeper Fixes
Fixed a bug where the scorekeeper could get phantom-bumped from scoring. Team changes now fully transfer ownership including device ID, so Take Over Scoring always works. Signed-in players are never asked "Are you playing?" — the app knows.
Prompt Timing
The Valley prompt and doubling prompt now fire when you tap Next to leave the trigger hole, not while you're still entering a score. The end-round summary follows the same rule.
Junk Display
Junk now shows each game as its own result line — team total vs team total, and each indy pairing head to head. No more blended NET column.
Stake Validation
The "Empty Stakes" warning now only fires for stakes that are actually empty, correctly identifies which game has the blank stake, and works correctly in all player modes.
New Courses
Mizner Country Club and Arcola Country Club.
2.3.1 Jul 11
New: Shotgun Start
Start your round on any hole. Pick Shotgun at setup and choose your starting hole — scoring, handicaps, presses, and settlement all work exactly like a normal round. The nine containing your starting hole plays as the front, and your match picks up right where it left off when you loop back around. Doubling prompts, Kirby, and Valley all fire at the right moments no matter where you tee off.
Smarter Match Editing
Editing a round's setup mid-play no longer resets presses or doubling on matches that didn't change. If you do change teams, the app warns you before resetting only the affected matches — scores are always kept.
Setup Fixes
Valley no longer shows a team stake option in 2 and 3 player rounds. Fixed a false "Empty Stakes" warning in 3-player mode. The Turn Settings prompt now tells you where to find it later if you dismiss it.
Add Course Improvements
Scorecard photo extraction handles courses with many tee boxes. Clearer error messages when extraction fails. Missing rating or slope values are flagged for you to verify, and you can add a second photo to fill in anything the first one missed.
New Courses
Whistling Straits (Straits and Irish), Erin Hills, Blackwolf Run (River and Meadow Valleys), Cog Hill No. 4, The Bay Club, and Arcola Country Club.
2.3.0 Jul 8
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue where the scorekeeper would get unexpectedly bumped from scoring mid-round without anyone requesting a takeover. The app now correctly recognizes the scorekeeper across all device and authentication states.
Dashboard (thetodd.golf)
Cleaned up the TV display — removed the unused Match view, moved the AI commentary to a dedicated bar so it no longer overlaps the course filter, and made course pills scrollable. The date filter now shows rounds for the exact day selected. The Live and Final filters work correctly.
Junk game stakes are now included in the full settlement and Who Pays Who — previously Junk was tracked separately and never folded into the payouts.
Fixed an edge case where a fractional 5-3-1 stake could cause the entire Who Pays Who section to disappear.
2.2.9 Jun 19
Notifications
Push notifications now route directly to the round when tapped. Motivational messages are personalized — winning side gets an encouraging message, losing side gets a rallying message.
Watch Screen
Players in the round are no longer prompted to confirm they are playing. The app recognizes you automatically.
Valley
Added a Cannibals stake section — set separate stakes for same-team matchups (A vs B, C vs D) independent from cross-team indys. Each matchup can have a custom stake or use a shared rate.
Junk
Junk standings now appear on the Live tab during the round. Settlement shows team totals clearly so you can see who won before the individual breakdown.
2.2.7 Jun 10
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue where completed rounds could display all matches at $0 with no ways won after using the Turn Settings doubling options. Settlement now shows correct results for all matches.
Rounds that finish with all 18 holes scored are now automatically committed even if the scorekeeper closes the app before tapping Complete. A server-side timer handles this as a reliable fallback.
2.2.5 Jun 5
Junk Game — Redesigned
Setup now follows the same pattern as Valley and Special Matches — team and indy modes are independent toggles. Added a How to Play guide explaining birdies, sandies, greenies, and other common junk plays. The score tab counter is now a clean horizontal pill with a trash icon.
Back 9 Start — Fixed
Rounds starting on hole 10 now correctly treat holes 10-18 as the front and holes 1-9 as the back. Press timing, Kirby detection, motivational triggers, and settlement all follow play order rather than course geography.
Doubling Options — Fixed
Reopening Turn Settings mid-round now shows your previously saved doubling selections instead of resetting everything to 1x. Access it anytime from the gear icon after hole 9.
Round Auto-Complete — More Reliable
Added a server-side safety net that automatically finalizes any fully-scored round left open for 30 minutes. Rounds no longer get stranded if the scorekeeper closes the app before tapping Complete.
Bug Fixes
Home screen no longer shows ghost player slots on active round cards
Stats Win % is now based on team match results only
2.2.4 May 31
New: Junk Game
Add a Junk side game to any round — team or individual. Players accumulate pieces of junk throughout the round and the side with the most at the end wins. Toggle it on in setup, track it hole-by-hole on the score tab, and see full settlement in the Settle tab.
Smarter Round Completion
Rounds now auto-complete when all 18 holes are scored. Finish hole 18 and tap Next, switch tabs, or just walk away — the app handles the rest. A 30-minute idle timer catches any round left open after play ends.
Notifications Fixed
Push notifications now reliably reach all players in a round. Motivational messages and Kirby alerts fire correctly for rounds with presses. Round-finished notifications go out when the round completes.
Stats Cleanup
Win % is now calculated from team match results only — a cleaner, more meaningful number. The confusing Overall W-L-H row has been removed.
2.2.3 May 27
- New Settlement screen — player-centric breakdown showing each player's net total with drill-down by match, scorecard, and side game details
- Fixed score updates disappearing for watchers during live rounds
- Signed-in users no longer prompted "Are you playing?" when watching a match they're not in
- Valley bet prompt now stays dismissed if declined — no more repeated popups
