I rarely write app reviews, but I’ve really enjoyed NEXO and have played over 200 cases. I’m a fourth-year medical student in the U.S., and I’ve found the diagnostic format and ICD-10 system genuinely fun and useful for practicing clinical reasoning. I especially enjoy trying to make the diagnosis with as little information as possible.My biggest limitation right now is the amount of content available at the different subscription levels. I would subscribe to Pro in a heartbeat if it gave access to a larger library of practice cases. During my trial, I completed the 30 additional cases in about two days, so a monthly limit doesn’t provide much value for someone who wants to use NEXO regularly for practice. More access to previous cases, or a larger/unlimited practice library, would make a subscription much more appealing to me.I’d also love an option to hide the early ICD range on paid plans. Having the ICD range immediately available narrowed my differential enough that cases became noticeably easier. For advanced learners, an optional “Expert Mode” where the ICD range is hidden or only revealed when requested would be fantastic.I also think the leaderboard could eventually benefit from separating competitive ranking from subscription XP multipliers. A score based on accuracy, case difficulty, and number of clues used would make ranking feel more representative of diagnostic performance while still allowing subscribers to receive XP bonuses for progression.Finally, some of the social features still seem to be developing. I received a challenge from another player, but tapping the notification didn’t take me anywhere, and I couldn’t find a way to access it afterward.Overall, I really like what the developers are building. The core diagnostic game is excellent, and I’m leaving this feedback because I’d genuinely like to subscribe and continue using NEXO long-term as the case library and features grow.
