The expiry date updates instantly to reflect the freeze window, and a warning notification fires 7 days before the limit so nothing gets forgotten at the back of the freezer. A reminder notification fires 6 hours before the safe window closes. No more guessing whether something is still safe to eat after defrosting. Swipe Gesture — Fixed and Polished The swipe-to-action gesture has been completely rebuilt. Previous versions had a conflict between the swipe handler and the list scroll that caused rows to snap back before you could tap the buttons. This is now fully fixed. Swipe left — the row stays open. Tap Freeze (blue) or Delete (red) at your own pace. Buttons clip cleanly to the card's rounded corners and slide in smoothly as you swipe. Cleaner Categories Cupboard and Fruit Bowl have been removed. The app now uses Fridge and Freezer only — simpler, faster, and how most households actually think about their food. You can now freeze food directly from the app. Swipe left on any item and tap Freeze — FreshDate automatically calculates how long it will last in the freezer based on the food type. Frozen items show a snowflake badge with their new use-by date and appear on the correct date in your calendar. The app knows what can't be frozen (eggs, cream, yoghurt, lettuce) so you'll never get a silly suggestion. Expiry notifications now include a freeze reminder when food is running out of time.
