I downloaded YardMate because I keep seeing the plants around my neighborhood that I couldn’t name. Now I find myself stopping to scan flower, tree, and even random weeds whenever I’m out for a walk. What I like most is that it doesn’t just tell you the name and stop there. The short story and background about each plants make learning much more personal. I’v start to noticing plants I use to walk right past, every walk feels like I am discovering something new. It’s become one of this app I open because I am curious , not because I have to
Developer Response
Thank you, this is exactly what we hoped the stories would do. A name on its ownis easy to forget, but the fact that a plant was carried across an ocean, or usedas medicine 500 years ago, tends to stay with you. That is why we write them. One thing you may not have noticed: every scan is saved in your history, so a fewmonths of walks quietly turns into a record of your own neighbourhood. Enjoy thenext one.
Actually useful for a beginner

I bought a few plants after moving into a new apartment and quickly realized I had no idea what I was doing. I mainly downloaded this to identify them, but I’ve ended up using the care reminders more than anything else. The advice is straightforward and usually answers exactly what I’m wondering, like whether a yellow leaf means too much water or not enough. I still forget to check the app sometimes, but my plants definitely look better than they did before.
Developer Response
Congratulations on the new place, and thank you for writing this. Coming foridentification and staying for the care side is exactly the path we designed for.On forgetting to check in: you should not have to. If reminders are not on yet, turn them on, and put the widget on your home screen, it shows what needs watertoday, so the app comes to you instead of the other way round. Your plants soundlike they are in good hands.
Expected a scam, got the real thing
Collette Battle
Downloaded this fully expecting another scammy plant app. Identified 14 plants on my street walk, got every one right including a weird cultivar my neighbor confirmed. The care schedule adjusts by season too, which I did not expect.
Developer Response
Thank you, Collette! As the person building YardMate, this was incredibly nice to read. I’m especially glad it held up across 14 plants, including the weird cultivar. Thanks for giving it a chance when you were skeptical 💚
Actual advice instead of panic
DelphiaRoxiez
My monstera had weird brown spots and google was useless (apparently everything means overwatering AND underwatering at the same time). Took a photo, app said fungal leaf spot, cut affected leaves, ease up on misting. Spots stopped spreading. Actual advice instead of panic.
Developer Response
Thank you so much for sharing this. I’m really glad YardMate helped you figure out what was actually going on with your monstera, and even happier to hear the spots stopped spreading. This is exactly what I hoped YardMate could do: turn plant panic into a clear next step.
A daylily opens for one day. It unfolds at dawn and is spent by nightfall, while the next bud on the same stem is already set for morning. Each stem carries a string of buds, so a clump stays in bloom for weeks and never shows the same flower twice. Come back tomorrow and there is a new one.
