Grump is a vocabulary app built around a simple idea: a word on its own is almost useless. What you really need to know is the company a word keeps - the phrases it lives in, the verbs it pairs with, the sentences where it feels at home.
That's how vocabulary turns into fluency.
Collocations: the words that come with the word
Every term in Grump can carry its most natural collocates - the partners it's almost always used with. Instead of memorizing "decision" in isolation, you learn "make a decision," "reach a decision," "tough decision." This is the difference between understanding a word and actually using one.
Examples that show the word in action
Each term holds a list of example sentences so you can see how it lives in real context. Browse them, edit them, add your own. When you come back to a word a week later, the examples are what bring it back instantly.
Everything a word needs, in one card
A term in Grump is more than a translation. It holds the word itself, its translation, a clear definition, its collocates, and as many example sentences as you want. Open a card and the whole picture is right there - no jumping between dictionary, translator, and notes.
Practice with focused flashcards
Flip through your sets in a clean, distraction-free flashcard mode. Review a few words on the bus, work through a whole set in the evening - whatever fits. The flashcards are built to keep you moving.
Organize your vocabulary your way
Group words into as many sets as you like - by topic, by book, by trip, by chapter. Rename and edit anytime. Your vocabulary lives where it makes sense to you.
Start with one word. Add the phrases it lives in. Add the sentences that bring it to life. That's how vocabulary actually sticks.

The subscription will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the billing period.
