NewsWave is a news app for expats and global readers — wherever you live, in whatever language you read. If you've moved to a new country and don't yet read the local language fluently, you know the problem: emergency alerts arrive in a language you can't parse, breaking news scrolls past in feeds you can't follow, and important policy stories sit buried in newspapers you don't yet read. NewsWave fixes that by aggregating news from trusted publishers in your country and translating AI-generated summaries into your language — so you can read at a glance, in your own language, and only open the full article when you need to. WHAT YOU GET — A unified feed of news from your current country and your home country. Tap the country pill to switch lenses. — AI-generated summaries and bullet points for every article, so you can scan a story in seconds before deciding whether to read in full on the publisher's site. — Topic follows. Pick the topics that matter to you (housing, residence permits, transport, public health, finance, technology, climate) and your feed reorders accordingly. — Government emergency alerts from official national sources, surfaced in your language. Tier-1 critical alerts trigger a push notification within seconds; lower-tier advisories surface in the alert digest at the top of your feed. (Today: Krisinformation.se, SMHI weather warnings, Sveriges Radio VMA broadcasts, and Polisen incident reports for users in Sweden — additional countries rolling out.) — 21 languages. Article summaries are pre-translated into Swedish, Spanish, German, Polish, Hindi, Arabic, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Romanian, Greek, Czech, Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and English. Pick your primary language in onboarding; switch any time from Profile. — Save articles, share to friends, and read full stories in the in-app browser without leaving the app. PRIVACY NewsWave is built in Sweden under EU GDPR rules. — No advertising SDKs. No third-party trackers. No cross-app identifiers. — Email and country are the only personal data we collect; both are needed to sign you in and surface relevant local news. — Analytics and personalization are consent-gated and revocable at any time from Profile, Privacy and legal, Manage My Data. — You can export or permanently delete your account and all associated data from inside the app at any time. — Lead supervisory authority: Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY) in Sweden.
