Fixes accounts set to pounds, euros or yen showing dollar amounts throughout the app. Balances, the register, reports and amount entry now use the account's own currency. The amounts themselves are unchanged. New accounts now start in the currency of your device's region rather than US dollars, and Japanese yen is shown and entered in whole yen. Fixes a recurring entry needing the app restarted before it appeared in the account. Entries set to post automatically now post when you return to the app and after each sync, rather than only when the app is started fresh.

Fixes categories that could go missing after you created an account or joined a multi-user plan, along with saved entries that stopped showing the category you filed them under. The first sync after updating puts them back, with nothing for you to do. Your entries themselves were never changed. Only the category shown against them went missing. Sharing an account no longer removes a category of your own because the person you share with has one by the same name. Both are kept.

Fixes the running balance in the register, which could stop adding up in 1.1.7. Nothing in your accounts needs correcting. When newest entries show first, a day's latest entry is now at the top of that day.

Payments to a credit card or loan could move the balance the wrong way. Starting Balance now asks for the amount you owe, so payments lower it. If an account was set up the wrong way, opening it offers to fix it. Deleting an account works properly now, and it stays deleted on your other devices too. You can set an account's starting balance, and the date it applies from, any time after you create it, so you can reconcile. Transfer is now an option next to Payment and Deposit, with a list of your accounts. Both sides are named after the other account, and the memo appears on both. Loans have their own account type, showing the amount you owe rather than a negative number. The overdrawn row shading added in 1.1.6 can be turned off in Settings. App Lock now turns on, and unlocks with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. It was failing on iPhones with Face ID. Transactions entered on the same day stay in the order you entered them. You can now choose which balance your accounts show. Pick the current balance, the cleared balance, or the balance as of today, which leaves out anything dated later such as scheduled bills. The total at the top names whichever one you picked, so you always know what you are looking at. The choice is in Settings. When a transaction takes your running balance below zero, the whole row is now shaded and the balance turns red, so an overdrawn day is hard to scroll past without noticing. Credit card accounts are left alone, where a balance owed is the normal state. Thanks to Vickie and everyone who sent along the feedback behind this update.

Filters are now persistent. Set an account's register to show uncleared transactions only and it stays that way when you leave and come back, and after you reopen the app. Each account keeps its own filters. Duplicating a transaction now opens a copy in the editor without saving it first. Nothing is added to your register until you tap Save, and the copy keeps the original's split lines and transfer details. The transaction menu no longer runs off the bottom of the screen on shorter displays, and pressing and holding a transaction on iPad opens the menu next to the one you picked.

This update makes recurring transactions more flexible: repeat every few weeks or months, or twice a month on the two days you choose, which is handy for paychecks. You can also pick your own accent color, hide the running balance for a cleaner register, turn on auto-decimal entry so typing 1234 becomes 12.34, and clear a transaction with a single, easier tap. This update focuses on reliability: • More reliable sync. Fixed an issue where restoring a backup could make your transactions disappear after syncing. Your restored data now stays put and syncs across your devices. • Category names now show correctly, instead of occasionally appearing as a code. • Fixed a crash that could happen when exporting or sharing. Brought back the sync status and controls that went missing after the recent iOS updates, located in the More tab.

Enter recurring transactions ahead of time, so your register reflects the week or month you have coming, or set bills and paychecks to post automatically a few days early with "Days in advance". Sort your recurring list by next due date, payee, amount, and more. Splitting a transaction across categories is now a quick long-press away: long-press an entry and tap "Split". And on tablets, the app makes better use of the larger screen with side-by-side views and side navigation.

Better sync. Sharing an account or setting up a new device now downloads all its existing transactions, not an empty account, and large registers sync completely. Split transactions sync everywhere too, so a split's category breakdown shows up on all your devices. The first sync after this update may take a little longer while your devices catch up.

Fixed a problem with subscriptions after trial period ends.

The Font size control in Settings is now a slider with small and large "A" anchors at the ends, instead of five cramped buttons whose labels were wrapping mid-word on most phones. Same options, same behavior, just legible.

Caffeinated Checkbook now follows your system font size by default, and Settings adds a Font size option (Small, Default, Medium, Large, Extra Large) for adjusting it inside the app without changing anything system-wide.

Signing in on a new device now picks up your subscription right away, shared registers appear after the first sync. The dashboard menu adds Hide Recent Transactions, and Settings adds Show Newest Transactions First for flipping the register's sort order. Manage Sharing no longer hits a session-expired wall when signed out. The first-run welcome screen has clearer guidance, and German, Spanish, French, and Japanese translations are more complete.

You can now mark a transaction as cleared without going through reconciliation. Tap the small circle on a register row, use the long-press menu on a transaction, or toggle the status from the transaction details screen

Reports now split Cash Flow (Inflows and Outflows) from Income vs Expenses, so you can see the full movement of money in and out of an account separately from what you actually earned and spent. A new Transactions tab lists individual rows for quick audits and filtered CSV export. Open reports refresh automatically after edits or syncs. Moving from Quicken? The desktop version at caffeinatedcheckbook.com now has a much-improved QIF import with automatic transfer linking and investment account support.

Sync across your devices and sharing on multi-user plans are now free for 14 days, no payment details required. Subscription changes also apply in the app immediately instead of waiting for the next launch. Fixed a duplicate-transaction issue with auto-posting recurring transactions. One that was due on more than one device used to create a copy on each one. It now posts once and syncs to the rest.

Caffeinated Checkbook is now available for Windows and Linux computers. Like the mobile app, the desktop apps are free to download and use, and your data stays on your device. If you have a Caffeinated subscription, your register, categories, recurring transactions, and reconciliation history stay in sync between your phone, tablet, and computer. Multi-user plans also let you share accounts with others in your household. Syncing is also faster in this update. A bug that occasionally caused the app to re-download your full history is fixed.
