What's New in 3.14.0
A new Focus Reflection insight and more Focus/Screen Time reliability fixes.
- Added a distraction heatmap to Focus Reflection: see when distractions happen across the day, attributed to the practice that was active, with one gentle insight sentence summarizing the pattern.
- Fixed orphaned session data being silently disconnected from its day due to a rare cross-process timing issue — it's now automatically reattached.
- Fixed a race in accepting a mentor's CloudKit share.
- Fixed a race in Live Activity session commands (next round/pause/end) so rapid taps can't produce lost or duplicated effects.
- Fixed Focus coordination using the wrong storage path in some cases.
- Fixed Focus app and web-domain policies being applied dependently instead of independently — enabling/disabling one could unintentionally affect the other.
- Focus Screen Time selections now correctly handle apps marked "Always Allowed" in Screen Time.
- Diagnosed and hardened against a class of Focus-extension storage failures.

What's New in 3.13.0
A round of Focus and Screen Time reliability fixes.
- Ending a Focus session now correctly attributes to the source that actually ended it.
- Focus motivational quotes no longer bind to a stale manual-session generation.
- Focus sources reconcile correctly after schedule/manual transitions and clock changes (e.g. daylight saving).
- If the Focus data store is temporarily unavailable, Focus now fails closed instead of proceeding with stale state.
- Stale scheduled-Focus callbacks are rejected instead of acting on superseded schedules.
- Scheduled Focus registration recovers automatically instead of getting stuck if interrupted.
- Overlapping scheduled Focus windows are preserved instead of one clobbering another.
- Focus leases renew correctly when driven from Live Activity controls.
- Focus shield ownership (manual vs. scheduled vs. Live-Activity-driven) is now tracked explicitly, closing several races between them.
- Returning to the app from the Focus shield is now handled reliably even under rapid taps.
- Focus Filter state transitions and teardown are now versioned so a stale transition can't clobber a newer one.
- Dashboard widget data from concurrent processes no longer overwrites itself.
- Watch session-start and Shortcuts/Siri-driven actions are now queued reliably instead of racing.
- Diagnostic logs from overlapping extension activity are now all preserved instead of some being dropped.
- Screen Time authorization checks and expired selection tokens now refresh and recover automatically.
- Imported Focus quote text is now protected from being overwritten during a backup/sync import.

What's New in 3.12.0
A batch of data-safety and display fixes.
- Fixed the contemplation timer readout freezing while typing in the Sravana reflection editor, along with the associated CPU/battery drain.
- Fixed a stale round-reminder cleanup that could silently fail to remove reminders it had just logged as removed, leaving phantom round reminders behind.
- Seva, Sravana, and Study detail screens now save your details when you dismiss the screen, instead of only on normal navigation.
- Restoring from a Zip backup now shows a "Reading backup…" preview before restoring; merging a backup's files now asks for confirmation first.
- Day timelines (Chronicle and related views) now align to actual wall-clock minutes instead of a fixed offset, fixing drift around daylight saving transitions.
- Fixed timed meal entries routing to the wrong Health section, and fixed a second case where custom meal entries (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Brunch, Snack, and their Spanish/French/Hindi equivalents) could still reroute to Exercise.
- Fixed HealthKit rest-day ownership so synced rest entries attribute to the correct day, and made reconciling an imported HealthKit rest session with an existing one safer against data loss.
- Fixed merging free-text notes from two devices so overlapping edits converge correctly instead of one side's text getting dropped.
- Added mentor dashboard share management on Mac: see who has access to a shared dashboard, their role and permission level, and invite status, and manage or stop sharing.
- Smoothed several animations: the ember-mode ring and timer now grow into the freed space with an animated entrance, the player pill's presence transitions are more consistent, and the Watch's practice-progress arc glides instead of snapping on rapid taps.
3.12.0 Jul 20
What's New in 3.10.0
A new Ember dim mode, a new Focus Reflection weekly report, a large batch of Live Activity reliability fixes, and background sync fixes.
- Added Ember mode: a dim, low-light display for Now Practicing, with an on/off switch and a configurable delay in Settings. Your activity heading, quote, and quick controls all stay available in the dimmed surface, and the auto-dim countdown now respects VoiceOver and backs off if you've opted out.
- Added a weekly Focus Reflection report showing your practice time, rendered directly in the Screen Time Focus Reflection screen.
- Fixed Study and Sravana sessions dropping their recording on stop, including when the session context was momentarily missing, and fixed stop-command centers double-committing.
- Fixed japa-named custom activities not routing correctly through the widget Stop button.
- Live Activities now re-register correctly when a session starts, end properly when requested, and no longer leave a stale one behind from a cancelled restore.
- Chanting Live Activity restores are now atomic and can no longer be clobbered by a race.
- Fixed a past-day chanting screen tearing down your currently-running Live Activity.
- Freshly-started Live Activities are now shielded from being killed by the launch cleanup sweep.
- Duplicate "Next Round" taps are now ignored instead of double-counting.
- Fixed chanting's elapsed time double-counting after a resume from pause.
- Dynamic Island timers now correctly freeze once an activity goes stale.
- Closed a race between background app-refresh and exit-time flush; background sync now runs reliably on scene-less launches, where it previously could silently not fire.
- Fixed extreme/invalid duration values being able to show garbage or crash instead of a clamped value.
3.10.0 Jul 19
What's New in 3.9.0
A broad hardening pass: your typed reflections and notes are now protected from being lost, and several screens that could freeze under a large history no longer do.
- Sravana reflections and Study writeups are now saved atomically and retained until the save is confirmed durable, instead of being cleared before the write finishes — protects your typed content from being lost if a save fails or the app is interrupted. The same protection was added for Markdown notes.
- Restored legacy Gratitude drafts that could land on an empty day instead of showing up where you wrote them.
- Fixed the Trends screen, the People tab, and automatic backups being able to freeze the app on a large history; app launch/recovery no longer runs its scan on the main thread either.
- Apple Watch: catch-up syncing after a backlog, and the chanting sessions list with many entries, are both noticeably faster.
3.9.0 Jul 17
What's New in 3.5.0
An Apple Watch sync/reliability overhaul, a Spotlight/Siri privacy fix, and correctness fixes across Siri Shortcuts, Live Activities, and mentor sharing.
- Apple Watch: the watch's total now correctly drops when you edit or delete a chanting log on the phone, instead of only ever climbing until midnight. A killed watch app mid-session no longer loses your live count. Starting via Siri right after a cold launch, or while the watch app was already open, now works immediately. Heavy offline backlogs send in batches instead of getting stuck retrying one oversized payload. Fixed the complication showing an empty gauge, the "keep app open" warning disappearing the instant you tapped End, text clipping at large Watch text sizes, and "1 rounds" grammar. Removed a sub-minute timer view that was quietly draining battery.
- Fixed Spotlight search and Siri suggestions surfacing today's chanting/sravana/study text even while Screen Time widget redaction was on — a real bypass of that privacy setting, now closed.
- Fixed mentors seeing subtly wrong or fabricated data: a mood chart could show a fabricated entry for days with no logged data, wake/sleep tiles could show a placeholder dash as a real value, and a seva bucket that included "maya seva" minutes was mislabeled "Guru Seva."
- Fixed Shortcuts like "Start Chanting" reporting success to Siri even when the underlying write had actually failed, "Open weekly application" always routing to Sravana instead of wherever you'd actually written it, and a duplicate "Start Meal" request silently overwriting your real start/end time.
- Fixed undoing a completed custom activity resuming the in-app timer without bringing back its Lock Screen/Dynamic Island Live Activity, a launch-time race that could revive a Live Activity for an already-ended session, and the Screen Time Focus shield clearing even when stopping a session had actually failed.
- Fixed overnight sleep landing up to an hour off (or vanishing) on Daylight Saving transition days across the Dashboard, Trends, and mentor views, and a backfilled custom activity with only a duration being silently omitted from its own day's timeline.
3.5.0 Jul 14
What's New in 3.4.0
A crash fix, several editor and sync data-safety fixes, and smoother dashboard/Trends performance.
- Fixed a crash when pressing Return at the end of an emptied list item in the markdown editor, plus a case where Return with text selected on a bare bullet incorrectly kept the list going.
- Fixed italic text inside a bulleted note sometimes rendering as plain text.
- Fixed a note's auto-linkified URL occasionally displaying corrupted link text when the detected label contained characters like `*` or a backtick.
- Fixed the stacked time bar on Today/Trends visually overflowing its container on a day with many small activity entries.
- Fixed several data-safety edge cases: a crash-recovered draft could be deleted before you were offered the chance to restore it; toggling on Mentor role, or a save spanning two days at once, could leave an edit without the recency marker that protects it from being overwritten by sync; a HealthKit-deleted workout or manually-cleared sleep block could reappear on the next sync; and, on Mac Catalyst, a time field could be silently overwritten by a leftover edit just after it became read-only.
- Fixed four of eight metrics on the mentor-shared view showing in the wrong color, and mentor dashboards showing slightly different rounded values than your own Trends screen.
- Fixed the stopwatch display crashing on an unusual elapsed-time value instead of showing 0:00.
- Fixed a parsing edge case that could misidentify a valid CloudKit entitlement as missing, silently disabling sync.
- Fixed adding a timed activity within 30 minutes of midnight producing a broken default end time.
- Fixed Settings' diagnostic-log preview showing garbled characters for non-ASCII text.
- Dashboard, Chronicle, and Trends timeline bars no longer flicker/rebuild on every re-render; the Chronicle "now" marker no longer stalls; switching to Trends or changing its date range no longer freezes the UI while data loads.
3.4.0 Jul 12
What's New in 3.3.0
A new Schedule tab for planning your day, plus fixes for sync reliability, a rare crash, and Apple Watch chanting.
- Added a Schedule section: set windows for any of your five practices (Chanting, Sravana, Study, Seva, Gratitude Journal), and choose per-window whether it should apply the Screen Time Focus shield or just sit on your schedule as a reference for days that don't go to plan.
- Reminders can now tie directly to a scheduled window's start time, and daily reminders and the schedule share one "Add" sheet with the same quick-add suggestions.
- Reminder and schedule rows are now tappable anywhere to edit them, instead of needing a small pencil icon.
- The dashboard's next-action suggestion is now schedule-aware, and can show an upcoming scheduled time instead of just "not started yet."
- Fixed a rare crash from an arithmetic overflow, plus several smaller correctness fixes (selection math, minute rounding, and date-boundary handling around Daylight Saving changes).
- Fixed a case where quickly re-tapping a chanting round on Apple Watch could be miscounted; catch-up taps and resent rounds are now counted correctly.
- Fixed rare multi-device sync edge cases that could lose an edit during a race between two devices.
3.3.0 Jul 11
What's New in 3.2.0
A more compact dashboard, safer multi-device sync, and fixes for the Screen Time shield, long-session timers, and two rare crashes.
- Redesigned the dashboard: Live Now and today's timeline fold into one compact Chronicle card, with a suggested next action for the day.
- Multi-device sync is safer: fixed rare cases where an edit arriving from another device could overwrite fresh local changes, where cleared text could reappear after syncing, and where two devices' edits to the same note could lose one side — conflicting edits now merge, keeping both.
- Every editor now saves a crash-safe draft while you type, and changes that haven't been backed up yet are captured in an automatic backup when you leave the app.
- Fixed the Screen Time shield sometimes never applying when a Focus turned on (a stale permission read in the Focus filter).
- Fixed elapsed timers — Study, Sravana, the chanting Live Activity, and Apple Watch — showing raw minutes once a session passed an hour.
- Fixed a rare crash when leaving the app while it finished saving, and a hang at launch when the device's storage was completely full.
- Chanting rounds recovered after a crash now appear as soon as you open the app, without visiting the Chanting screen.
3.2.0 Jul 11
What's New in 3.1.1
A fix for the focus screen not opening automatically on iPad and Mac, a restored tab-bar hint, and smoother performance.
- Fixed the Now Practicing focus screen not opening automatically when you start a practice on iPad and Mac.
- Restored the "Tap to show tabs" hint (and its VoiceOver announcement) when the tab bar is collapsed.
- Smoother launches, backups, and Sync Diagnostics — several pieces of file work no longer run on the main thread.
- Added internal runtime health monitoring, so rare hangs or battery issues can be diagnosed from a support log you choose to share.
3.1.1 Jul 10
What's New in 3.1.0
Reliability fixes for mentor sharing, iCloud sync, and background refresh.
- Mentors with a longer shared history now see everything: dashboards and guidance lists were previously cut off silently after the first hundred or so items.
- When some shared items can't be loaded, mentor sharing now records exactly what failed in diagnostics instead of quietly showing less.
- Fixed a case where two devices syncing at the same moment could cause one of them to skip publishing its sync status until much later.
- Background refresh now wraps up promptly when iOS asks it to, avoiding rare background terminations that could reduce how often the app gets to refresh.
3.1.0 Jul 9
What's New in 3.0.9
A crash fix for data export, a fix for dead Share buttons in Data & Backup, and a sync diagnostics improvement.
- Fixed a crash that could happen while exporting all your data.
- Fixed the Share buttons in Data & Backup not doing anything when tapped.
- Sync Diagnostics now detects and reports a stalled iCloud import instead of it silently hanging with no visible signal.
3.0.9 Jul 8
What's New in 3.0.8
- Two-way mentor sharing — mentors can send guidance back, build shareable guidance presets, and ask reflection questions you answer inline (previously one-way, dashboard-only sharing).
- A run of serious multi-device iCloud sync bugs fixed — duplicate entries surviving merges, a deleted day resurrecting with stale data from an unsynced device, and a rare case where two devices cleaning up duplicates at the same time could erase a whole day's data on both.
- Adaptive iPad/Mac experience — sidebar navigation on wide screens, plus two full iPad dashboard redesigns (a night-sky "Constellation" layout and a "Rhythm" board layout).
"Now Practicing" focus view — a calm, full-screen view for whatever session you're in, auto-opening when you start chanting and matching the Screen Time shield's look.
- Full VoiceOver accessibility pass — Live Activities, Dynamic Island, charts, banners, and previously-unlabeled buttons all became properly labeled and announced, plus Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion, and contrast support.
- Background-save crash fix — a class of crashes where iOS terminated the app mid-save while backgrounding, causing sudden quits when switching apps.
- Chanting overrun reminders — a configurable nudge (escalating sound/vibration, snooze, jump-to-next-round) when a round runs longer than intended.
- Repeated Screen Time Focus/shield fixes — several distinct bugs where a scheduled Focus could get stuck blocking apps after it should've ended, or conversely look active while not actually blocking anything after a revoked permission.
- Battery and performance fixes — a main-thread CPU storm from a sub-minute UI refresh while idle, and layout thrashing in the mini player and chanting timer every half-second during a session.
- Backup/restore overhaul — atomic, crash-safe restore; previously-missing data (reminders, gratitude entries, edit timestamps) now included in export/restore; clearer recovery messaging when something goes wrong.
3.0.8 Jul 7
What's New in 2.9.1
This release makes the Sravana reflection editor much smarter about Markdown, routes Japa activities into real chanting sessions, and adds clearer recovery paths when a screen fails to load or iCloud sync falls behind.
- The Sravana reflection editor now sizes indentation from your chosen font, so lists and body text under headings align naturally in iA Writer Duo, Mono, and Quattro.
- Formatting edits in the reflection editor preserve undo history, scroll position, and keyboard state, and typing "## " styles the line as a heading as you type.
- Blockquotes now render in a secondary color with proper indentation, and **bold** and *italic* text renders with real bold and italic styling.
- The Bold and Italic buttons now remove the markers when the selected text is already formatted, instead of nesting more asterisks.
- List, heading, and quote toggles handle mixed selections cleanly, converting already-prefixed lines instead of stacking prefixes, and numbered lists renumber into a single sequence.
- Inserting a heading from the reflection menu now keeps your selected text as the section content instead of replacing it.
- Starting a Japa activity from Add Activity or App Shortcuts now starts or resumes a real chanting session and opens the chanting page, instead of running a generic timer.
- Logging a missed Japa activity records it as a completed chanting session, and the completion summary offers "Saved to Chanting" with an Open button.
- Screens that fail to load now explain what went wrong and offer a Retry button, instead of showing a spinner that never resolves.
- Sravana and Chanting stay usable when only their persistent notes fail to load; the notes problem is still reported.
- Sync diagnostics in Data & Backup can now recommend rebuilding this device's local sync cache when it falls well behind iCloud, saving a pre-rebuild backup and offering to merge it back once iCloud finishes reloading.
2.9.1 Jun 11
What's New in 2.7.2
This release improves iCloud continuity for daily notes and makes shared mentor dashboards refresh more reliably.
- Persistent Notes in Sravana and Chanting now sync between your iPhone and iPad through iCloud instead of staying local to one device.
- Existing local Persistent Notes migrate automatically into the synced note store, so your current Sravana and Chanting notes are preserved.
- Backup export and restore now use the synced Persistent Notes source, keeping YAML backups aligned with what sync carries across devices.
- Mentor-mode shared dashboards now refresh their CloudKit snapshots when the app returns to the foreground, so people you share with see fresher practice data.
- Shared Today dashboard breakdowns include richer category/activity detail, making mentor views easier to scan.
- iCloud sync diagnostics and launch checks have been tightened to better explain CloudKit availability, imported record counts, and recent sync state.
2.7.2 Jun 10
