Replay it anytime from How to Play - When you fall, your exorcist now collapses on screen, and a 10-second countdown shows how long you have to revive - A Treasure Chest on the Sortie screen now fills with koban over time - Achievements are grouped into Battle, Journey, Growth and Collect, with a compact layout you can take in at a glance - The daily stamp button on the home screen is now an easy-to-spot gift icon - The launch screen now fills the whole display - The home-screen app name is now "Yokai Night" so it no longer gets cut off

We reworked how the game plays based on your feedback, and redrew several weapons. - Rebalanced yokai in later stages. Enemy strength now climbs more gently from stage to stage, and the overly tough Kasha in Jigokudani is fixed - Fixed a bug where a yokai touching you from above would stick to you and keep dealing damage no matter how you moved - Level-up cards no longer get picked by accident: input is ignored for a moment after the cards appear - You can now tap upgrades, pause and revive buttons with another finger while your movement finger stays on the screen - New visuals for Thunder Beast, Cursed Flame, Foxfire and Prayer Beads - Enemy shots are now red and experience gems are smaller, so the screen is easier to read - The Ninja's ability is now [Unseen]: attack rises the longer you go without being hit

All-new music, and an eighth exorcist: the Ninja. - The soundtrack is now Japanese folk metal. Every stage has its own track, with dedicated music for the Night Parade and boss fights - Meet the Ninja, the eighth exorcist. Unlock with magatama and tear through hordes with the Fuma Shuriken, which flies out and comes back - Weapons now knock enemies back. Heavy ones like the Conch Horn and Onikirimaru shove the horde away - Reworked how yokai arrive late in a run: the horde keeps coming right to the end - Adjusted how often healing dango drop - Fixed upgrade descriptions showing twice in the encyclopedia

New art, and a better feel to every hit. - Redrew every exorcist, yokai and boss. Cleaner outlines, more detail in faces and outfits - Redrew the weapons, items, icons and the loading screen as well - Exorcists and yokai now walk - Damage now shows as numbers. Critical hits show in gold - Defeated yokai are knocked back and sent flying - Evolved weapons now look different in battle too - Your remaining HP now shows at your exorcist's feet, so you never have to look away from the fight - The camera sits a little further back, so the horde and the gaps in it are easier to read - Reworked the moment a treasure chest opens - The pause button is bigger and easier to reach - Added "Effects" to Settings: turn damage numbers and blood on or off

An eighth stage, and a mode with no clock. - Added a new stage, "Yokai Mansion": walls and corridors indoors, with nowhere wide to run - Added a new boss, Nurarihyon, who splits into doubles and swaps places with them - Added new enemies: the Akaname, quick through narrow halls, and the Nurikabe, who blocks the way - Added a new difficulty, "Night Parade". There is no time limit; it ends when you fall - Past ten minutes the enemies keep getting stronger every minute, and bosses arrive one after another - There is no reviving in the Night Parade. How long you lasted is the record, kept per stage - Clear a stage on Oni to open the Night Parade for that stage - Rebalanced enemies per stage. From the second stage on, yokai go down faster and hit less hard

A seventh stage, and a seventh exorcist. - Added a new stage, "Yomotsu Hirasaka", the slope between the living and the dead. The toughest enemies yet - Added a new terrain type, the mire. You can walk through it, but it slows you down. Cut across or go around - Added a new boss, Yomotsu Shikome, who drags anyone who flees back toward her - Added new enemies: the Wanderer and the Yomotsu Host - Added a seventh exorcist, the Puppeteer. Lighter hits, but longer reach and more of them - Added her signature weapon, the Curse Puppet. Puppets run at enemies on their own and burst on contact - Her ability, Scapegoat, negates one hit every 30 seconds. No luck involved

Daily prayers, and levels that never stop. - Added "Shrine Stamps", a daily login bonus. Open the home screen and a seal is pressed into your book, with koban to match - The reward grows with your streak, from 50 koban on day one to a magatama on the tenth day in a row - Added "Exorcist Level". Spend koban to raise it and permanently improve attack, health and movement speed - There is no level cap, but each level costs more koban than the last, and higher levels also ask for magatama - Treasure chests now grant a single upgrade, and elites appear less often. Builds no longer finish themselves in the first few minutes - Fixed the boss health bar sometimes staying on screen after the boss was defeated

Past Onigashima lies Jigokudani, where lava runs. Exorcists can now choose how they look. - Added a sixth stage, Jigokudani. The lava splitting the valley can be crossed, but it burns you the whole way over. Go around instead and whatever is chasing you closes the gap - Added a new boss, Otakemaru. He spills lava at your feet and takes away the ground you stand on, spilling it faster the harder you press him - Added two new yokai: the Kasha, which charges wrapped in flame, and the Gokusotsu, slow but hard to break - You can now choose the color of an exorcist's robes. Five colors open with koban, and each character keeps its own - The trail you leave behind now takes the color of the robes you wear - Robes are looks only. They change nothing about how you play - Your magatama count now sits beside your koban at the top of the home screen - Fixed the footer tabs becoming unreadable while pressed

Beyond the mountain trail lies Onigashima, where the oni king waits. - Added a fifth stage, Onigashima. A cramped rock isle ringed by open sea, with almost nowhere to run - Added a new boss, Shuten-doji. He calls his lesser oni down on you, and calls more of them the harder you press him - Added three new oni: the club-swinging Red Oni, the rock-throwing Blue Oni, and the fast, fragile Onibi. Red and Blue Oni also show up late on the Mountain Trail - Rebuilt the stage select screen. The stage you picked is detailed at the top and the full list sits below, including a dark frame for what is still to come - Removed the per-stage koban multiplier. Raise the difficulty when you want to earn more - Added a final tier to every charm, Ultimate. Eight magatama open the sixth step of a permanent upgrade - You can now buy koban and magatama in the shop. Magatama are still earned through achievements as before - The Grand Onmyoji's signature weapon is now Taiyi Divine Light. It fires a beam straight ahead, and once evolved it pierces everything in the cone

A girl who hunts oni joins as the fifth exorcist. - Added a new exorcist, the Oni Hunter. She lives on critical hits, and her Oni Cleaver ability lets her stand up to elites and bosses. She is fragile, so closing the distance takes nerve - Added her signature weapon, the Onikirimaru. It cuts a straight line through everything ahead — weak when you are surrounded, devastating when foes line up - Pair the Onikirimaru with Keen Edge and it evolves into Kikoku, which cuts down every enemy along the line - Crit chance was not shown anywhere, so we added it to Current Power on the pause screen and to the exorcist select screen. The Keen Edge passive is now visible too

The exorcist from the app icon arrives as a hidden character. - Added the hidden character Grand Onmyoji. His Curse Return sends the wounds he takes straight back at his attackers, and he comes with his own weapon, Twelve Generals, and its evolution - Added a new treasure: magatama. They come only from high-difficulty clears, the bestiary and achievements. Collect 30 to unlock him - The late game had gotten too easy, so we toned down how far the Demon-Breaker Arrow and Talisman Circle scale, and capped the damage from stacking circles. Early difficulty is unchanged - Narrowed the Magnet's pickup range and reduced the koban from runs with very high kill counts - Rebuilt the character select screen. Everyone fits on one screen and stats now show as bars — gold for strengths, red for weaknesses

Your progress no longer disappears. - Your save is now kept in iCloud. Change phones or reinstall the app, and your koban, charms, bestiary and achievements all come back. Nothing to set up - A loading screen now appears at startup, where the save is read - If the device and the cloud disagree, both are shown side by side so you can choose. Neither is overwritten silently - Koban and defeat counts are now stored correctly as whole numbers

An update that widens what you can do in a run. - Tidied up the pre-sortie screen. Pick a stage, tap Sortie, and a preparation dialog opens where you choose difficulty and a blessing - On level up you can now spend koban to reroll your options, or add one more card to choose from - You can now revive by spending koban. The price doubles each time you hang on - The health and experience bars now carry "HP" and "EXP" labels. Fixed the experience bar being hidden behind the home indicator - Reworked the look of the kusarigama, the hamaya arrow and the talisman circle - Added Spanish - Adjusted how fast you level up and how koban comes in. You reach the cap later, so choosing upgrades now spans the whole run - Fixed being unable to leave the level-up screen once every upgrade had been taken

A fix-up release for display issues. - Fixed the letterboxing on iPad — the game now fills the screen, and you can see more of the field - Fixed upgrade card text being cut off at the right edge outside Japanese (names and the "NEW!" tag) - Fixed descriptions breaking in the middle of a word - Fixed exorcist select cards overlapping their border and cutting off long descriptions. Cards now grow to fit the text - The app name on your home screen now follows your device language instead of always showing Japanese

A big update that lets you choose how you fight. - Five new weapons: Hamaya Arrow, Kusarigama, Rune Array, Cursed Flame and Thunder Beast — each attacks in its own way - Passive upgrades grew from 7 to 14, but you still have only 6 slots, so every pick is a choice - Yokai now move differently: some charge you, some keep their distance and shoot, some split when defeated - Elite yokai appear and drop treasure chests when defeated - Weapon evolutions and their requirements are now shown on the pause screen, and all four signature weapons can evolve - Each exorcist now has a unique ability - Feats added — your past progress counts, and completing them pays out koban - The shop is now laid out by category, and every list can be scrolled by dragging anywhere

The Home screen has been rebuilt. - Switch between Sortie, Heroes, Shop, and Bestiary any time from the tabs at the bottom - The Sortie tab shows your chosen hero and starting weapon before you head out - The pause screen now shows your current stats and equipped weapons and upgrades - Fixed a bug where the cooldown reduction upgrade had no effect - Refreshed the in-game font for much better readability - Fixed some yokai (Karakasa, Karasu-tengu, Yuki-onna, Gashadokuro) being invisible in battle - Fixed being able to stand in water and become untouchable; water areas are now a little smaller - The startup splash now shows the game's own artwork
