1.0.22 Jul 7
Performance and stability improvements
1.0.21 Jul 6
Stability improvements. This release fixes rare crashes that could happen when quickly navigating away from a screen while it was still loading — affecting My Palate, bottle detail, collection stats, and a few others.
What to Test: Open My Palate, bottle detail, and collection stats, and navigate around normally — confirm everything loads and nothing crashes.
1.0.20 Jul 4
Fixed bottle photo scanning — it had stopped recognizing bottles due to a retired AI model dependency, now restored, plus behind-the-scenes resilience so it can't silently break again. Added new bottles to the database (Green River Honey, Penelope Architects of Golf Holes 1–3, plus Knob Creek Blenders' 01, Kentucky Rambler, JD Single Barrel Rye, Penelope Riviera).
1.0.19 Jul 3
This build fixes a crash and improves adding bottles. Please focus testing on these two areas:
1. Adding a bottle that isn't in the database
Go to Add Bottle and search for a specific bottle that likely isn't in our database yet — a store pick, single barrel, or limited release (e.g. "Barrell Bourbon 10-Year Cask Strength 037").
You'll see some close matches, and now a "Don't see your exact bottle? Add it manually" option at the bottom of the results.
Tap it, fill in the bottle details, and confirm it saves to My Bar correctly.
Also try searching for something with no matches at all — the manual-add option should still appear.
2. Profile screen stability
Open the Profile tab right after launching the app, then quickly switch to another tab before it finishes loading. Do this a few times.
Confirm the app doesn't crash or freeze.
Open Profile normally and confirm your bottle count, spots logged, and subscription status all display correctly.
General
Confirm purchasing/subscribing still works and unlocks Pro.
Poke around My Bar, The Hunt, and My Palate to make sure nothing feels broken.
Report anything unexpected — thanks!

Here's your TestFlight tester note for 1.0.17 (67) — copy-paste ready:
Palate 1.0.17 (Build 67) — What's New & What to Test
The big fix: in-app purchases now work end-to-end. Previously, subscribing could charge you at Apple but never actually unlock Pro. That's fixed and verified.
What to test:
Subscribe to Pro (Monthly or Yearly)
The purchase should complete and Pro features unlock immediately — no "purchase not complete" error.
Sign out, sign back in → Pro should persist.
Force-quit and relaunch → still Pro.
Restore Purchases — if you've already subscribed, hit Restore and confirm Pro comes back.
AI recommendations / any Pro-gated features — confirm they're actually unlocked once subscribed (not still showing the paywall).
General regression sweep — My Bar, The Hunt, My Palate flows still work normally; nothing broke in the merge.
Known/expected:
Sandbox testers: use a clean sandbox Apple ID for the cleanest test.
If anything shows the paywall after a successful purchase, flag it immediately — that's the exact bug class we just closed.
1.0.17 Jun 14
Thanks to the early hunters who've been logging spots and sending feedback — this update is built almost entirely from what you told me.
Your profile now shows your real Spots Logged count and badge progress. Your own spotted bottles always appear on Bottles Near Me. Collection stats correctly handle multiples now. The Founding Hunter badge shows on your profile. And there's a new Send Feedback option that comes straight to me.
Keep the finds and the feedback coming.
1.0.16 Jun 9
Fixed store reliability scores, cleaner launch screen, smoother retailer dashboard, and assorted polish across the app.
1.0.15 Jun 3
First-run guide to help you get started, clearer empty screens, in-app help and a bourbon glossary, plus retailer tools and reliability fixes.
1.0.14 May 30
Build 60 — biggest update yet. Please hammer these:
- Retailer dashboard: log a bottle in stock, toggle "open for tasting,"
mark sold out. Earlier crash on bottle-select is fixed — confirm it
holds. New: tier badge shows on the bottle you pick before logging.
- Navigation: back buttons everywhere should work now (no black screens).
New X-button to close the spot-logging sheet.
- First-run intro carousel + in-app help (? icons on main screens) +
glossary under Settings. New users will see these — tell me if anything
reads wrong.
- Empty states: fresh account should see helpful prompts on My Bar,
Wishlist, Hunt, and Palate tabs instead of blank screens.
Try to break it. Anything weird, screenshot + tell me.
1.0.13 May 29
Reliability & polish update.
- AI features restored and faster
- Cross-device photo sync improvements
- Bar Scan handles large images more reliably
- Hunt spots can now be confirmed by other users
- Cleaner bottle data across the database
- Crash fixes and behind-the-scenes reliability improvements
Thanks for testing. Bug reports welcome via the in-app feedback option.
1.0.11 May 24
Smarter Bar Scan, fewer mistakes:
- When the AI is uncertain about a bottle, we'll tell you upfront — look for the "AI uncertain" tag on review tiles so you can double-check before adding
- Honest matching: if our AI can't confidently identify a bottle, we won't pretend to. Goes straight to review with the raw label info we read
- Refined AI instructions to reduce confident-but-wrong identifications
Bigger bottle database:
- 17 new bottles added including Booker's Phantom Pipes 2025-04, Boone County Amburana, Cream of Kentucky, Heaven's Door Revival, Jameson Black Barrel, New Riff 8 Year, Skrewball, Traveller, Whiskey War Barrel Proof, WhistlePig FarmStock and more
- Now tracking 7,159 bottles total
- Penelope Toast proof corrected to 100
Stability & polish:
- 23 new tests for scan accuracy
- Backend pipeline improvements
Thanks to Brock, Darin, Chris, and David for the feedback that drove this release.
1.0.10 May 11
Build 55 — PALATE 001-010
- PALATE Founder badge system — first 10 contributors get numbered founder badges
- Shows on Profile + share card
- Reserved numbers retire with the holder
1.0.9 May 5
Build 54 — better bottle management
- Quantity field — track multiples of the same bottle
- My Bar "Store Picks" filter chip
- Editable Store Pick + Open for Tasting toggles on existing bottles
- Fill-level slider now appears when adding an Open bottle (no more save-then-edit)
- Search bar "x" clear button now properly clears the typed text
1.0.8 May 2
What's new:
- Bar Scan: New "Best Guess" mode — when we can't identify the exact bottle, you'll see a clear yellow indicator and lower confidence instead of a misleadingly confident match.
- Bar Scan: Tap "Search manually" on any wrong match to find the right bottle. Every correction helps the matcher learn.
- Notes: Add free-text notes to any bottle in your bar — barrel numbers for store picks, where you found it, gift stories, whatever you want to remember.
- Database: 7,142 bottles now (+68), including Johnnie Walker, Glenmorangie, Talisker, Ballantine's, Aberlour, Glendronach, and other major missing brands.
- Database: Real proof values for 19 BTAC entries (George T. Stagg, William Larue Weller, Eagle Rare 17) replacing placeholders.
- Privacy + reliability: Stronger auth boundaries on submissions and corrections; Sim noise no longer pollutes crash analytics.
- Bug fixes: Soft-deleted Hunt spots no longer appear on discovery screens; map shows real spots instead of fallback seeds.
Thanks to our beta testers — especially the Pittsburgh / Western PA crew — for the feedback that shaped this release.
1.0.7 Apr 27

1.0.6 Apr 25
Build 50 — critical crash fix
Fixes a crash on app launch that was affecting users who opened Build 49. Store seeding logic was hitting a permission check and not recovering gracefully. Now properly gated and hardened.
Also hardens Remote Config initialization — the app now boots cleanly even if the Remote Config service is unreachable.
No new features in this build. Pure stability patch on top of 1.0.4.
