# What's New — v1.7.1 The watch detail page has been redesigned around a single, unified "What League members say" section. Vote reasons and community comments now appear together in one scrollable column rather than being split across two separate sections. A small "X For · Y Against" summary line above the list preserves the at-a-glance verdict. Vote-reason cards carry a thumbs-up or thumbs-down indicator so you always know whether a post is attached to a vote or is a freeform comment. A clapping-hands count in green and a raised-hand count in red appear under the author's name on any post that has reactions. A filter and sort bar sits above the list. Filter to see only "For" votes, "Against" votes, or standalone comments. Sort by Newest, Oldest, or Most Agreed — where Most Agreed ranks by net reaction score (claps minus boos), with recency as the tiebreaker. We're beavering away on The Watch League so you don't have to — and it will always be completely free for members. If you're enjoying it, a quick rating or review in the App Store takes thirty seconds and genuinely means the world to us.

The Social Update...updated. Following the introduction of the Discuss feed in our last version, we've made some improvements to protect you from trolls: Before you enter the League for the first time, you must read and agree to our community rules. The rules are clear: no objectionable content, no abusive behaviour, and an expectation that members report anything that breaks them. This is The Watch League, for Goodness' sake. Every post has a ··· button. Tap it to Report or Block — offending content disappears from your feed immediately. On your own posts the same button reveals a Delete option for when you've reconsidered. All reports are reviewed by the admin team within 24 hours.

This is the social update. The Watch League is no longer just a voting machine — it's a conversation. THE DISCUSS TAB The Connect tab is now Discuss: a scrollable social feed of watch opinions from every member of The League, all anchored to the watches you know and care about. Every card in the feed tells you exactly what someone thinks — and why. Vote-reason cards show a member's verdict on a specific model alongside their written take. Comment cards let members post thoughts directly. And editorial cards from The Prodigal Guide bring hand-picked watch writing into the feed automatically, no curation required. Agree or Disagree with any post by swiping right or left — a satisfying flash of green or red confirms your reaction. When you react, you can optionally leave a short note for the author. Pure social signal; reactions never affect a watch's score. Your Reactions tab is a personal inbox: see exactly who agreed or disagreed with your posts, which watch they were reacting to, and any note they left you. The Discuss tab icon shows an unread badge in real time. The Compose button (bottom right) lets you post a comment on any watch directly from the feed. It appears on the watch's model page too — same content, two surfaces. ALSO NEW Favourites tab on member profiles. See your hearted watches in one place, and browse any other member's favourites on their public profile. A Privacy toggle in Settings keeps your list private if you prefer. SPIT AND POLISH Changing your vote direction (upvote → downvote) now counts as a new vote in the Watch Nerds leaderboard. Re-downvoting a watch you've already downvoted now has a negative impact on its ranking, mirroring re-upvote behaviour. Members can no longer join without a @handle. The prompt now requires a handle to close, and the check fires immediately on sign-in — not just at launch. Downvoting a watch could incorrectly cause it to move up the rankings. Fixed. QR code on the Share Profile sheet was obscuring the title. Fixed; the app icon is correctly composited into the centre of the QR code.

We broke voting in the last update. Then we fixed it but broke the vote counts. Then we fixed that too. v1.5.7 is what 1.5.5 should have been — everything works, including vote counts updating correctly when you change your mind about a watch. Sorry for the turbulence.

This update fixes a critical issue introduced in 1.5.5 that prevented votes from being saved. Everything should work as expected now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The Weekly Dispatch has had a rethink. You'll now find out whether The League agreed with your votes or embarrassingly did not. Either way, you'll learn something about yourself. Changing your vote direction now counts as a new vote on the leaderboard. Some of you have been flip-flopping on watches for weeks. You know who you are, and now so does the app. Sharing your profile now generates a proper collage of your favourite watches as the link preview — rather than whatever chaotic single image was appearing before. Some members had been sneaking in without a @handle. That door is now firmly closed, bolted, and slightly judgemental about the whole situation.

Just a few little fixes The QR code on the Share Profile sheet was obscuring the title and the app icon wasn't composited correctly into the centre — both fixed. Tapping a watch on a member's profile page on thewatchleague.app now opens it directly in the app on iOS, rather than navigating to the website. Tapping a community comment on the Curate screen now dismisses it with a smoke animation (and triggers 1 second sooner — 3s idle, down from 4s). Profile field renamed from "One watch only" style to "One brand only" for consistency.

What's New — v1.5.3 New: Member profiles now include a Favourites tab alongside Voted and Nominated. You can see your own hearted watches on your profile, and browse any other member's favourites on their public profile page. New: Settings > Privacy has a new "Favourite watches" toggle. Turn it off to keep your favourites list private (on by default). Improved: Member profile pages on thewatchleague.app now show a swipeable Favourites carousel on the membership card, and the link preview image when sharing a profile is now a composited 1200×630 collage of that member's favourite watches with their profile photo centred — replacing the previous single-photo preview. Improved: Tapping a watch on a member's profile page on thewatchleague.app now opens it directly in the app on iOS, rather than navigating to the website. Fixed: Downvoting a watch could incorrectly cause it to move up the rankings. The tie-breaker between watches with equal scores now only considers the most recent upvote timestamp — a downvote no longer refreshes the ranking clock. Fixed: Members could join without a @handle. The handle prompt can no longer be dismissed or skipped — a unique @handle is now required before accessing the app. Improved: Re-downvoting a watch you've already downvoted now has a negative impact on its ranking (mirrors re-upvote behaviour). Votes feel more impactful. Improved: Profile fields renamed to "One brand only" with a matching prompt, consistent with "One watch only". Improved: Tapping a community comment on the Curate screen now dismisses it with a puff of smoke animation. The comment also appears sooner (3 seconds of idle time, down from 4). Fixed: QR code on the Share Profile sheet was obscuring the title. The sheet now opens fully and the app icon is correctly composited into the centre of the QR code.

Bug fixes: Fixed a ranking issue where downvoting a watch could cause it to rise in the standings. The tiebreaker between equal-scored watches now only counts the most recent upvote — a downvote no longer influences rank position. Fixed a signup gap where members could join without choosing a @handle. A unique handle is now required before accessing the app — the prompt can no longer be skipped.

A round of fixes and a few things worth shouting about. Share cards, upgraded. The image your share sheet produces now fits Instagram Posts perfectly. And if you've voted on a watch, your comment, name and vote are overlaid on the card automatically — ready to post straight to your feed. Votes now actually stick. A bug was causing votes to go missing for users who swipe quickly (like *really* quickly, like Marcus). If you've noticed your vote count looking lower than expected, or already-voted watches reappearing in the queue — this is the fix. Weekly Dispatch. A *new* Friday evening email featuring the week's top movers, your vote impact, and a few watches worth a second look. Opt in from Settings → Email. Because You Loved / You Might Have Missed. These sections on the Search tab were disappearing for active voters. Fixed — the discovery pool is now much deeper, so the more you vote, the better your recommendations get. And a few smaller things: Pull-to-refresh on Search and Nominate now actually refreshes Settings → Notifications no longer shows duplicate Email and Privacy sections Tapping Copy in the share sheet now copies the link, not the image

This update is a big one. Sharing, handles, discovery, and nominations — all overhauled. Sharing Share any watch from its detail page. We generate a branded card — photo, name, rank — with a link that opens directly in the app for existing members, or shows a rich web preview with an App Store prompt for anyone who hasn't joined yet. You can also share from the vote toast after upvoting, from the nomination confirmation screen, or after leaving a comment on a vote. Member Handles Members can now claim a unique @handle from Edit Profile. Handles are 3–20 characters with real-time availability checking. Your handle appears on your profile, public profiles, the Watch Nerds leaderboard, Following, Followers, and Find Members. New members choose a handle during sign-up. Existing members without one will see a prompt to claim theirs. Every handle gets a public profile page at thewatchleague.app/@yourhandle — shareable anywhere. Profile Sharing Once you have a handle, a share button appears in My Profile. Tap it to share your profile URL (thewatchleague.app/@yourhandle) via the standard share sheet — rich link previews work automatically in iMessage, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and Bluesky. Or show a full-screen QR code for sharing in person, saveable to your photo library. Discovery The Search tab now shows four sections before you start typing: New to the League, Rising This Week (most upvotes in the current weekly window, reset each Sunday), brand recommendations based on your vote history, and watches you might have missed. The Connect tab has a new Recently Joined carousel so you can find and follow new members. Nominations The Nominate tab has been rebuilt around search. Type a brand or model first to check whether it's already in The League before filling in the form. Recently added watches are shown on the tab. The form itself is streamlined — three required fields by default, with full specs available via "Add more detail". Type a reference number and brand, model, case material, dimensions, crystal, water resistance, and movement details fill in automatically. Pull-to-Refresh Swipe down to refresh on all data screens: Favourites, Profile, public profiles, Watch Nerds leaderboard, Followers, Following, Connect, and all Admin screens. Social Links Glass is now supported alongside Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, X, Bluesky, and LinkedIn. Add your Glass handle in Edit Profile.

Connect tab — Follow other members, discover the most active Watch Nerds, and find new people to follow, all from a dedicated tab in the main navigation. Clearer weekly notification — "Topping The Watch League this week" now shows the current top 3 watches, ranked. Tap it to go straight to the League list. 54 new watches — Watches & Wonders 2026 releases from Rolex, IWC, Tudor, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Panerai, and Jaeger-LeCoultre are now ready for your votes. Plus: tap a watch on the Curate card to open its detail page, fixed photo edge rendering, updated app icon because Quentin likes hands that point upwards not downwards!

More watch, less guesswork. Each voting card now shows case size and case material — because the right metal and the right millimetres matter. Thanks to Marcus for the feedback! Notifications fixed. We've ironed out the bugs. Your alerts should now arrive exactly when they should. Be sure to turn them on in Settings.
