The workflow update: build your list on the fly, keep your folders one click away, and a cleaner layout. ADD AND REMOVE ON THE FLY • New + and − buttons under your file list. Add more files or folders any time without starting over. • − only takes a row off the list. Your files are never touched. • The same file is never added twice, even when it sits inside a folder you already added. WATCHED FOLDERS • Save the folders you rename most, like a shared Movies or TV folder, in Settings → Watched Folders. • One click on the eye button loads them for the type you are renaming. • New only, on by default, skips files you already renamed and files that already have the right name. • A folder on a drive or NAS that isn't connected shows as unavailable instead of failing quietly. • You still preview and confirm every rename. EXPERIENCED LAYOUT • Turn it on in Settings → General → Layout. • Hides the guidance, tightens the spacing and moves Preview, Rename and Undo to a bar at the bottom, so more rows fit. A NEW SETTINGS • A sidebar instead of rows of tabs, and each page grouped into Naming templates and Data source. • Changes save automatically. No more Save button. FIXES • The Show Sidebar button no longer shows up blank. Control-Command-S shows and hides the sidebar. Thanks to the customer who mocked up these ideas.

Smarter music and game names, safer renames, and TMDb keys that just work. MUSIC • Version notes like (Remastered 2011), (Live) or (Extended Mix) move out of the song title and into the {remaster} token. Leave {remaster} out of your template and they come off. If two songs would then share a name, each keeps its note. • Numbered pieces like (Version 4) or (Part II) stay in the title. • Guest credits in square brackets, like [feat. La Bouche], are kept. • Tag review remembers your picks, so a song you already settled is not asked about again. You can change your picks at any time. • The tag review popup has a search box and a Waiting, Reviewed or All filter. • Optional tag repair now covers MP3 files, and runs even when no file needs a new name. Undo restores the original tags. SAFER RENAMES • A rename never replaces a file that is already there. It is skipped and reported instead. • A slash in a looked-up name, like a date, is swapped for a look-alike character so it can never split a filename. • Info banners that need nothing from you now close by themselves. GAMES • Years now come from the right system. An NES or Super Nintendo game no longer picks up the year of a computer game with the same name. • Switch and other newer consoles get the year the game came out on that console. • Multi-disc games marked [DVD1] or [CD2] keep their disc number, like "Halo 4 - Disc 1 (2012)". • No-Intro names like "Addams Family, The" are matched and come out as "The Addams Family (1991)", ready for Playnite and other launchers. • Subtitles in brackets stay in the name, like "Star Trek - Starfleet Academy (Starship Bridge Simulator)". • Games kept in their own folder inside a console folder are recognised. MOVIES AND TV • TMDb takes either key from your TMDb settings page, the short API Key or the long Read Access Token. • A looked-up episode title that belongs to a different episode is caught, and your file's own title is kept. A new look, and ready for iPhone Duo. NEW ICON • A brand new app icon, redesigned for Liquid Glass on iPhone, iPad and Mac. IPHONE DUO • Built for iPhone Duo. Closed, everything fits in one hand. Open, your files sit beside the results on the big screen. • The layout follows you as you open and close the phone. IPHONE AND IPAD • On short screens, like an iPhone turned sideways, the rename list always has room, and your results move to the top once a preview is ready. • The sidebar now follows Split View and window size changes on iPad. • The action menu stays on one line on narrow screens. The biggest accuracy update so far, tuned on tens of thousands of real files. SAFER NAMES • Lookups and tags can add to a name but no longer take anything away. Words, punctuation, years and bracket notes you already have stay put. • A rename that would only change capital letters is left alone in Music and Games. • A lookup can no longer swap an artist, song, movie or game for a different one with a similar name. TAGS • New review popup when the tags inside a file disagree with its filename. Keep the filename, use the tags, edit the name, or skip. Works for Movies, TV, Music and Audiobooks. • MKV tags are now read. • Tags inside video files fill in TV and movie names the filename cannot provide. • Optional tag repair for MP4 and M4V files, off by default. Undo restores the original tags. TV • Multi-episode files are named in the standard S03E01-E02 form. • The year on a show folder picks the right show when two share a name. • Folders mode renames show folders only and leaves everything inside alone. GAMES • Disc numbers and system files are kept. • Installed game folders are never opened up and renamed. • A clear message when a lookup provider turns down your key or its monthly limit is used up. AUDIOBOOKS • "Title - Author" names are flipped to "Author - Title" when the tags prove it. Co-authors and middle initials are kept. ALSO • A warning when the files look like a different media type than the one picked. • Long names wrap in the preview so the whole name can be edited. • Settings tabs wrap on a narrow window. • A clear message when a file is locked. • A naming guide link in Help. Movies: the {resolution} token now works. Add it to your movie template and each file gets 4K, 1080p, 720p and so on, read straight from the video itself (MKV included), even if the filename never said. TV: episode files that start with the code, like S01E01_Episode_Name, now get the show and year from their folder, even inside season folders. Generic mode: {year} now fills in from the filename. iPhone and iPad: the template token bar now only shows tokens that work for that media type. Small fixes to Settings help text.

Leave a rating without waiting to be asked. • Rate Media Renamer Pro is now in the Help menu on Mac, and at the top of the Help tab in Settings on iPhone, iPad and Mac. It opens the App Store review sheet directly. • The built-in rating prompt now treats a batch of three files as a real success instead of five, so short first sessions no longer get skipped. No ads, no telemetry, no subscription, and one purchase still covers all three platforms. Ratings are what help other people find this.

A bold new look. NEW DESIGN - A fresh, colorful design across the app, the welcome tour and Settings. - Pick what you're renaming from clear icon tiles. - A step tracker shows where you are: Select, Preview, Rename. - See an example of the result before you choose a single file. EASIER TO FIND - Replay the welcome tour any time from Settings. - Help and Replay Tour now sit at the top of Settings, so they never scroll out of sight. FIXED - The file list no longer suggests drag and drop on iPhone and iPad. It offers Choose a folder instead. - Example file names are no longer cut off on narrow screens.

Photo naming is faster and cleaner in this release. FASTER Cloud photo analysis is about five times faster. Batches now run several photos at a time and adapt to your provider's actual rate limit instead of waiting a fixed two seconds after every image. BETTER NAMES - Screenshots are now labelled as screenshots AND described, so you get "Screenshot Text Message Conversation" instead of just "Screenshot". - When a face is recognized, the name no longer repeats itself. You get "Carissa on Bed" rather than "Carissa Person on Bed". - Repeated and near-identical words are collapsed, so no more "Screenshot ... Screen Interface". - Names no longer end mid-phrase on a stray word. - Photo descriptions no longer guess at gender, age or relationships. FIXED - A photo with one face can no longer be tagged with two different names. - A rate limit from a cloud provider now retries the photo instead of silently skipping it. - Authentication failures now say what the provider actually reported, so a mistyped API key is obvious immediately.

Audiobooks are more reliable. • Better author and title matching from online metadata • Correct ordering for multi-part books and numbered sections • Improved handling of chapter and part names • Safer cover-art and companion-file handling • More accurate filename parsing and enrichment confidence checks

Subtitles follow your video. Switch on Carry subtitle files with renamed media in Settings under Exclusions. A renamed video now takes its matching subtitle files with it and keeps language and forced tags intact, so Plex and Jellyfin still pair them. Artwork and .nfo sidecars are left alone on purpose, because media centres look those up by exact name. Also in this version: a clearer prompt showing what to do next once you have added files, and the usual round of fixes and refinements.

Polish release. - Media Renamer Pro can now ask for a rating, but only after a batch that renamed cleanly and was not undone. It stays quiet otherwise. - Background image and face processing no longer routes through the main thread, so large photo batches feel smoother. - General stability and performance improvements.
