Clarity: Habit, Mood & Detox
Free Mood Journal · Habit Log
Only for iPhone
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
Forever free. Every feature unlocked. Six wellbeing dimensions plus your own custom categories. No paywall, no required ads, no data tracking. Optional support.
Clarity is the calm habit, mood, and detox journal — fully free. No paywalls. No ads unless you turn them on. No streaks to lose.
Built for people who quit other tracker apps because they felt like work, or like a sales funnel.
Habits, detoxes — across every part of life
Pick from six built-in wellbeing dimensions — Movement, Nutrition, Mind, Sleep, Focus, Connection — or create your own custom category with the name, emoji, and color you choose. Drink water under Nutrition. Quit late-night scrolling under Mind. Track a morning run under Movement. Or invent something we never thought of and put it in its own bucket. Habits to build, detoxes to break, routines to keep — all in the same place.
Daily check-ins, on your schedule
Daily check-ins, custom reminders, gentle progress. No broken streaks — skip a day, pick up tomorrow. Pick the cadence that fits: daily, weekly goal, or your own custom repeat. Quit sugar, cut screen time, track sobriety, build a morning routine, or run a focus block — Clarity adapts to your life, not the other way around.
Mood Journal
Daily mood check-ins with notes, photos, and visual charts. Add reflections straight from the calendar — and browse every note you've ever written in one quiet list. Spot emotional patterns over weeks and months. Pair mood with your wellbeings to find the connections that actually matter.
Weekly Insights
See how your habits, mood, and detoxes interact week to week. Personalized nudges when your patterns shift — gentle, not pushy. Spot what helps. Drop what doesn't. Built for self-awareness, not gamification.
Yours to shape
Custom themes, custom emojis, custom colors — for everyone, free. Make Clarity look like something you actually want to open.
Private by default
No account required. All your data stays on your device — nothing leaves.
Free, fully — and how we keep it that way
Every feature is unlocked for everyone, forever. No premium tier. No wellbeing caps. No category limits. No locked themes.
If Clarity helps and you want to support its development, two opt-in choices live in Settings:
- Turn on ads — you'll see them, we'll get paid.
- Subscribe — a small recurring contribution.
Both are off by default. Nothing in the app is gated behind either. Every feature works for everyone, with or without support.
—
Designed for adults building healthier routines without gamification or social pressure. For the curious, the self-aware, and anyone who's tried — and quit — habit and journal apps that felt like another job.
Built around three principles:
- Tracking builds awareness.
- Awareness builds change.
- Change isn't about perfection.

v1.1.1209 Oct 20
This is our biggest update yet: habits you can count, a simpler start, sturdier widgets and hundreds of fixes.
HABITS WITH TARGETS
• Count what matters: set a daily target like 8 glasses of water or 10,000 steps and log amounts as you go
• Set limits for habits you want to cut back on, like at most 2 coffees a day. Going over counts as a miss and shows in amber
• Log progress straight from the habit card, the Details calendar or the widget
• A progress ring shows how close you are, and the amount sheet works smoothly with the keyboard
• Weekly goals, streaks, freezes and reminders all understand targets and limits
HOME SCREEN
• New Today progress card shows how your day is going at a glance
• Filter your habits to focus on what you need right now
• Refreshed cards and toolbar
• A habit you just added scrolls into view
WIDGETS
• Widgets show amounts and streaks
• Every tap on a widget is kept, even quick taps in a row or two widgets at once
• Small and medium widgets stay readable with two rows of habits at large text sizes
• The Lock Screen widget can hide habit names and cuts long titles neatly
• Widgets move to the new day reliably at midnight
GETTING STARTED
• Shorter onboarding: a welcome page and a habit picker, and you are in
• Starter habits now cover every kind of habit, including counted ones and limits
• Onboarding works in landscape and no longer gets stuck on Get Started
ACCESSIBILITY
• VoiceOver reads moods by name, skips decorative emoji and can jump between headings
• VoiceOver can reorder habits, change today's status, move checklist steps, delete moods and dismiss cards
• Widgets describe the day's progress and what a tap will do
• Larger text keeps labels, dialogs, tabs and widgets readable
• Reduce Motion now also calms scrolling, page turns and colour fades
• Improved colour contrast across the app, including on any habit colour
MOOD AND NOTES
• The calendar shows a note dot on days with several moods
• Notes search, previews and the mood shown for each day are more accurate
• A mood's custom emoji can be reset to its default
• The mood screen moves to the new day after midnight
INSIGHTS
• The weekly recap leads with real stats, shares the week's own figures and never compares against an empty week
• Mood distribution percentages now add up to 100%
• The year in pixels grid only shows days that exist and have happened
• Details stats update as soon as you return, and streaks for weekly habits read in weeks
RELIABILITY
• Changing time zone or setting the clock back no longer shifts or hides your history
• Changing a habit's repeat rule keeps every past day as it was
• Double taps save, archive or delete only once
• Reminders clear themselves once every habit they name is done, and stay within iOS's notification limit
• Changing the app language keeps you on the screen you were on
• Swiping back from a tab's first screen no longer jumps to another tab
• Settings buttons open the Settings app again
EXPORT AND SETTINGS
• Export now includes feelings, checklist steps and category names, and opens cleanly in Excel
• The status bar follows the in-app Light or Dark theme
• Clear data finishes properly and resets everything it should
• The tracking prompt appears in the app's language
• Rate app takes you straight to the App Store
LANGUAGES
• More natural Ukrainian, German and Portuguese
• Decimal commas in mood averages where your language uses them
Thank you for using Clarity. If you enjoy it, a rating on the App Store helps a lot.
v1.1.818 Oct 5
A day can now hold more than one mood, reminders arrive at the exact minute you choose, and Clarity is on your Home Screen and Lock Screen.
HOME SCREEN AND LOCK SCREEN WIDGETS
• See today's habits at a glance and check one off with a single tap, without opening the app
• Keep your progress on the Lock Screen and in StandBy
• Not sure how to add it? Settings now walks you through it
MORE THAN ONE MOOD A DAY
• Log again whenever the day turns – each entry keeps its own time and its own words
• Insights count every entry, not just the last one
• A cleaner sheet for logging your mood and notes for the day
REMINDERS ON YOUR TIME
• Pick the exact minute with a new time dial, instead of a rough time window
• Give the mood log and the weekly recap their own reminder times
• When a reminder is about a single habit, tap Done to check it off right from the notification, or tap the reminder to open that habit
ALSO IN THIS UPDATE
• Short confirmations after key actions
• Improved translations in every language
• Faster calendar loading
• Bug fixes and stability improvements
1.1.561 Sep 21
This release rebuilds insights, makes the calendar fully editable, and adds streak freeze.
INSIGHTS, REBUILT Every number now comes from one engine, so the app tells you the same story everywhere — and several metrics that were quietly wrong are fixed ("N times a week" habits, completion rates, the heat map, archived habits).
Every headline stat shows how it compares with the previous period
New pattern cards: habit–mood links, slipping habits, your weakest weekday, streaks at risk
A weekly recap that opens from your weekly reminder
Share your recap or insights as a card image
Per-habit breakdowns, a year-in-pixels grid, and CSV export of everything
MOOD & CALENDAR
Tap any day to open it and edit the mood, note and habits done that day
After choosing a mood, pick feeling words that describe it
Notes are grouped by month, color-coded and searchable
The month grid is tinted by mood, with a summary and earlier entries from the same date
STREAK FREEZE Miss a few days and a habit pauses instead of failing: skipped days no longer redden your calendar or count against consistency, and a streak you've earned can survive a short lapse.
ACCESSIBILITY A full pass over every screen: VoiceOver labels and actions, Reduce Motion and Dynamic Type support, and higher-contrast colors.
ALSO
"Every N days/weeks" habits let you choose the first due date
Real month arrows, correctly localized dates in every language, fixed shared-card transparency
Many fixes to notes, feelings, search and the mood log
1.1.491 Sep 8
Sparse repeat schedules
Not every good habit happens weekly. You can now set a wellbeing to repeat on specific days of the month, or every few weeks — alongside the weekly schedules you already use.
- Cards show the next few occurrence dates, so you always know when something is due
- Streaks now count occurrences instead of calendar days — a monthly habit no longer breaks simply because a month went by
- The details calendar looks three months ahead, so sparse habits have visible upcoming entries
Archived wellbeings are paused, not missed
Archiving a wellbeing now puts its days into a paused state starting from the date you archived it. Those days no longer count against you in insights, and reminders stay quiet. Unarchive and everything picks up cleanly from today.
A more reliable calendar
Entry states are now resolved the same way everywhere in the app, so what you see on a card, in the calendar, and in your insights always agrees. Refreshing is faster and no longer rewrites data behind the scenes.
What's New, in the app
Settings now includes a What's New sheet with recent releases, so you can catch up on changes without leaving the app.
Smaller improvements
- "Okay" is now treated as a positive mood
- Fewer interruptions from ads
- Assorted fixes around day rollover and calendar refresh
1.1.433 Aug 24
This update overhauls reminders and expands where you can capture notes.
New:
- Reminder time slots are now hour ranges instead of single times, giving you more flexible notification timing.
- Create calendar notes from more screens — the mood log, wellbeing, and wellbeing details — with clearer note-location descriptions.
- Refreshed styling across shared dialogs with new theme colors.
- The current day is now highlighted on the wellbeing mini calendar.
- Missed-day indicators now distinguish missed wellbeing days from mood-tracker days.
Fixed:
- Notifications now fire reliably, including when a wellbeing entry is missed.
- Fixed clipping on the notes list and the notification banner corners.
1.1.415 Jul 19
This update brings a new way to tidy up and a clearer look at your mood history:
- Archive, don't delete – Archive wellbeing items as an alternative to permanent deletion. When you remove something, you can now choose to archive it and find it later in the new Archive screen.
- Missed vs. untracked days – The mood calendar now clearly distinguishes a day you missed from a day you simply didn't track your mood.
- Bug fix – Resolved a display issue where a notification banner's rounded corners could clip its content.
We'd love your feedback — leave us a review or reach out any time.
