Thalam - Plan & Track
Plan, track & compare your day
Free · In‑App Purchases
Thalam helps you plan your day in time blocks, track what you actually do, and see the gap between intention and reality.
PLAN YOUR DAY
Build a realistic schedule using time blocks. Assign tasks to specific windows so you always know what you should be working on. Mark blocks as important to get reminder ladders before they start.
TRACK YOUR REALITY
Tap any task to start the timer. Thalam records exactly when you worked and for how long — not what you planned, but what actually happened. Pause mid-session and switch to something urgent without losing your progress. Up to three tasks can sit paused while you handle interruptions.
SEE THE DIFFERENCE
The Actuals view lays every tracked session across a timeline, day by day. Compare what you planned against what you did. Identify which hours of the day are actually productive and which ones slip away.
FRICTION SIGNALS
After a few weeks of tracking planned blocks, Thalam surfaces estimation bias by category. If you consistently plan 1 hour for Coding but it always takes 1 hour 40 minutes, Friction Signals shows you — so you can plan honestly next time.
DAILY REFLECTION
A gentle evening prompt asks how the day went: on track, underestimated, interrupted, or deliberately changed? Add a note and set tomorrow's top priority. Over time, patterns emerge in the Stats tab.
LIVE ACTIVITY & DYNAMIC ISLAND
Your active timer appears on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island — task name, elapsed time, and a live progress ring. Glance at your phone without unlocking it.
TODOS
Capture one-off tasks alongside reusable tasks. Todos leave your list the moment you mark them complete. Free users get five ongoing todos; Pro unlocks unlimited.
IDEAS
Capture fleeting thoughts without breaking your flow. Ideas stay in their own space, separate from tasks, until you are ready to act on them.
EXPENSES
Log spending by category and set a monthly budget. The Stats tab shows your burn rate at a glance — how much is left, how much is gone, and where it went.
THALAM PRO
One-time purchase. No subscription. Pro unlocks unlimited tasks, todos, and categories; full Stats history (Week, Month, Quarter); and all future Pro features.
Your data lives in your private iCloud container. No server, no account, no analytics.
more Here's the **What's New** text for v2.8. Honestly, this release is a **visual refresh**, not a feature drop — so the notes should center on the new look.
## App Store "What's New" (v2.8)
**Short version (recommended):**
> **A warmer, calmer Thalam.**
> We've refreshed the entire light theme — replacing the old cool pastels with a warm, cream-and-sage palette that's easier on the eyes from morning planning to evening review. Light mode is now the default, dark mode is unchanged, and there's polish throughout. Same Thalam, more inviting.
**Bulleted alternative:**
> • New warm light theme , soft cream backgrounds with sage-green accents
> • Light mode is now the default appearance (switch anytime in More → Preferences)
> • Refined colors and contrast across Plan, Track, Stats and Home
> • Visual polish and small fixes throughout
## What actually changed under the hood (for your reference, not for the store)
1. **Warm light-mode palette** : flat cream `#FAF6F1` surface, two-tier sage accent, warm coral secondary, warm-brown text, warmed success/warning/error tones (replacing the lavender→pink→mint gradient).
2. **Light is now the default** appearance (was System).
3. **Segmented-control track fix** :the Productivity/Health/Expense and Home/Categories/Health pickers now sit in a visible warm-grey tray (this session).
4. **In-app links repointed** to thalamplan.com (privacy / FAQ / terms).
Items 3 and 4 are too minor to call out individually in the store notes , they're folded into "polish."
Want me to **trim this to a specific length**, match the **tone of your previous release notes**, or add a localized version? And note: if you'd rather frame it bigger, I can only honestly describe what's in the build , there are no new features in v2.8 beyond the redesign.

Meditation & Sleep — built into your day

Sleep
- Pick your wake time, choose a sleep sound (White / Brown / Pink noise, nature sounds, Fan, Fireplace, Delta Waves, and more)

2.1 May 13
Thalam is now a complete daily companion — not just time, but health, money, and ideas too.
EXPENSE TRACKER
Log spending by category, set a monthly budget, and get alerted when you're close to the limit. Choose your currency, create your own groups, and save templates for recurring expenses. The Stats tab has a dedicated Expense view with a budget dial and monthly history.
HEALTH & ACTIVITY
Track walks, runs, and cycles with distance and duration. Period tracking included. Stats shows your activity across Day, Week, Month, and Quarter — with personal bests, pace trends, and a heatmap calendar. Switch between km and miles in Settings.
NEW TRACK HOME
The Track tab now opens to a home grid — Goals, Todos, Ideas, and Expenses in one place. Tap any card to dive in. Your Up Next block still appears at the top when something is scheduled.
GOALS
Set long-term goals with a time target and deadline. Break them into tasks, log sessions, and watch your progress ring fill. Goals live in the Track home alongside your daily work.
IDEAS
A dedicated space to capture thoughts without cluttering your task list. Park an idea, come back to it later, and promote it to a task or goal when you're ready.
APPLE WATCH
The companion Watch app shows your schedule, lets you start and stop tasks from your wrist, and displays a live timer while you work.
STATS REDESIGN
Three modes — Productivity, Health, Expense — in a single tab. Switch with the toggle at the top.
2.0 May 11
Period Tracking
A new period tracker lives inside the Health mode on the Track tab, replacing the Yoga tile.
Log your cycle:
- Tap the Period tile → calendar view opens
- Log period start date and duration (1–14 days) in two taps
- Edit or delete any past entry by tapping it on the calendar
Predictions:
- Thalam predicts your next period and ovulation window from your history
- Defaults to a 28-day cycle on first entry, self-corrects after 2+ logs
- Prediction gets smarter over time (uses median of last 6 cycles)
Calendar view:
- Month grid showing confirmed period days (solid pink), predicted days (faint pink), and ovulation window
(teal)
- Navigate back and forward through months
- Header shows last period date + next period date at a glance
Reminders (optional):
- "Period expected soon" notification N days before your predicted start
- "Ovulation window" notification on your predicted fertile window start
- Both off by default — activate in More → Reminders → Period Tracking
- Toggle period and ovulation reminders independently
Also accessible from: More → Data → Period Tracker
Privacy: All cycle data stays in your private iCloud account — never sent anywhere.

Health Activity Tracking
The headline feature. A new Health mode in the Track tab lets you start, track, and log workout sessions directly from Thalam.
Activities supported:
- Walk — distance and pace via iPhone pedometer
- Run — distance and pace via iPhone pedometer
- Cycle — distance and speed via GPS
- Yoga — duration only
How it works:
- Tap the heart icon in the Track tab to enter Health mode
- 2×2 tile grid shows each activity with today's session summary
- Tap Start on any tile — Thalam begins a live HealthKit workout
- While tracking, the Active Timer screen shows live km + pace (walk/run) or km + km/h (cycle) updating in real time
- On Save, a HealthSession is created and written to Apple Health
Apple Health integration:
- Workouts are written to the Health app (distance, duration, calories)
- Thalam reads your workout data back to display stats
- All data stays in your private Health account — never sent anywhere
---
Health Stats Card
A new card in the Stats tab showing health activity data for the selected date range (day/week/month/quarter):
- Summary row — total km, minutes, calories, and session count
- Per-activity tiles — Walk, Run, Cycle each show km, pace/speed, and time; Yoga shows session count and minutes
- Bar chart — toggle between km and minutes, filter by activity type (All / Walk / Run / Cycle); adjusts for week, month, and quarter ranges
---
Bug Fixes
- Recurring goal schedule blocks now correctly appear in the Plan tab
- Forecast vs Actuals chart moved to top of Stats tab
- Various CloudKit deduplication improvements

1.6 May 4
LIVE ACTIVITY & DYNAMIC ISLAND
Your active timer now appears on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while you work. See your task name and elapsed time at a glance without unlocking your phone.
HOME SCREEN & LOCK SCREEN WIDGETS
Three new widgets: small and medium Home Screen widgets showing your active timer (or next upcoming block when idle), and a circular Lock Screen widget with a progress ring against your planned block duration.
FRICTION SIGNALS
Thalam now analyses your last 30 days of planned-vs-actual time and shows where you consistently over- or underestimate. Cards appear per category once you have five or more tracked planned sessions — finally, honest data about how long things actually take.
SIRI & SHORTCUTS
Start tracking, stop tracking, pause, and ask "What's next?" — all from Siri or the Shortcuts app. Thalam's App Intents connect to iOS automations so you can build your own hands-free workflows.
BUG FIXES & POLISH
— Timer display corrects instantly when you return from the Lock Screen
— Actuals day view now shows one entry per session (no duplicate tiles)
— Actuals grid lines render correctly across all time windows including midnight-crossing sessions
— Live Activity aligned with app version to ensure reliable behaviour on device
1.5 May 3
• Todos — one-shot items that disappear when you finish them. Plan them into a block or knock them out from the Track tab.
• Save Session redesign — three-button finish flow when there's a todo or planned block to mark complete; Started and Finished pickers are now editable.
• Tap-to-start undo — accidental task starts are recoverable for four seconds.
• Stats — actual time now splits planned vs. ad-hoc on the same bar.
v1.3 Apr 25
What's new in 1.2:
• Categories on Track — tap the new folder toggle next to "Track something else" to browse by category. Ideal if you have many tasks under one theme (subjects, clients, projects). Tap a category to see its tasks and start the timer in one more tap.
• Pin to Track — from More → Categories, pin up to 6 favourites so they always lead in Categories view.
• Dark mode refresh — softer atmosphere, better card depth, cleaner typography. It finally reads like dark mode, not just an inverted theme.
• Polish — pin and count badges on Track tiles now share the same grammar across Tasks and Categories modes.
v1.2.0 Apr 23
• New: Important Blocks — mark critical tasks to get layered reminders 60, 30, and 15 minutes before they start
• Redesigned Track tab — pin up to six favorite tasks to a cleaner grid, with today's scheduled work surfaced automatically
• Appearance setting restored — choose System, Light, or Dark from More → Preferences
• Duplicate task and category names are now caught inline with clear guidance
• Welcome tour rewritten for clarity
• Under-the-hood polish and bug fixes
