Slangua is the Indonesian slang dictionary for the language people actually speak, not the stiff textbook version.
Type or paste any Indonesian or English text and instantly see how locals really say it, from street-casual to polite, with word-by-word breakdowns and the cultural context behind every phrase.
WHY SLANGUA
Translation apps and language courses keep it formal and stiff. Real conversations don't. "Apa kabar" is textbook; "Gimana kabarnya" is how friends actually talk. Slangua shows you the casual, real version, so you understand slang, tone, and register the way native speakers do, and never sound like a robot.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Decode everyday Indonesian slang and casual speech
- See the same phrase from casual to polite, and pick the right tone
- Break down each word inside a real sentence
- See how a word is built: the root, the affix, the formal and the everyday form, and how people spell it in chats
- Write your own sentence and see how a native speaker would say it, from formal to street
- Learn the nuance, tone, and cultural context behind it
- Understand chat messages, captions, and comments naturally
- Translate both ways: Indonesian to English and English to Indonesian
TWO WAYS TO USE IT
- Translate mode: fast, natural translations when you just need the meaning
- Learn mode: deep word-by-word annotations, slang levels, and word detail sheets when you want to go deeper
YOUR OWN WORDS
Every word you look up becomes yours. Words is a personal dictionary built from your own lookups, not a list someone else picked, and the Word Map shows your vocabulary as connected bubbles that fill in as you learn. Star your favorite lookups and scroll back through your full history.
BUILT FOR REAL LIFE
Whether you're an expat in Jakarta, traveling through Indonesia, or just texting Indonesian friends, Slangua helps you sound natural instead of formal and robotic.
Slangua starts with Indonesian and is designed to grow into more languages over time.
Start understanding Indonesian the way it's really spoken. Get Slangua and pick up the slang they don't teach you.

A big update. Slangua now teaches you more about every word and every sentence:
- New word sheets: tap a word to see how it is built (root + affix), how the formal and the everyday form differ, and how people really write it in chats.
- Natural phrasing: when you write a sentence yourself, Learn shows how a native speaker would say it, at all four levels from formal to street. Changed words are bold.
- History: star your favorite lookups, delete entries, and scroll back through your full history, not only the latest 100.
- English learners: choose US or UK English.
- Your stats stay visible when you are offline.
- Word breakdowns are more accurate: no more invented roots or fake prefixes.
- On iOS 26, sheets such as Stats and Word Map look native again: the screen behind them dims like in Apple's own apps.
- Fixes: the paste button on iOS 26, a crash when swiping away a message, translation direction, and onboarding.
