Your life list is now fully yours - editable, portable, and safe. Tap any field note to edit or backdate it: fix the date and time, confidence, location, notes, or photo, and the list re-sorts itself. New Backup & Restore saves everything - sightings with photos, custom lists, favorites, goals, and quiz progress - to a single file you can bring to a new phone, with add-or-replace restore. And the new Export menu shares your sightings in eBird Record Format, ready for eBird's import tool, alongside the spreadsheet CSV. Fully offline and private, as always.

**The biggest Bird Hunter update ever.** We more than doubled the field guide and rebuilt the feel of the whole app. **400+ fully profiled species** — Bird Hunter now covers 400+ North American birds with complete, field-ready profiles: measurements, range, habitat, behavior, voice, food, look-alikes, and pro ID tips. We added 240+ new birds across every group — waterfowl and swans, grouse and quail, loons, grebes, pelicans and seabirds, herons and ibises, rails, shorebirds, gulls and terns, hawks, kites, eagles and owls, woodpeckers and hummingbirds, flycatchers, vireos, jays, wrens, thrushes, finches, sparrows, and a big wave of wood-warblers, tanagers, and blackbirds. **Photos and bird calls** — Hundreds of newly added species now ship with a licensed photo and a real recorded call or song you can play right in the app — fully offline, with clear attribution and licensing on every file. **Browse by Family** — A new taxonomy explorer organizes the whole catalog into scientific families with friendly names and species counts, so you can dive from "New World Warblers" or "Ducks, Geese & Swans" straight to the birds. **Six new Field Sets** — Curated practice packs: Shorebird Shores, Warbler Wave, Waterfowl Raft, Owl Prowl, Desert Southwest, and Raptors Aloft. **Buttery-smooth interface** — A polished pass across the app: fluid spring animations, responsive haptic feedback on Smart ID, favorites, and tabs, and a new color-art system that gives every species a distinctive tile drawn from its real plumage colors. Bird Hunter stays fully offline and private: local storage only, no ads, no analytics, no accounts, and no tracking.

Introducing Smart ID — describe what you saw and get a ranked, confidence-scored shortlist that never dead-ends, with clear reasons for each match and typo/synonym tolerance. Plus dark mode, a richer life list, and a complete VoiceOver and Dynamic Type pass.

What's New in Bird Hunter 5.1 Birding Statistics - The Life List tab now opens with a full stats panel: species count by year or all time, sightings per calendar month displayed as a bar chart, average confidence, how many notes have photos, location count, and a confidence distribution breakdown (high/medium/low). See your most active birding months at a glance. CSV Export - Tap the export button in the Life List to share all your sightings as a standard CSV file. Each row includes date, species, scientific name, confidence percentage, location, and notes. Open it in Numbers, Excel, or import it into eBird-compatible tools. Interactive Compare - The Compare tab now lets you choose any 2-3 species from the full North American catalog to put side by side. Tap "Choose" to search and select species, then review a full side-by-side panel with length, wingspan, mass, bill shape, wing pattern, tail pattern, habitat, season, behavior, voice, food, migration, and abundance - plus a "Key Differences" panel that automatically highlights only the traits that differ between your selected birds. Delete Sightings - Long-press any sighting card in the Life List to delete it with a confirmation step. Bug fix: Compare tab now persists your chosen species across app launches.

Version 5 adds 1,595 offline checklist records, 136 licensed bird photos, 45 available licensed calls or songs, selected-bird field notes/photos, and a 100 MB-plus offline field pack.
