Skip Ahead no longer costs you your free characters. If you already read some Chinese and skip ahead to your level, those characters used to eat the whole free allowance — you could hit the upgrade screen before your first lesson. Now the free run is fifty characters learned from wherever you start.

Every character now shows what it is built from. BUILT FROM — 亻 + 尔 = 你. Each character opens with the parts it is assembled from, glossed one by one, and the parts you have already learned are marked. Learning stops piling up and starts compounding. TRADITIONAL 繁體 — a new setting shows the form used in Taiwan and Hong Kong, including notes for the characters where simplification merged several into one (發 for to send, 髮 for hair). 50 CHARACTERS FREE — the free tier went from 10 to 50.
