Turn messy screenshots into clean, dated JPGs or HEICs. Restores the capture date to EXIF — from the file name or via OCR — and renames files so they sort in order. ScreenStamp is a lightweight macOS utility for cleaning up screenshot files. Drop or choose PNG, JPG, HEIC, or GIF images, and ScreenStamp will handle the repetitive parts for you: - Convert screenshots to JPG or HEIC — pick HEIC to keep transparency, which JPG cannot store - Infer capture date and time from screenshot filenames - Read the date from the image itself via OCR when the filename has none — in English, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese - Write missing EXIF date metadata into converted files - Normalize filenames into a clean, sortable timestamp format — or define your own - Check any date format before you convert, with the built-in Date Recognition Test - Adjust compression quality - Optionally draw a retro film-style date stamp on the image ScreenStamp is especially useful for archived screenshots, exported captures, and mobile screenshots that lost their original metadata. Chat captures count too — from an iMessage, WhatsApp, or Discord screenshot it reads the date header and the message time shown on screen. Supported filename styles include common macOS screenshot names and the export names apps write, such as: - Screen Shot 2021-02-23 at 18.19.20 - Screenshot 2023-12-10 at 20.38.09 - Screenshot_20260309_191743_Internet - KakaoTalk_Photo_2026-04-29-14-24-18 - 20260309_191743 Not sure whether your files will be recognized? Paste the date exactly as it appears — in a filename or on screen — into the Date Recognition Test panel, and ScreenStamp shows you the date it would read, or tells you why it could not. If a JPG or HEIC already has valid date EXIF, ScreenStamp leaves it alone. If it does not, ScreenStamp can estimate the timestamp from the filename — or from text inside the image — and write it back into the file. Built for people who manage lots of screenshots and want a fast, simple way to make them cleaner, more searchable, and better organized.

- New: Paste from the clipboard — press ⌘V (or click Paste) to add a screenshot you just captured, or an image copied from a browser, without saving it first - New: Pasted Image Date — use the moment it was pasted, or read the date from the image via OCR; the paste time stays as the fallback - Improved: filename date detection now reads English month-name export names such as "Image Sep 10, 2026 at 03_02_20 PM"
