Built for recreational boats on Irish waters: anglers, divers, cruising yachts, RIBs, kayakers and sailing schools. Start with the basic seabed-depth map and Man Overboard without creating an account.
INCLUDED MAP AND SAFETY TOOLS
• Basic seabed depth map — INFOMAR depth and contour lines across Ireland and the UK, streamed (needs a data connection).
• Lighthouses, RNLI lifeboat stations and the twelve-mile limit from clearly credited public sources.
• Man Overboard — long-press the MOB button to mark your current position to assist your own search (not a distress beacon).
• Night mode — a dark, red-accented map view designed to reduce glare after dark.
MARANOX PRO
Upgrade inside the app to put your own boat on the chart with GPS follow and a depth readout, save marks and waypoints, plan routes with distance, bearing and ETA, record tracks and keep a local logbook. Pro also adds finest-detail depth, seabed type, wreck and obstruction details, satellite imagery, live tide gauges and wave-buoy data, offline map downloads, cloud backup and cross-device sync, and advanced EMODnet fishing and traffic layers. Available plans and any eligible introductory offer are shown with localised App Store terms before purchase.
YOUR LOCAL DATA
Marks, tracks and logbook records (Maranox Pro) are kept on this device without an account. If Pro ends, your saved data stays on the phone and returns when Pro is active. Removing the app can erase local-only data. Maranox Pro cloud backup and sync help protect and use supported records across signed-in devices.
NOT FOR NAVIGATION
Maranox is a planning and situational-awareness tool. It is not a certified navigation system and must not be used as your primary means of navigation. Keep your paper charts, VHF and all proper safety kit on board.
WHO BUILT IT
Two Irish boaters who wanted Ireland's public seabed survey to be easier to use on the water. Maranox uses public INFOMAR data under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (Geological Survey Ireland & Marine Institute), shown in-app.

A redesigned Layers sheet and a smoother seabed map.
- Layers are now in three tabs (Seabed, Map and Live), with one place to choose your seabed colours.
- Detailed depth (Pro) draws the finest survey depths, shaded to show the shape of the seabed.
- Standard depth maps for Ireland and the UK can be downloaded for offline use.
- The map no longer flashes when you zoom with depth layers on, and the Offline maps list is fixed.
- Choose where a route starts, or tap Use my position. The route card has clearer buttons.
- Maranox now turns sideways on iPhone, with the first-run screens, Layers and the Pro screens reworked to fit.
- Maranox Free keeps the basic seabed depth map and Man Overboard. Pro adds GPS, marks, routes, tracks, offline maps and cloud sync.
