Every second, you have one fewer. Fewer is a macOS menu bar app that counts down the seconds you have left to live, computed from your birth date, country, and sex against real actuarial life-expectancy data. It never leaves your menu bar. It never sends a notification. It just sits there, ticking. WHY FEWER EXISTS Most productivity tools help you do more. Fewer helps you do less of what doesn't matter. Marcus Aurelius kept a reminder of death on his desk. Steve Jobs asked himself, every morning, if today were his last, would he do what he's about to do. You don't need a notebook or a ritual. You just need a number, always visible, that only goes down. WHAT'S IN THE MENU BAR • A live, per-second countdown: LED dot matrix, split-flap (airport board), Nixie tubes, LCD, or minimal text • Or switch to an animated icon (hourglass, heart, flame, ECG…) that reveals the full countdown on hover • Animations tuned to feel alive, not frantic. Pulse, bounce, heartbeat, at your chosen speed A PHILOSOPHICAL REMINDER, NOT A MEDICAL PREDICTION Fewer is a philosophical reminder, not a medical prediction. The countdown is a statistical estimate based on public actuarial life-expectancy tables. It is an average, not a forecast about you, and must not be interpreted as medical, health, or psychological advice. Country × sex gives you a number that's actually about you, not an average of everyone. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your birth date never leaves your Mac. No account. No cloud. No analytics. The app is small and opens instantly. FREE TO START Three display icons and the Factory theme are free, forever. A single one-time purchase unlocks all 11 themes and all premium icons. No subscription, no expiry. WHO FEWER IS FOR Founders who need to stop doom-scrolling at 11pm. Writers who've been meaning to start the book. Anyone who's read Seneca and wants something more than a tattoo. Install it. Look up at your menu bar once an hour. You'll know what to do. "You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think." Marcus Aurelius Fewer. Live every second.
