Jam with other performers over peer-to-peer sessions, no servers. Livecode ORCA with MIDI input, CC control, prefabs, polyphonic synths, shader visuals, and recording. Orcalot turns ORCA livecoding into a focused desktop studio for generative music, MIDI performance, sound experiments, and audiovisual sketches. Load one shared SF2, SF3, or DLS SoundFont per project, embed it in .orcalot, and choose Bank and Preset independently on every channel. Program custom Bytebeat expressions per channel, inspect them in a zoomable and pannable waveform preview, and restart time per note or let it continue for long compositions. Start an Orcalot Jam with up to eight participants over peer-to-peer connections, with no separate server or account. Collaborate on ORCA, shaders, and synth settings, keep transport in sync, and transfer changed SoundFonts, samples, images, and videos only when needed. Build patterns on the ORCA grid, play Orcalot's internal synthesizer, read MIDI notes and control changes directly into your patches, transform images and looping videos into reactive shader visuals, record ideas, and save everything as a portable .orcalot project. Your sequence, graphics, theme colors, and sound settings stay together, so a performance setup or late-night sketch is easy to reopen. Why creators use Orcalot: - Livecode generative rhythms and melodies with the ORCA grid language - Perform with MIDI input, CC read/write tools, and controller feedback - Transpose notes in the grid and build richer harmonic movement - Browse, copy, save, and insert reusable Prefabs for ORCA and Shader code - Play polyphonic chords through the built-in synth channels - Choose AM, FM, Mono, Pluck, Membrane, Noise, Sampler, SoundFont, or Bytebeat on any channel - Shape AM/FM modulation and engine-specific sound controls - Load audio samples into sampler channels - Keep channel engines, sound settings, and embedded samples together inside the new .orcalot project archive - Shape pluck voices with attack noise, dampening, and resonance controls - Turn images and looping videos into custom, audio-reactive shader visuals - Design and save custom themes for stage, teaching, or low-light sessions - Record ideas quickly from the same workspace - Save complete .orcalot projects or import legacy .orca grids - Work offline in a self-contained macOS creative tool Orcalot is made for livecoders, electronic musicians, sound designers, visual artists, educators, and curious developers who want an inspiring place to explore algorithmic music on macOS.
