Penny: Deal Scanner & Alerts
Scan. Save. Flip for profit.
Only for iPhone
Free · In‑App Purchases
Stores mark items down to a penny. They just don't tell you which ones.
Penny does. Live clearance, real price mistakes, and the $0.01 finds that never make it into an ad — with the aisle and bay, so you walk straight to the shelf instead of wandering the store.
PRICE GLITCHES
Real pricing errors, caught while they're still live. A 65" 8K TV at $1,977 that should have been $5,299. An electric scooter at $601, down from $1,399. These get fixed fast, so you hear about them fast.
IN-STORE CLEARANCE
Home Depot markdowns at the store you actually shop — down to the aisle and bay. Most finds save more than $50. No app tells you where the item is standing. This one does.
PENNY LISTS
Every week, items at Dollar General, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar quietly drop to $0.01. We publish the list before they're gone.
BARCODE SCANNER
Point your camera at anything to see the real clearance price. The shelf tag is wrong more often than you'd think, and it's almost never wrong in the store's favor.
SAVED DEALS & ALERTS
Save what you're hunting. We'll tell you the moment the price moves.

They want to charge you to find out anything. A complete joke. Just trying to learn about penny items and this is where they sent me but Instead it’s an app to scam you out of money. a complete joke
Developer Response I’m the solo developer building Penny, and I completely get where you’re coming from. If you just came to learn about penny shopping, hitting a paywall immediately feels like a bait-and-switch. That onboarding is on me, and I’m actively redesigning it.To be clear: the daily penny lists and community drops are completely free to browse. The paid subscription is only for the heavy lifting (real-time store inventory, exact aisle/bay locations, and barcode scanner). If you were charged for a trial you didn't want, request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com—Apple handles the billing and I never contest refunds. If you just want to know how penny hunting works, email me at support@pennydeals.app and I’ll help you out for free.— Alex

What's new in 1.9.1
• Dark mode: turn it on in Settings > Appearance.
• Creating your account is faster: continue with Apple, Google, or email.
• Add the Penny widget to your home screen right from Settings.
• If you snap a barcode instead of your receipt, we tell you right away.
• Fixes and improvements so everything feels smoother.
1.9.1 Sep 28
New: Penny widgets for your Home Screen. See penny leads at your store with aisle and bay, the newest price error, and the top deal, without opening the app. Press and hold your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search Penny. Also: Home Depot price errors are now marked in your store list.
1.9.0 Sep 26
Invite friends with a code they can actually say out loud. Share yours from Profile,
and new accounts can enter one in the first day.
Not seeing anything in your store? Tap the button and we will go look for you.
The wait for a store scan now tells you what it is doing instead of just spinning.
Profile, Settings and the plans screen rebuilt, and Lowe's is back for VIP.
1.8.8 Sep 19
Report a 1¢ ring with one tap, right from each item.
Add a photo of your receipt: we review it, and once it checks out, your find shows as confirmed for everyone.
When you close the barcode at the register, we ask what it rang up at.
The Dollar General list now shows only Dollar General items.
Fixes and improvements.
1.8.7 Sep 13
Opens faster
Penny no longer waits on several network requests before showing your first screen, and Home loads the penny list summary instead of the whole list.
Less waiting, less data
Screens you return to reuse what they already loaded instead of fetching it again.
Coming back is easier
If you cancelled and tap our "keep your penny list" notification, you now land on an offer to stay, with the date your plan ends and the exact price after any free period.
Fixes
The stay-offer badge now fits in Spanish, and the offer only appears when your subscription can actually use it.
18.5 Sep 12
Clearer pricing
Plan prices now appear before you scroll, and every button states exactly what you will be charged and when.
Honest labels
Penny lists now read "Sourced from" instead of "Confirmed by." A published list is a lead, not a confirmation. The register is what confirms it. Retailer names on those lists also display properly now instead of internal codes.
Report what did not ring
Found an item that did not scan at a penny? You can now report that too, so the next shopper knows. We also removed the estimated odds, which were not based on real data.
Filters that match the feed
The store filter now shows only retailers that actually have deals right now, so a filter never empties your list for no reason.
Upgrade from Pro
Pro subscribers can now see and choose VIP from the Profile screen.
1.8.4 Sep 9
Cancelling works, and the offer tells the truth.
• Fixed: cancelling now actually takes you to the App Store.
Before, it could bounce you back without doing anything.
• Fixed: "Update payment method" and the failed-payment banner
no longer do nothing.
• The offer to stay now says exactly what it is: one month free.
It used to say "half price" and show $0.00.
• New subscription screen: your plan, when it renews, and what
it costs, all visible.
• If you cancel, we ask why in one tap. You can skip it.
• Privacy and stability improvements.
1.8.3 Aug 31
What's New in 1.8.1
In-store clearance got a real redesign.
The Home Depot and Target lists are now full-width rows instead of a cramped two-column grid, so product names, aisle locations and prices all fit without truncating.
You can finally tell which store a find is in. Rows now show the store and how far it is — "St Joseph #1234 · 2 mi" — instead of just repeating the retailer name you already tapped. Multiple stores in one city no longer look identical.
Sort and filter your finds. Order by biggest discount, biggest saving, lowest price or newest sighting. Narrow to items with a known aisle, or to ones spotted in the last 24 hours.
A cleaner deal page. The product photo is no longer covered by badges. Discount, savings and freshness moved below the price where they're easier to read.
Fixes
Fixed the "cancel subscription" button not opening Apple's subscription page
Fixed a white line down both edges of the clearance screens
Your store now shows its name even before the first finds arrive
Fixed the age indicator disappearing on some deals
Filtering to zero results now explains itself instead of showing a blank screen
1.8.1 Aug 24
See which store is worth the drive.
The In-store tab now shows how many clearance finds are waiting at each store near you, so you can tell at a glance where to go instead of tapping to find out. And when we're checking a new store for you, you can watch it happen instead of waiting on a blank screen.
Straight to what you unlocked.
After you subscribe, every place you just paid for opens with a tap, with a live count where we have one. Before, it was a list of promises and a single button.
"Confirmed by" tells the truth now.
Penny finds show the retailer that actually verified the price. Family Dollar finds were missing that line entirely — it's back.
1.7.2 Aug 14
Your saved deals now live on your account, not just on this phone. Reinstall or
switch devices and your list comes back, penny finds included, with their prices
and store details intact.
In-store finds tell you where to look. Home Depot rows show the exact aisle and
bay when the store has confirmed it. Target doesn't publish aisles, so those rows
show the section plus the DPCI, the number printed on the shelf label that any
associate can look up.
Spanish is Spanish everywhere now. Error messages were the one place the app
still fell back to English, which is exactly when clear wording matters most.
The in-store screen no longer gives up. A single dropped connection used to end
the whole load and leave you on a dead error screen. It keeps trying now.
Also: if your ZIP is saved to your profile we use it instead of asking for your
location again, and retailer tabs that have never had a find near you are gone.
1.7.1 Aug 11
Saved deals now follow your account, so they're there on any device.
New alerts inbox — every price drop, penny find and glitch lands in one place instead of vanishing with the notification.
Tap a notification and you go straight to the deal, not the upgrade screen.
eBay prices now read "Listed ~$X" and say plainly that these are asking prices, not sold prices. A member caught us on this one and he was right.
1.7.0 Aug 2
Deal Radar, rebuilt.
The Radar now ranks by how much money you actually save, biggest
first, instead of by percentage off. A $3,000 saving no longer sits
below a 99% discount on a $4 phone case. Confirmed price errors jump
to the top because they disappear fast.
We also stopped showing deals that already ended. Every card now has
to prove it is still live, and anything we cannot verify comes off
the feed. You will see fewer cards. All of them will be real.
In-store, done right.
Setting up your local store no longer leaves you staring at a spinner.
You see your actual store, the real stages of the search, and an honest
estimate. If there is no store close enough, we tell you straight away
and offer the nearest one instead of leaving you at a dead end. Walk
away and we will notify you when it is ready.
Penny guides you can read in an aisle.
Rewritten to be scannable while you shop, with the Home Depot tell that
actually finds pennies and the verified facts the old guides were
missing.
Also in this release:
Alerts now reach you. A bug meant most people were never registered
for notifications, so deals went out and never arrived. Fixed.
Emails and push now arrive in your language.
Locked deals show what you would save, so you know what is behind
the upgrade before you pay for it.
We removed a countdown timer that was not real.
The scanner answers faster and no longer opens with a promise the
data cannot keep.
1.6.9 Jul 26
This one is about telling you the truth and helping you find more.
• Rewritten hunting guides. Every retailer has its own tell: at Home
Depot, "not available in this store" in their app often means it just
went to a penny. At Dollar Tree, the price checker on the wall tells
you before you ever reach the register. Now we teach you exactly what
to look for at each one.
• Every lead shows its age. See when we last spotted it, and we flag the
ones that are getting old.
• Fewer dead ends. If your store has nothing today, we point you to your
penny leads instead of an empty screen.
• In-store: fixed the "0 deals" that showed even when your stores had
plenty.
• The scanner is now honest about what it can and can't do.
• We removed the countdown timer from the upgrade screen. It wasn't
real, and it shouldn't have been there.
1.6.8 Jul 25
The scanner just got superpowers:
• Scan any barcode and instantly see if it's on this week's penny lists: Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar
• See when other hunters have rung an item at $0.01, confirmed at the register
• Daily scan limits now reset correctly every day
• New: join our free Telegram channel from your profile. Daily deals, drops, and giveaways
• Under the hood: we can now ship you fixes and improvements faster than ever
Happy hunting.
