STREAMS, RIVERS & LAKES Every waterway in the lower 48, named where it has one. Line weight follows actual flow, so a real creek reads heavy and a seasonal draw reads light. The map tells you which run year-round and which only after rain — a dry wash and a live creek are different targets. Tap any stream for its name, size, and average flow. Lakes, reservoirs, and ponds get their own layer. 3D TERRAIN, REBUILT Every layer now works in 3D. LiDAR hillshades, historic topo, mining claims, public lands, and property lines all drape over the terrain instead of disappearing when you tilt. Same buttons, same controls — the 3D button just tilts what you are already looking at. 3D terrain now works offline too, inside a downloaded area. CLAIM WARNINGS, FIXED The warning that tells you when you are on a mining claim had three problems, and all three are fixed. It now works whether the claims layer is on or off. It checks where you actually are instead of where the map is pointed. And it knows when you are inside a claim rather than measuring to its center — on a large placer claim you could walk a third of a mile inside it and never get warned. Filed and pending claims count too. If someone has staked it, you will know. FIXES Fixed a crash when panning across dense claim country with the claims layers on. If it caught you, the app could crash again on reopening — that is fixed too, and the app now recovers on its own. The map reopens where you left it, at the same zoom, with the same layers on, and in 3D if you left it in 3D. Pro layers no longer turn themselves off when you reopen the app. Interrupted map downloads can be resumed instead of starting over. Tapping a user's avatar in your notifications opens their profile.

Close the app and open it back up in the same spot, at the same zoom, with the same layers on. If you were in 3D, you come back in 3D. FIND ME, TWO WAYS Tap once to center on your location. Tap again and the map follows you as you move. Pan the map to stop. FIXES Pro layers no longer turn themselves off when you reopen the app. Interrupted map downloads can be resumed instead of starting over, and a partial download now says so instead of looking finished. Tapping a user’s avatar in your notifications opens their profile. Two-finger tilt no longer works in 2D, where it was easy to trigger by accident. The opacity slider now shows when more than one layer is active, so you know you can switch which layer it controls.

OFFLINE MAPS Download map areas to your phone while you have signal, then use them anywhere — even with no service at all. This isn't just the satellite view. Everything comes with it: both LiDAR hillshades, all three historic topo layers, mining claims, public lands, and property lines. The same map you use at home, working in a canyon with zero bars. Pick your areas from a grid, name them, and download. Out in the field, tap a saved area and the map runs entirely off your phone. PROPERTY LINES — 133 COUNTIES Parcel boundaries across California, Oregon, Washington, and Arizona, with owner names where counties publish them. PUBLIC LANDS, REBUILT Tap any parcel to see who manages it, the unit name, and whether it's open. Wilderness areas, national recreation areas, and study areas now have their own layer so you know when special rules apply. FASTER MINING CLAIMS Active and closed claims now load from our own servers instead of BLM's, so they draw faster and keep working when BLM's site is down. FIXES Pro features no longer lock out when you have no signal. Finds logged offline are now tappable on the map after you reconnect, and no longer show up twice.

LiDAR maps now go one zoom level deeper with 1-meter detail. Zoom in further and you'll see ground you couldn't before. There's also a second LiDAR layer with different lighting. Some features sit in shadow on one and show clearly on the other, so it's worth flipping between them over ground you're working.

HISTORIC TOPO MAPS Scanned USGS topographic maps going back to 1879, laid over the modern world with their own opacity slider. Fade between then and now to find the mill, the cabin, the wagon road, and the townsite that are not there anymore. Three eras to pick from: Oldest (1880s-1930s), Classic (1900s-1940s), and Detailed (1930s-1940s). Available now in California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Arizona, with more states coming. Pair it with the LiDAR hillshade and you can see the old map on top and the earthworks still in the dirt underneath. COIN & RELIC ID Photograph a find and get an identification. Coins come back with the type, the years it was minted, the metal content, and the history behind it. Relics are dated from the details that actually matter: nail type, button construction, glass seams, cartridge headstamps. Everything saves to your phone so you can build a record of what you have pulled out of the ground. ALSO IN THIS UPDATE Every map layer now has its own opacity control, so you can blend two layers instead of fighting over one slider. The layer list is grouped into categories that expand and collapse. A guided tour of the map screen runs the first time you open it, and can be replayed anytime from Settings. Pin types now include relic, coin, and point of interest. Pins save directly to your phone and work with no service. Tap any pin or logged find to see its coordinates, and tap the coordinates to copy them. Public land boundaries now load based on where you are looking on the map, not where your phone is.

1-Meter LiDAR Hillshade The Hillshade layer now uses 1-meter USGS 3DEP LiDAR. At that resolution the ground tells on itself — placer cuts, hydraulic pits, tailings piles, benches, and old water races show up in the terrain, even where brush has covered them for a century. California and Oregon load instantly. The rest of the country works too. Also in this update: fixed the keyboard covering buttons when writing a long post or logging a find.
