TaxLocationTracker takes the guesswork out of multi-state tax compliance. The app runs quietly in the background, using battery-efficient cellular triangulation to detect which US state you're in — then logs each day automatically so you have an accurate record when tax season arrives.
**How it works**
The app uses iOS significant-location-change monitoring — the most power-efficient method available — checking your state roughly every few hours. There's no GPS drain and no constant polling. You set it up once and forget about it.
**Interactive US map**
See your travel history at a glance on a color-coded map of all 50 states plus DC. Tap any region to zoom in, then tap a state to view your full visit history broken down by month.
**State grid & detail views**
A quick-scan grid shows every state you've visited, how many days you spent there, and when you were last there. Drill into any state for a month-by-month timeline of every recorded visit.
**Tax-ready CSV exports**
Export your data in two formats: a full location record with dates, states, and coordinates, or a clean state-by-state summary with total days and last-visited dates. Share directly with your CPA or import into any spreadsheet.
**Tamper-evident records**
Every location record is cryptographically signed on your device and linked in a hash chain. This means your data is audit-ready — it can be independently verified and has not been altered after the fact.
**Privacy first**
All data is stored locally on your device by default. Nothing leaves your phone unless you choose to sync. Optional iCloud Drive backup keeps your records safe across devices using Apple's encrypted infrastructure. Optional Sign in with Apple enables cloud sync and inactivity reminders if you want them.
