Virtual Pantry
Your kitchen, on a shelf
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Rebuilt from scratch: a warmer shelf view, receipt scanning that learns your corrections, and expiry dates worked out food by food. Everything stays on your iPhone.
Virtual Pantry keeps track of the food you already own, so nothing goes off at the back of the fridge and you stop buying what you have.
Your home screen is a set of wooden shelves — one for the fridge, one for the freezer, one for the pantry, and any others you add — with a card for every item. A "Use soon" shelf sits on top, so the thing that needs eating today is the first thing you see.
ADD FOOD IN SECONDS
• Scan a barcode and the name, brand and photo fill themselves in
• Scan a grocery receipt and add the whole shop at once
• Or just type a name — that works too
IT LEARNS YOUR KITCHEN
Receipts print things like "GV WHL MLK GAL". Fix it once and Virtual Pantry remembers, so the next receipt from that shop reads "Whole Milk" by itself. The same goes for barcodes you correct, where you keep a food, and how long it really lasts for you. Everything it has learned is listed in Settings, and you can forget any of it.
DATES THAT MAKE SENSE
Every food gets a realistic date from the USDA FoodKeeper tables built into the app — no guessing, no typing a date for every tin. Mark something opened and the date shortens. Move it to the freezer and it stretches. Your own corrections always win.
REMINDERS, YOUR WAY
Get a nudge a week before, three days before, on the day, and the day after — or pick your own times, for everything or for one particular food.
THE REST OF IT
• A shopping list that can put an item straight back on its shelf when you check it off
• A history of what you used and what you threw away, so you can see what keeps going to waste
• Your own photo on any item
• Dark mode
• Full VoiceOver and Dynamic Type support
EVERYTHING STAYS ON YOUR IPHONE
No account, no sign-up, no server. Your shelves, your photos and everything the app has learned live on your device. A barcode is looked up in the food database, and a receipt photo is sent to Google to be read — the app tells you so before it does. Nothing else about your kitchen leaves your iPhone.
Food data from Open Food Facts (ODbL). Shelf-life figures from the USDA FoodKeeper.
