Version 2.2.1 — shortcut reliability: • On launch, SwitchBack now checks that its shortcut (⌃⌘E) is actually registered with macOS, and re-registers it automatically if needed. • If the shortcut still isn't available, the app explains what to do and points you straight to the panel that always works: paste the text and get it fixed. • The menu bar panel is now highlighted as the way that works in every case, including apps that don't support macOS text services. General stability fixes.

What's new in 2.2: • A new three-page welcome guide with a demo you can try right away. • A live "Service active" status line in Settings and in the welcome guide, plus step-by-step instructions for changing the shortcut. • Redesigned Settings window, and a fix for a crash when opening Settings on macOS 26. • Menu bar panel: fills from the clipboard when you open it (can be turned off in Settings), a Paste button, and a tidier menu. • Diagnostics and Support: a self-test and a diagnostics report you can share if something does not work. The report stays on your Mac and never contains your text. • Smarter fixing: words written in capitals (like ZOHO) are left as they are. • The app language now follows your system language on first launch. • MacBooks with a notch: a heads-up when the icon is hidden by a full menu bar. The shortcut works regardless.

A big usability update: • The default shortcut is now Cmd-Ctrl-E. The previous default collided with combinations many apps already use, so it did not always respond. • The service is active the moment you install. No more turning it on manually in System Settings. • The service is now called "Convert Text With SwitchBack", so it is obvious what it does in the menu. • A new, simpler welcome screen with a live example and a short guide. • New guidance in Settings for the rare case where the shortcut is taken by another app.
