Dictate, transcribe, and transform your words into polished documents with on-device AI workflows. Your models, your templates, private by design, fast by default. Tanuki turns messy input into finished work — on your Mac, with local AI models, and your data never leaves the machine. It's the opposite of cloud AI. No accounts in someone else's datacenter, no prompts crossing the internet, no model training on your work. Local models. Predictable workflows. Real privacy. Access requires a subscription — two tiers, each with a 7-day free trial: Basic: the full desktop app Pro: adds the local-network HTTP service DESIGNED FOR BORING, USEFUL WORK Tanuki won't wow your dinner-party guests, but it might help you draft the invite. It does the boring, valuable things you actually need: Turn audio into a transcript Pull decisions out of a meeting Extract action items from a long document Rewrite messy notes into clean minutes Draft an email to your boss (it also won't tell your boss) HOW IT WORKS Drop a file in. A workflow runs. The output lands in Tanuki and can be delivered anywhere you like: a local folder, S3, WebDAV, Dropbox, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or OneDrive. Supported inputs: Audio: WAV, M4A, MP3, AAC, FLAC Documents: TXT, PDF, DOCX, MD, RTF A workflow is a sequence of steps — transcribe, extract, summarise, rewrite. Set it up once, run it forever. BUILD YOUR OWN WORKFLOWS Workflows and the context passed between steps are fully editable in the app: Create a new workflow in minutes Configure each step's template, model slot, and context Save, import, export, share The cleverness is yours. Tanuki is the workbench. COMPOSE LIVE A dedicated editor for drafting documents in place, with an assistant alongside: Draft in real time with inline formatting Voice input — talk, get text Turn spoken thoughts into emails as you go Ask questions across your entire session history: "Two years ago we discussed what colour my character's car was — what did we decide?" Tanuki searches your sessions and answers. TWO MODEL SLOTS Two independent inference slots: Fast — extraction, classification, quick rewrites Deep — heavier reasoning, multi-step work Fill each slot from your local model library. Tanuki uses the standard Hugging Face cache — no proprietary weights, no lock-in. A better model ships next month? Swap it in. PRO: LOCAL NETWORK SERVER Unlocks a local HTTPS API for driving Tanuki programmatically: Serve your whole team or your scripts over the local network Optional OIDC authentication against your own identity provider Automatic self-signed certificates Built-in Swagger interface for development Workflows marked ephemeral clean up after themselves One Mac, the whole office: team AI for less than a single cloud seat — without the energy bill NO AGENTS, NO SURPRISES Tanuki is deliberately not an "AI agent." Workflows are linear and deterministic: the model works inside the step you gave it and touches nothing else. It can't reach your bank, won't send email on your behalf, and isn't trying to replace you — it's here for the small tasks.
