Top Tier is a best-of food app built around one simple idea: the
people closest to a category are the best people to tell you
what's great in it. A pit-master ranks barbecue. A pastry chef
ranks bakeries. A regular who has eaten every taco in the city
ranks the taco trucks.
Instead of infinite reviews with no point of view, Top Tier asks
each curator a sharper question: what's your Top 5?
That's it — five picks, ranked #1 to #5. No filler. No
bottom-of-the-barrel choices padded in. When a curator gives you
only four, that's honest signal too.
No star ratings. No letter grades. If a place earned a spot, it's
already top tier — the only question is where it lands.
What you get
• Ranked Top 5s: every list is capped at five, so making the cut
means something. The top three get the podium — gold, silver,
bronze.
• City Consensus: locals' rankings blend into one rolling
leaderboard per category, growing as more locals rank. Rows
show live "open until X" status and distance from you, and
every place reads as "Ranked #N" — tap through to the full
consensus behind it.
• Real people: locals and category obsessives who put their
names on their picks.
• 63 US cities, from NYC and LA to New Haven, Albuquerque,
and Savannah.
• Signature dishes done right: New Haven apizza, Chicago deep
dish, Albuquerque green chile, Boston lobster roll, Memphis
barbecue, St. Louis pork steak, Detroit Coney dogs.
• Taste Match: find the curators whose palate actually lines up
with yours, and follow them.
• Built for browsing: category view, map view, deep place pages,
and a "What's new in your city" rail that surfaces fresh
categories as they land.
Editorial picks in every city, selected from trusted local
food publications (Eater, Resy, regional dailies). Join as a
curator and publish your own Top 5s.
