When you film something against a green or blue screen, the edges of your subject inevitably blend with the green or blue background. This creates pixels that are a mix of your subject's colour and the green or blue screen's colour. Traditional keyers struggle to untangle these colours, forcing you to spend hours building complex edge mattes or manually rotoscoping. Even modern "AI Roto" solutions typically output a harsh binary mask, completely destroying the delicate, semi-transparent pixels needed for a realistic composite. Niko and the amazing team at Corridor Digital, built the CorridorKey Models to solve this un-mixing problem, and now CorridorKey by LateNite brings CorridorKey to Final Cut Pro. This is NOT a fork. We've taken the blue and green CorridorKey Models, converted them to MLX and built a completely new Swift & Swift UI engine powered by modern Apple frameworks. Whilst there are already some great fork's of CorridorKey, such as EZ-CorridorKey, none of them are purposely build for Mac & Apple Silicon. CorridorKey by LateNite brings an Effect directly into Final Cut Pro, as well as a Standalone Editor - optimised for ProRes in and out. It has been built and optimised for Apple Silicon Mac's. It makes full use of the GPU, Neural Engine, Metal and MPX - pushing the hardware to the max. If you're working with ProRes or HEVC, it makes use of Apple Silicon's hardware encoders and decoders. It uses Apple's Vision Framework to use machine learning to "cut out" any foreground people, to use as a "hint" for CorridorKey. CorridorKey by LateNite has been thrown together by Chris at LateNite. This would NOT be possible without Niko's at Corridor Digital's amazing CorridorKey green and blue screen models. The CorridorKey by LateNite icon was designed by the amazing Matthew Skiles.
