Widget improvements Your home-screen widget now refreshes on its own through the day, so it stays current whether or not you open the app. And removing a site from your favourites clears it from the widget straight away, instead of waiting until you next open Parakiter. Announcements Opening an announcement no longer makes it disappear. Start a video, run out of time, come back to it later — it stays on your dashboard until you choose "Remove from dashboard". Better rain forecasting Rain now only counts against an hour when the forecast really expects it. A small amount at a low chance is the forecast hedging its bets, and it was writing off perfectly good flying. Heavy rain still rules an hour out whatever the stated chance. Also fixed: dashboard badges no longer freeze after you sign in.

Home-screen widget See where to fly without opening the app. Add the Parakiter widget to your home screen and your favourite sites are ranked best-first for each of the next five days. Three sizes: the small one shows tomorrow's best site and its flying window, the medium gives you all five days, and the large adds a second site per day. Every site shows an hour-by-hour bar from 6am to 9pm, so you can see at a glance whether you're getting a solid afternoon or a fleeting hour — including where rain will break the day up. Tap any site to open it. Also in this update: day ratings now handle a single bad hour in the middle of an otherwise good window, instead of treating it as two short days.

Wind streaks now on by default on the forecast map — no hunt for the button. Trip-alert taps now open the site's forecast, and trip windows show up in your Upcoming alerts list. Chat: live member count with join/leave shown as they happen; URLs in messages are now tappable.

More live wind stations on the forecast map. Channel Coastal Observatory feed added: ~22 UK piers, harbours and nearshore platforms from Brighton to Bude. Announcements can include a photo or short video. Admins can attach media to dashboard announcements — the card shows a thumbnail with a ▶ overlay for video; tap to open inline or play fullscreen.

Forecast map upgrade. Live wind stations overlay (METAR, Pioupiou, NDBC buoys, Met Office) — tap an arrow for live readings and 24h history. Animated wind particles flowing across the country, hour-by-hour. New topographic basemap with hill shading. Plus: G-force meter in the flight tracker, suggest wind directions for any site, per-site wind overrides now count in the rating, "Forecast updated X ago" label, smaller fixes.

Polish and power on top of 1.0.7. Suggest wind directions, marker or map area for any site — tap the tune icon. Forecasts: per-site wind overrides now count, the red "unflyable" overlay covers tide and cloudbase too, and tapping a map marker opens the day you were viewing. Alerts: missing "active" rows fixed; 2h lead on "today" pushes. Plus: edit your wind window from your profile, satellite buddy map, cold-start push fix.

A big update built around two things: more accurate forecasts, and a much better alerts experience. Forecasts Launch Wind, not free-stream. The wind column now shows what the wind is doing at the launch itself — for sites with CFD, scaled by the simulated launch ratio; otherwise the existing cliff/ridge blend. Site scoring and alerts use the same launch value, so sheltered launches no longer get flagged red just because the open-air wind looked high. Smarter daily rating. Day scores (Poor → Great) are now based on your longest consecutive flyable run, not your single best hour. A great 9am hour with red conditions the rest of the day no longer rates the day "Okay-to-Great". Tighter rain rules. Any visible rain disqualifies an hour, and a ≥30% chance of showers does too, even when the modelled amount is tiny. Red overlay shows why an hour is unflyable. Scrubbing the timeline now reveals reasons in the bottom-right — "Wind too weak/strong", "Gust Speeds Exceeded", "Rain", "Dangerous Thermic Activity" — stacked when more than one applies. Coloured gust column when gusts are the problem. Alerts overhaul All-new Alerts screen with a bell icon on the dashboard. Upcoming flyable days, site alerts, schedule, and trip alerts all in one place. Trip alerts — get pushed when 2+ flyable days in a row line up across a cluster of nearby sites. Each trip alert has its own weekday filter. Bulk-add alerts — open the map picker and tap site dots to subscribe to many sites at once. Alert schedule — pick which weekdays and hours of the day you want notifications. "Even better" pushes — instant upgrade pushes when a site goes from Okay to Great, or when the flyable window grows.
