[About Outdoor Heart Sutra]
Outdoor Heart Sutra (Outdoor Hannya Shingyo) is a new form of sutra copying (shakyo) proposed by Jun Miura.
Miura defines "Outdoor Heart Sutra" as the process of leaving one’s home (referred to as shukke, or "leaving the secular world") to complete the 278 characters of the Heart Sutra by photographing matching characters found on street signs and billboards throughout the city (referred to as shakyo, or "sutra copying").
