I’m new to freeze drying, so there’s definitely a learning curve for me, but overall the Freeze Dry Buddy app seems pretty straightforward and easy to navigate. I like being able to keep track of batches and pantry inventory in one place. One thing I would really love to see improved is the pantry option for bag counts. Right now, it seems set up as a simple 1 tray = 1 bag situation, but that doesn’t always work in real life. For example, I had a couple trays that needed 1.5 bags each, so 2 trays ended up making 3 bags total. I couldn’t really find a good way to account for that in the app, so my pantry count is off.Aside from that, it’s been helpful so far, especially for someone just starting out with freeze drying.

I took this to the team a couple of days ago and your suggestion will be in the next update, great call out! -Brandon
Great app and they are very open to feedback and suggestions

Both the creator and the development team has been super great with any issues. Very helpful for logging things as well as some inspiration for other things to freeze dry. Can’t wait to see how they continue to develop it.
I like what I see so far

I have literally only just scratched the surface but I like what I see so far. It gave me easy to read setting for the first thing I asked to do (bananas) I had done a few batches before but not as the settings that Brandon suggested. I am excited to dial in my FD and not waste my time.

Developer Response
We’re excited to have you here! There’s a lot to learn with freeze drying, and we're building Freeze Dry Buddy to make that process easier step by step. -Brandon
- Your starter recipe now stays on the Today screen for good, even if it's a Pro recipe.
- Save as Template now saves your exact dial settings from a batch, so Pro members can run it again anytime from the Library.
- Settings now shows exactly what Pro unlocks, swapping in real Harvest Right Wi-Fi monitoring for features that weren't ready yet.
- Milestone share cards now include a link back to Freeze Dry Buddy, so friends you share with can find the app.
- After you share a milestone, you might occasionally see an invite to try Pro, never more than once a month.
