Vurr uses the science of espresso extraction — combined with your real shot data — to tell you exactly where to set your grinder before you pull.
Whether you just got your first espresso machine or you’re deep into dialling in single origins on a dual boiler — Vurr takes the guesswork out of grind size and gives you a starting point you can actually trust.
How it works
Log your shots. Vurr’s suggestion engine analyses your results using extraction science and adapts grind recommendations to your specific machine, beans, and taste. The more you log, the sharper your suggestions get.
Weather-aware suggestions
Humidity and temperature measurably affect how coffee extracts. Vurr pulls real-time weather data and factors it into every recommendation using established extraction physics — so a rainy Monday doesn’t ruin your shot.
Built for your setup
Choose from 52 supported grinders across 20 brands — Niche, Eureka, Mahlkönig, Baratza, Compak, Comandante, 1Zpresso, Ceado, DF, Etzinger, Fellow, Fiorenzato, KafaTek, Kinu, Mazzer, Option-O, Rocket Espresso, Timemore, Weber Workshops, and Wilfa. Vurr knows your burr size, adjustment direction, and espresso range — so recommendations are never generic.
Your dial, your grinder
Vurr’s virtual dial mirrors your actual grinder — same numbers, same direction, same feel. Set your chirp point, finest espresso, and coarsest position by spinning the dial just like you would on your countertop. One screen, three taps, fully calibrated.
Flow rate — automatically
Every shot shows your flow rate in grams per second, calculated from your yield and extraction time with no extra input. Colour-coded against the ideal range for your roast level. The engine uses flow rate to distinguish a grind problem from a technique problem — so it only adjusts when it should.
Scan your coffee bag
Point your camera at any bag. Apple Vision reads the label on-device — roast level, origin, process method — and feeds it directly into the suggestion engine. No data leaves your phone.
Shot log
Track every pull — dose, yield, time, flow rate, taste notes, and grind setting. Your history becomes the data that makes future suggestions sharper.

Doesn’t work particularly well and UI is not intuitive. Had a lot of difficulty finding where to add bags of coffee and additional shots because the UI is so clunky. The app seemed to forget I had already used it when I reopened it the following days. The benefits provided aren’t very useful. The app’s advice is very rudimentary and it takes longer to enter information about your previous shot than just dialing in a roast yourself without the help from AI. They shouldn’t be charging $22 a year for an incomplete app.
Your beans are getting older, and now Vurr actually cares.
Fresh bean energy — Vurr now factors in how many days off roast your bag is, and nudges your grind accordingly. Day 2 jitters, peak window confidence, day 25 “let’s be honest” adjustments. It’s all in there, and it’ll tell you why.
Scan your bag like a pro — swapped in Apple’s own document scanner for cleaner, sharper bag captures. Less squinting at blurry roast dates.
Prettier extraction charts — your session history now speaks the same visual language as your shot deep dive. Gold diamonds, green circles, the whole language of a good (or humbling) shot.
Widget glow-up — tightened up the home screen widget so nothing feels cramped or floaty anymore, and the Lock Screen circular widget now shows a proper gauge ring around your grind number, just like Apple’s own weather and tide widgets. A random number floating in a circle deserved better.
The usual under-the-hood tidying so things keep running smoothly.
Keep pulling. We’ll keep learning.
