I made this for myself. I have ADHD, and one long to-do list just freezes me. I can't tell what's actually on fire and what can wait, so I end up doing nothing. So I built the thing I needed, and figured some of you might need it too.
Here's how it works. You write a task down before it leaves your head, then you put it in one of four buckets:
- Do Now
- Plan
- Handle Soon
- Later
Four buckets. Not twenty lists, not folders inside folders. Just four places for a thing to go.
What's in it:
- Quick capture, so writing a task down isn't its own little chore
- An Inbox for everything you haven't sorted yet
- Recurring tasks: Daily, Weekdays, Weekly, or Monthly. You can also type a tag like @daily when you capture
- Drag tasks into the order you want in Inbox and the Matrix
- A Completed list, so finished stuff goes somewhere instead of staring at you
- Siri and App Shortcuts, if you'd rather just say it out loud
- Home Screen widgets, so your matrix stays visible without opening anything
- Five curated color themes plus one custom palette. Curated themes stay contrast-checked in light and dark; a custom palette can keep the colors you pick even when contrast is low
- Rename the four buckets to whatever your brain actually calls them
- Optional private iCloud sync, so your tasks can show up on your iPhone and iPad
- German, Spanish, Italian, and Simplified Chinese, with English as the fallback
About your data: it lives on your device. You don't make an account, you don't sign in, and I don't run analytics or hand your stuff to anyone. The sync is your own iCloud, between your own Apple devices.
It's free. No subscription, no ads. iPhone and iPad, iOS 18 and up.
One honest note: this won't fix your brain, and I'd be lying if I said it would. It's just a small, quiet place to put your tasks that didn't make me feel worse to use. I built it by myself, around how my own brain actually works. That was the whole goal.
Those words do not often get used in the same sentence. This app is very well designed and works perfectly for the ADHD mind like the name implies. This app is highly effective. Things I love, very beautiful user interface. Color options are pleasing and not overwhelming to look at. I leave the app open on my desk while I work. Things I would love to see added. I’d love to be able to add a second or third matrix. I would use one Eisenhower matrix for admin, life, and reminders. My second matrix would be split by client and what I have to do for each of their projects. Currently that’s how I’m using it, as I’m juggling a few projects and being able to see all of the tasks at once across multiple projects is a game changer. Additionally I’d love to add a function to select certain tasks as a priority, so they float to the top of the list. One UI request, I’d like all the fonts to match size for the tasks. I know they shrink to add more letters and shorter task names appear larger; but it throws me off a bit visually. I’d like to thank the creator for this app, it’s amazing to have someone making something with this level of quality for free. I hope some of my feedback can be considered.

✨✨Thank you for this! Finding a simple, elegant matrix with a widget has been an impossible task. It’s the only reason I hesitated getting rid of Tick Tick. I’m so happy!!! Would only like it if matrix names could be renamed/customized to fit individual circumstances. The colors are visual enough, though, even if headings cannot be changed.

I found this app after discussing with my doctor about Eisenhower Matrices and the fact that it’s free AND syncs across devices is amazing. What a gift to my productivity and brain! It feels amazing to be relieved of the guilt of not “getting things done” when they didn’t need to be done today in the first place. And I have my high priority tasks right there to make sure they don’t get missed. My one nitpick would be that it would be amazing to be able to reorder the tasks in a set once they’re typed. It seems to me that they’re locked in the order of entry, and it would be helpful to be able to re-prioritize them as they come up. Otherwise it’s perfect. If it ever gets added I’m changing to 5 stars in a heartbeat.

When it drops, you’ll be able to rearrange your tasks by dragging and dropping them like you can for moving tasks between quadrants in the Matrix tab view. I tuned search for larger task lists, and Inbox and Matrix now load rows as you scroll. I also cleaned up a few things behind the scenes. Your tasks and their order stay the same.
