More skating, less waiting. We've improved recording startup and recovery, made Sticker Studio quicker to open after a ride, and tightened up map loading in History and My Map. Saved routes and recovered ride distances also handle GPS gaps more accurately.

Recording is now protected from the moment you tap Start. Groove saves your in-progress skate before setup finishes, so the same skate can be recovered if startup is interrupted.

You’ll also get clearer updates after each session—from saved on your device to syncing, processing, and map ready. We tightened up reliability behind the scenes, too.

Groove is entering its mellow yellow era. We recalibrated the Community Map so that the routes you skate every day look more like they feel. Green = glass, yellow = skateable, orange = debatable, and red = well, we hope you packed shoes. Sick skates! Where'd you get those? Limited edition skates have dropped on Groove. Tap your avatar in the settings to explore Groove's new skate shop, where you'll find exclusive skates waiting to be unlocked! Some skates are ready to wear, and others you'll have to earn. We also tightened up map loading so Groove behaves better when you open the app, search, pan around, or check out where another skater is.

Hills have entered the chat. Groove now highlights steep hills on the map so you know what’s ahead before you drop in. We also gave the recording screen a refresh, putting your speed, distance, and duration front and center while you skate. Plus, we reduced battery consumption, improved background location reliability, made recent ride stats update more consistently, and addressed other bug fixes.

This update makes Groove better at protecting active rides when GPS goes quiet, the app gets interrupted, or the final stop needs recovery. The recording map also behaves better while you skate: if you pan or zoom to explore, Groove respects it instead of snapping you back. Auto-stopped sessions are easier to find in History, and recovered ride maps should show up more reliably.

We also made GPS gaps easier to understand and made ride saving more resilient.

Dude, where even are we? Groove’s map now has street names, cleaner labels, and search across the United States. Tap the magnifying glass on the map to find a local skate spot, scout a new city, or plan your next skate trip. Heads up! You can now turn on optional Hazard Alerts for major mapped cracks and receive a notification when you’re near one. To the skaters helping make those cracks known: we see you. Recording is steadier when you lock your phone, switch apps, or pause during a ride, and your latest route appears more reliably while Groove finishes processing it. We also polished a few profile, support, and navigation screens so the app feels smoother.

This update improves recording reliability, especially when using Groove with “While Using the App” location permission. Sessions should now continue more reliably when you switch apps or lock your phone during a ride, and recordings are handled more safely if location access changes mid-session. We also polished the recording map experience so it’s easier to get back to your live view after exploring the map. The recenter control is now easier to spot while you’re recording.

Groove now supports broader West Coast / multi-city map coverage, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Portland, Seattle, Denver, and Las Vegas. This update also adds a cleaner ride history experience, with richer session summaries, route details, and speed and smoothness charts. The map and community screens should feel steadier too, with smoother loading, cleaner live skater markers, and a redesigned tab selector. Recording now handles long pauses more gracefully by checking in before ending a session.
