TruthLens: News Verifier
See who reported it first
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Most news you read is one source, repeated.
TruthLens traces any story back to the outlet, agency or official document that reported it first — and shows you everyone who is just echoing it.
Paste a link, type a headline, or tap a trending story. TruthLens searches live sources and returns a verdict in seconds.
SIX VERDICTS, BASED ON SOURCE INDEPENDENCE
• Independently Verified — multiple genuinely independent sources confirm it
• Single Origin — many outlets, all tracing back to one announcement or report
• Contested — the dominant account is challenged by other sources
• Single Source — only one outlet reporting it so far
• Sources Conflict — active disagreement, no clear account
• Satire Detected — the story originates from a satirical publication
WIRE ECHO TIMELINE
Ten outlets repeating one wire report is not confirmation. TruthLens shows the original source, when it published, and the chain of outlets that followed — so you can judge for yourself whether the consensus is real or manufactured.

- The Wire Echo Timeline is now a single list, earliest first. Low-trust blogs and aggregators are grouped at the bottom, and the outlet count matches the rows you see.
- Times that are only known to the hour now read "~7 AM", and the gap between two sources is marked "~" when either time is approximate.
- Fixed: within a time window, sources with a publish time are now listed in time order.
- Fixed: the Analysis Tracker no longer shows its title twice.
- Small fixes and polish throughout.
2.0.10 Oct 5
-The Wire Echo Timeline now shows only the order it can prove: sources whose publish times can't be told apart are grouped together and marked "order among these unknown", instead of being drawn as a chain.
-Fixed: a source known only by its publish date, with no time, no longer jumps to the top of the timeline as if it had reported the story first.
-Small fixes and polish throughout.
2.0.9 Sep 25
Fixed: a story you refreshed on one device now shows the updated result on your other devices, instead of staying on the old one.
Fixed: opening a synced story no longer moves it to the top of your history as if you had just run it.
Fixed: a story synced from another device could appear twice in your history. It now appears once.
Fixed: if an analysis is interrupted before it finishes, TruthLens now tells you, instead of leaving a partial result on screen.
Fixed: a long original source name in the Wire Echo Timeline now wraps between words instead of breaking in the middle of one.
Small fixes and polish throughout.
2.0.8 Sep 23
- Answers now appear as they are written. Instead of waiting for the whole analysis, each story arrives the moment it is ready, so the first one lands in about half the time.
- Starting a new chat now cancels an analysis that is still running, so a result you have moved on from can no longer arrive on a fresh screen.
2.0.7 Sep 20
Fixed: sharing a story from your History now opens the exact result you shared, instead of re-running the search and showing a new one.
The Wire Echo Timeline now says "date unknown" when a story's original source has no published date, rather than leaving the space blank.
The original source's date now lines up with the source name, matching every row beneath it.
Small fixes and polish throughout.
2.0.6 Sep 18
- Sources are now ordered by credibility. Low-trust aggregators and content farms no longer lead the evidence list — they are still shown and still counted, because an outlet that echoed a story did echo it.
- The original source line no longer claims more than we can show. It now names the kind of source — wire, government, social, news report — and says nothing at all when that cannot be established from the evidence.
- Fixed a line in the Single Origin explanation that referred to a fixed number of outlets regardless of how many were actually found.
2.0.5 Sep 14
• Save stories — bookmark up to 5 and file them under 3 categories, free for everyone. Pro makes both unlimited and syncs them across your devices.
• The wire echo timeline no longer shows a source as an outlet echoing itself.
• Publication dates are clearer: times show in your timezone, and dates without a known time are marked so they can't be misread.
• Freshness now reads "within the last 24 hours" on breaking stories instead of a date that could look like tomorrow.
2.0.4 Sep 12
• A quick "Was this useful?" card after your first check, so you can tell us how TruthLens is doing.
• The wire echo timeline now shows every source in one time frame, so an outlet can no longer appear to have published
before the source it echoed.
• Timeline times no longer show minutes we couldn't actually know — an article dated "3 hours ago" now shows the hour,
not an invented minute.
• History rows now match the result card: a check with no sources, or an older story, shows that instead of a verdict.
• Your daily check count now resets at your local midnight on every device.
• Trending stories load faster and fill all six topics more reliably.
• Small fixes and polish throughout.
2.0.3 Sep 8
• Trending stories on the home screen now refresh through the day and cover a wider range of topics.
• A more accurate wire echo timeline: sources are no longer shown out of order or dated in the future, and an original source can no longer appear as an echo of itself.
• Verdicts now ignore sites that only republish other outlets' reporting, so a story is judged on the sources that actually reported it.
• Fixed: sharing a post from X could show an error in the app for a story you'd already checked.
• Small fixes and polish throughout.
2.0.2 Sep 2
Fixes for Pro history organization
Bookmarks and categories now sync across your devices. If you organized your history on one device and didn't see it on another, that's fixed — your existing bookmarks and categories will show up everywhere the next time each device syncs.
Bookmarks and categories also now stay put when you refresh a story, and they belong to the story itself. Check the same headline again later and your bookmark is still there, on every copy of it.
Clearer Reputation % explanation
Tap Reputation % on any result and you'll see exactly what the score does and doesn't measure — source independence, not political bias or story accuracy — and where outlet types are cross-checked.
Plus small fixes and polish throughout.

Sharing, upgraded. Shared links now unfurl into a rich preview card in iMessage, WhatsApp, Slack, and anywhere else you send them — recipients see the story, the verdict, and the source trace before they even tap. Cleaner shares, same one-tap verification on the other end.
Fresh when you return. Coming back to TruthLens after a while now lands you on today's top stories instead of the one you checked this morning. Your past checks are always one tap away in History.
1.7 Jul 9
Share the verdict
Tap the new share button on any result to send the story, verdict, and
source trace to iMessage, WhatsApp, Slack, or anywhere else. Recipients

they want the latest.

the story, plus expandable groups for additional outlets and aggregators — so you can see exactly who reported first
and who just re-shared.
• Clearer origin labeling — the timeline now names the platform behind an original source (Official Announcement, Wire
Report, Social Media Post, Official Statement, News Report) so you know at a glance whether the story came from the
company itself, a wire service, or a news outlet.
• Small polish and bug fixes.
1.5 Jul 2
